About Fred Herring
My wife and I first visited Kiawah in mid to late 80s. We purchased our condo in 1994(?) and have enjoyed many vacations there over the years. My wife now has a medical condition and can no longer get up the steps to the front door of the condo. Therefore, we have our unit on the real estate market. We miss it but realize that we need to look for another location with level access. We will probably never find another location as special as our beloved condo at Kiawah.

I offer my property at a lower rate than most other rentals on Kiawah. The main reason that I do this is because my property has not been extensively updated as some of the other properties have. I currently have it for sale and I would like to leave the decision of future updates to the potential buyer. Our condo is in a great location and we do try to keep it clean and well supplied.

This is an older place, particularly bathroom and sliding door to verandah need work, but clean and comfortable for two. Location within Kiawah excellent.
great place we had a great time at his place very clean and he was a great host anything you need just call call him and he will make sure you get what you need . just a couple of minutes walk to the beach ..we couldnt ask for a better place to stay
Lovely time on Kiawah
We stayed over Christmas 2017. Check in was easy, everything was as described. We had full use of the bikes and there are miles of bike trails. You can also ride on the miles of beautiful beach. King size bed was very comfy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay there again.

It is a great location but the property needs upgrading and a very thorough cleaning.
We enjoyed Kiawah Island. The property is located perfectly to enjoy the island. It just needs some attention to detail.
I apologize that the condo did not meet your expectations. As I mentioned in the description of the condo we have not upgraded because the condo is for sale and we leaving that decision to the next owners. I have notified my housekeeper or your concerns and forwarded your comments to her. I know that our housekeeper will, on occasion, hire third party cleaners. This may, or may not, have been the situation here. We just had another professional cleaner (02/20/18) thoroughly clean the condo after our last guest departed. Unfortunately, my wife and I have not been to the condo is about 7 years, due to a health condition that developed.

This condo "got her done"
This condo had comfortable bedding, adequate bath, kitchen, and laundry, and was clean. It was located in a nice area with good lighting very close to both the park and beach. It is not going to win any house beautiful interior design awards, but it served our purposes good enough. As has been stated by others, the inside is dated. It has a few signs of "wear and tear"....mostly it needs a paint job, some light fixture/furniture updates, and some work on the tub fixtures. If that is bothersome, this may not be the condo for you. However, if you are here to enjoy the beautiful island, spend much of your time outdoors, and not go broke while doing so, this is a great unit. I think it would be a tight fit for more than 2 adults. 2 adults with a couple of children would probably work okay. We enjoyed the small screen porch that overlooks water, especially when it was raining. The kitchen was small, but had everything we needed. As for the island itself, deer and wildlife abound. We took a walk one night and found ourselves face to face with a young buck (4-5 pointer) just a few yards away from our unit. While driving on the island at night, we stopped for a raccoon family (6-8 ranging from babies to adults) to cross the road, and had a bobcat run right in front of our car. It is not unusual to see does with fauns among the sand dunes. The in tact maritime forest and planned landscaping is just gorgeous. The abundant shade keeps things reasonably cool in the July summer. We would rent this condo again and look forward to coming back to Kiawah.
Near Night Heron Park, 170 yards to the beach, Lagoon view, 2 bikes w/unit. When you turn into the Mariners Watch complex off of Sea Forest Drive it is in the second building on the right - the name 'Fake' is on the address sign for 4282. Other Activities: occasional entertainment in the nearby Night Heron Park, kayaking, nature tours

Rentals of less than 1 week (during any season) are at the owners discretion. Rentals are weekly, Sat.- Sat. If a week is vacant the owner may offer a last minute rental of less than a week. Summer rentals of weekly time blocks is normally required.
