Rocky Mountain High, our recently renovated vacation home, is ideal for families and their guests, and is accessible to all of Summit County’s year round activities. In the winter, our location offers easy access to five major ski areas, namely Breckenridge, Cooper, Keystone, Arapahoe, and Vail; all are excellent for downhill skiing, and snowboarding. Across the front of our property, we have cross-country skiing on the virtually endless multi-use Pathway, plus we have an Alpine cross-country ski area less than one mile away. For others, there is also snowshoeing and ice fishing.
In the summer our home is the ideal base for hiking, trail and mountain biking, boating, swimming, ballooning, fishing and almost every outdoor sport. Pets are welcome with an additional deposit and prior approval. We are just minutes from downtown Frisco, but are nestled next to the Rainbow Trail with 1,000's of acres of State Forest, offering our guests immediate access to endless nature trails, lakes, wildlife, and wilderness. Rocky Mountain High provides a breathtaking, unobstructed view of Peak One, a majestic, scenic mountain (almost 14,000 feet high).
We have 2 heated garages along with a heated apron around the garages making early departures for skiing and snow boarding effortless. There is also a spa room with a large hot tub along with a shower and play areas for après skiing family times. Inside, our home has a rustic feel with beautifully finished wood, and bare-log beams. (For more pictures of the inside rooms, please visit our Website reachable through this VRBO Website.)
Our home is great for family reunions and small retreats with everyone sleeping under one roof.
We have a very large outside fireplace (and plenty of wood). The fireplace is safe and excellent for sitting around after daytime activities are over. A separate gas grill is available for cooking outside. We also have two inside fireplaces that are gas-fired, safe, and very cozy to sit around.
The master bedroom has its own fireplace, plus a jetted hot tube of its own, and a large two person shower. Our home is perfect for a romantic vacation, even if you bring the kids.

The Vierling Family has owned this property for over 50 years and two generations. The first generation actually lived here in a real log cabin as a family of nine. After we all grew up, we left the area for job opportunities out of the State.
Unfortunately, our log cabin burned to the ground one night from total neglect. Years went by when finally, by popular demand, we rebuilt a beautiful new dwelling on the property for the whole family to enjoy. There was lots of space and it was really great for family reunions.
This past summer, we renovated our vacation home, and added even more space to accommodate over 20 people for sleeping. This vacation home is our family legacy, now located on what has been officially designated “Vierling Way,” one of the many roads in the little town of Frisco. We want you to enjoy it as well.
Dr. Jon Anton purchased this house in 1955
We chose this special location way back when no one else lived on Bill's Ranch. Our mother and father were the first pioneers to reside here, and that’s why the road in front of our property became known as “Vierling Way.” What really got our parents attention was the surrounding wilderness and the seclusion of the location. Even after more than fifty years, that seclusion still exists today, even though we are within walking distance from downtown Frisco.
Our vacation home is centrally located to the following five ski areas: Breckenridge, Cooper, Keystone, Arapahoe, and Vail. In the summer, we are close to lake swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, ballooning, and mountain biking. (Please go to our Website for more pictures of fun activities....you can reach our Website through this VRBO site.) We want to share our experience with you. We can assure you that you will have a marvelous time staying at our Rocky Mountain High.
In the winter, this is a snowy wonderland, with powder snow everywhere. Directly in front of our vacation home is a cross-country path that goes for over 30 miles, namely from Breckenridge to Vail.
In the summer, we can jump on our bikes and go for 36 miles on a paved, bike-only, Pathway. We are only minutes from Dillon Lake for summer water sports. The trail to the top of Peak One begins behind our home. The walking trails behind our home also take you to endless beaver dams, and natural lakes, like one in particular which is called Rainbow Lake, just a short distance away. Our home is great for work and play. There is a desk, and wireless Internet throughout the house.
During both summer and winter, there is a free bus service that goes from Main Street Frisco to Cooper, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe ski areas.
