About the Property

How to get there: Flights from Manila to Puerto Princessa:
Palawan is a one hour domestic flight from Manila Airport. We find Cebu Pacific and Airphil Express to have the most competitive prices currently. Other airlines include Zestair and Philippine Airlines. Book in advance to receive the best prices. We usually pay around $60 usd each way, but this can be higher for late bookings.
From Puerto Princessa to Port Barton: We can have a driver meet you at the airport and transport you to our home or you can make your own way if you like. Public transport is available from Puerto Princesa, but the most convenient and comfortable trip is by air conditioned van. There are 7 and 12 seater vans available for the very pleasant 2 and a half to 3 hour trip up the Palawan coastline where you'll pass through dozens of small villages and see how Filipinos really live in the provinces. You'll pay around $106 usd for a 7 seater van, depending on the size of the van. Current prices are on our Booking Request Form that we'll send you when you decide to make a booking. You'll pass the famous Underground River on the way to and from Port Barton so you may like to take the side trip to visit this outstanding tourist attraction. You driver can organise this but he will need some notice. Try to organise early flights in to Puerto Princesa, and late flights going back to allow you plenty of time to take the Underground River side trip. It's well worth the trip and the entry fees are inexpensive.
The trip to Port Barton from Puerto Princessa is picturesque as it follows the east coast of Palawan and then weaves through the small villages that dot the countryside. You'll see a wide cross section of Filipino culture and life along this road. The Highway is good, little traffic and the trip goes quickly.
The last few kilometres of the road into Port Barton is being concreted now and by late 2016 the new road should be completed.
Port Barton Area: Activities to entertain guests are many and have previously been mentioned. They include, paddle boats and glass bottom kayaks, Motor Bike, and Table Tennis, Island Hopping, Camping overnight on Islands, Fishing, Boating Swimming, Waterfall Hikes (several falls nearby) day trips to Underground River or to El Nido, Karaoke at night (but don't pack your disco clothes cuz there's not a lot on at night other than Fiestas and Town Dance nights mainly Ballrom and Latin) or you can safely walk the Beach or streets at night or in the afternoons you may do some bar hopping to see whats going on in the village while you enjoy the often stunning sunsets. We find getting out into the water on a boat is one of the most rewarding activities here, and the waters and islands are truly beautiful. Swimming is great to cool you off on hot days or try the shower we've attached to the coconut tree on the beach. Swimming is also great at the waterfalls…….definitely go to the waterfalls. There are several in the area.
The Palawan Region: Palawan is well known to Filipinos as being the undeveloped, unspoiled Paradise of their Country. Port Barton is located a scenic boat trip south of the well known El Nido famous for its Resorts and Magnificent Cliff Faces which plunge into its Crystal Clear waters and North of Sabang and the Famous Underground River of the Philippines. Port Barton is well known as a Holiday Destination in Palawan and from here you have access to dozens of Islands of the West Coast of Palawan. Fishing, diving, sightseeing, butterfly and bird watching, nature walks and a variety of other local activities are available to visitors such as cock fighting. Foundation day celebrations from January 28 to 30 is a great time to visit the Port Barton Area

Bedrooms: 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 8, Beds for 6-8
- Our home comfortably sleeps 6 persons, however we have extra beds available for larger groups that aren' t too fussy about sleeping arrangements. We will accept up to 8 guests and sometimes more, however whilst this may suit Filipino families who don't mind a little overcrowding, we are reluctant to take bookings over 8 persons. We regard the home as a place to sleep and we use the large Entertainment area during the daytime and at night. ...moreless
Bathrooms: 1 Bathroom, 1 Half Bathroom
- Each of the 2 Bathrooms has a shower, toilet and wash basin. We now have a solar hot water system, and at times water pressure doesn't allow hot water to reach the top floor shower with much flow, so you may need to use the old dipper and bucket method if you really want a hot shower. In a hot climate such as in the Philippines, we prefer cold showers to stay feeling fresh. It only takes a minute to get used to it!...moreless
- The rental fee includes housekeeping services. Cooking, washing and cleaning facilities are available if required. We can also include an Island Hopping Trip with a Beach Barbecue for a little extra. Email us for details about the charges and inclusions. We have a pocket wifi system that can support several computers. We'll provide $20 internet load, after which you will need to buy load from the internet provider. Internet is slow here and relatively expensive too. Ask us for more information if wifi is important to you....moreless

Our home is situated beachfront in Port Barton Palawan which is a little south of San Vicente the local government centre. Port Barton is located between the world renowned Underground River and popular destination El Nido. Port Barton is a 3 hour drive from Puerto Princessa, the capital city of Palawan, known as the last frontier of the Philippines.
Our home is situated in a marine park area. Boating, island hopping and trips to the several waterfalls nearby are some popular activities. Trips to the Underground River and El Nido can be organised by our staff.
Other Activities: Paddle Boating and Kayaking. Island Hopping, snorkelling, diving. We have 2 Stand Up Paddle boards available for rent by our guests.
Year Purchased: 1997
About the owner: My husband and I settled in Port Barton as we felt that this area was paradise and had the same potential as Boracay, without the crowds and overdevelopment. We have 2 beachfront homes in Port Barton Palawan, both listed here on Homeaway. We decided to rent the homes to help cover the costs of maintenance and to share the charm and beauty of this area. The feeling we have every time we arrive here is exciting. The home is simple but it's the freedom and peace we feel here. Cruising through the islands, swimming on our own beach and enjoying this very special place. I'm sure you'll feel what we feel.
Why the Owner Chose Port Barton, San Vicente, Palawan, Philippines:
My husband first visited Boracay 25 years ago before we found Port Barton. We both felt that Port Barton had the same potential as Boracay so we bought a Beach front lot there. Over the next few years we built the home and entertainment area and caretakers cottage. We love the home feel part of the community here. We hope you will also feel part of the community.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Villa Marguerita and our other home Gilligans Port Barton are unique in Port Barton as they are the only beachfront homes available for rent in Port Barton. The grounds at Villa Marguerita are large ( 3000 sq. metres with 50 metres of absolute beach frontage overlooking clean white sands and Port Barton bay and islands ) with some pretty gardens, several beachfront bar/entertainment/cabana areas to relax in and watch the sometimes magnificent sunsets out to the south China Sea. Our home is available for private rental only which includes exclusive use of the property excluding the caretakers cottage, so you won't be sharing the home with anyone else. This is the only home to boast 24 hours lights, fans and refrigeration as we use around 18 solar panels to power the home. Port Barton town power only runs from 5pm to 11pm, so everywhere else closes at 11. Our beer is definitely the coldest in town without a doubt, something very important to many people. Ours is the only home that can accommodate large groups as we have a commercial sized kitchen and an experienced cook that knows the meals to prepare for foreigners. Ideally the 3 bedroom home sleeps 6 however we can cater for larger groups. 8 is the maximum that our caretakers are happy to accept now. Exceptions are sometimes made, but for larger groups we recommend that some guests stay at the neighbouring resort Summerhomes. Our large kitchen can feed hundreds as we sometimes do when we invite local children for our legendary Christmas parties.
