My husband and I have been trying to stay here for years but it's always been booked; it was serendipity that it wasn't booked the week after the 4th! The location, home and surrounding property exceeded our expectations, the pictures really don't do it justice. Upon first walking inside to the sounds of vintage Swing to the rustic charm of the cabin and soothing sounds of the creek, to sitting in the hot tub under the twinkle lights, there is nothing about this cabin or our experience that wasn't perfect. If your main objective is relaxation and a renewed connection to nature, then Big Al's is a must! We will definitely be back. Thank you for sharing your lovely, creekside retreat!
Our first step into the cabin was like walking back in time and the attention to detail made us feel immediately welcome. The retro setting was delightful AND included all modern amenities. The creek side setting was amazing and the moss covered path through the woods to the pond was almost magical.
We enjoyed lounging in the hammock over the creek in the afternoon and then sitting by the camp fire in the evening eating S'mores.
The best part was that we could include our pets in our family outing.
We will definitely recommend this location for a rustic mountain getaway to our friends and family.
What a beautiful house. So well kept with everything we needed. The creek was so peaceful and the pond was beautiful. Everything about the house was perfect. We will be coming back again for sure!
Wonderful and relaxing setting
Upon arriving we were surprised that the cabin was so close to the road, but it turned out not to be an issue at all. The road had little traffic and the sound of the river muted any cars that did pass by. The setting is beautiful. The cabin is rustic but fully functional. The river room is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the river only a few feet away.
The only shortcomings we saw were that there is no bakeware of any sort and the non-stick frying pans could use replacement. If you are planning to use the oven, bring your own pan. Other than that all the reviews are spot on, this is a lovely place, I would definitely return.
Divine Creekside Views
Big Al's Creek House is a unique setting and perhaps, of the many by-the-water cabins we have stayed in, the closest that we have been to a rhythmic rolling creek. The cabin has a rustic 1950s feel with cozy fireplace and plenty of windows to see the trees as well as the water rushing by. There is a foot bridge that extends over the water and a hammock to relax on the other side. No hammock on this visit, for it rained during the entire time we were there. We could still enjoy the creek from a large sitting area inside directly next to the water. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there did not leave cabin except for supplies.
Truly one of a kind
We took a mini vacation here and enjoyed it immensely. The cozy cabin and the surrounding grounds are everything a nature gal like me gets excited about! We heeded a prior visitors advice and brought bug spray and water shoes because we had to walk in the creek and look for worms for fishing just as I did growing up in rural Chester County Pa. The idyllic moss covered trail and pond will certainly be part of my meditations. It lived up to all expectations. We are very grateful for the opportunity
With the beautiful creek and the romantic setting, why would anyone want to leave Big Al's Creek House? But if one did have cause to venture out, Big Al's Creek House is conveniently central to all Pocono Mountain resort area attractions.
These include: Camelback Ski Mountain, Camelback Play Park, Shawnee resort/Playhouse, The Crossings Outlet Center, Mt. Airy Casino, Great Wolf Lodge, Pocono’s NASCAR Raceway, Memory town, Tobyhanna State Park, and Pocono’s Brewing Company. A short drive will take you to either Lake Wallenpaupak for motorboat rentals, water skiing, tubing, Jet Ski rentals, sailing, and fishing or to Jack Frost/Big Boulder for skiing and Jim Thorpe for the areas best white water rafting or the quaint historical village for antiquing!