Once you are at our Rocky Mountain High, you may just decide to stay close to home and enjoy the beauty and splendor of the property. Treat yourself to a massage, read a good book, watch a movie, listen to music, enjoy a catered dinner from a personal chef, go for a walk or hike on neighboring trails or just relax…the possibilities are endless!
What a fantastic place to stay. We had 21 and several beds left over. The cabin is right on the national forest with multiple hiking and biking trails right out your front door. A short hike to a beautiful little lake which our youngsters fell in love with, wading, fishing, dam building. A more challenging hike to peak one is also right out the back door and enjoyed by 4 of our crowd. White water raftng, horse back ridding, a day at Breckinridge summer fun park, bike ride around lake Dillon, a great little town, and then coming back to the cabin where we were all seated at Jon's giant table or on the back patio for food and games. I can honestly say this was the perfect spot for a family reunion.
This vacation home was ideal for our large group of 10 adults and 10 children, who ranged in age from 5-12. The key feature to any property for a group this size is a large kitchen, and this home has one of the largest and easiest to navigate we have experienced. Two ranges, two sinks, and two dishwashers made meal prep and cleanup very efficient. It is also big enough to allow several "cooks in the kitchen". The dining area also made group mealtime a breeze.
This house has a kids bunkroom that served as their getaway, and allowed for early bedtimes for tired skiers when the adults wanted to stay up a while longer. The hot tubs are great - the outdoor one has direct sightline to the mountains.
The location of this house is perfect for visitors who want quick access to several of the area ski resorts. We skied each of Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vail during our week, and none were more than a 20-30 minute drive. It also is convenient to the town of Frisco for groceries, shopping, and restaurants.
This property was perfect for our family Christmas vacation. Accommodations were more than adequate for the 15 adults and 3 infants for our four night stay. Only a few minutes drive to Frisco Main Street for shopping and close to Keystone, Breck and Copper Mountain for the skiers.
Family meals were a breeze with the large kitchen, two stoves, two dishwashers and big refrigerator. The dining area comfortably seats 25-30 people; the large fireplace was a nice feature. Everyone had a great stay and this property will be at the top of our list for the next mountain family vacation.
The house worked out wonderfully. We had 17 people and our group and we all fit comfortably. The house could easily fit more. There is a bus that takes you to the mountain if you're trying to ski, but it helps to have a car to drop you off at the bus because it's about a 20 minute walk which is hard to do with skis. The house is an easy drive to Keystone, Breck and A Basin. The hot tubs are really awesome to have after skiing! The bunk room is really nice to have. We really liked the dining room with lots of seating. I would recommend this house!
What makes this the best house in the area for large groups?
1. Kitchen has 2 sinks, 2 stove/cooktops and 2 dishwashers, a huge refrigerator and is open to the deck and dining room
2. The bedrooms are very well laid out and separated so everyone can have their privacy without being too far from the action
3. The game room is great for kids and adults alike with shuffleboard and foos ball
4. The driveway accommodates 10 vehicles without having to ask people to move their car every second
5. 2 hot tubs
Even though we live 2 minutes away, we rented this house to accommodate a large group of friends coming to visit and couldn't have been happier. On a side note, you will receive the best and most personalized service from the owner and property manager!
We could not have asked for a better home to have stayed in for our wedding day! The house was big enough to accommodate all the guests we had staying with us and there is enough room to spread out and everyone can have their own space. The Jacuzzi was amazing and there's nothing like it when you sit out at night and see the stars. Everyone loved the gorgeous view from the back patio, the whole house seems to be cradled by the scenery and the yard is huge with a lovely border of aspen trees and pine. My father in law was impressed and mentioned the house would be perfect for a family trip to get everyone together under the same roof. Highly recommend! The owner of the home is extremely courteous and helpful, and there is always a property manager available if you have questions. Great location to have access to everything in Frisco, and the surrounding areas! Several people took little trips up through Breckenridge, and Vail, which are only 15-35 minutes away.
35 mile paved bike-only trail in front of house, use of 2 bikes included in the rental, 5 minutes to the Dillon Lake Marina, cross-country trail to Breckinridge begins at the house, trail to Rainbow Lake begins at the house.
