Over 500 years old, House Maddalena is part of a medieval townhouse located in the historic center of Spello, very close to Pintoricchio's frescos in the Cappella Baglioni. The apartment is located at the first floor, has been recently renovated and elegantly furnished, and has a fully equipped kitchen. The ceiling of the living room is finely decorated and a balcony offers a countryside and mountain view.
House Maddalena offers, in a quite location, a wonderful experience: guests are immersed in Roman monuments and a Medieval landscape they can enjoy walking around. Seeing from the very narrow streets the Subasio mountain and its olive threes landscape is a unique experience.
Guests will have the chance to taste for free the organic olive oil cultivated by the owners in the Spello hills, the Bruschetta (delicious roasted bread with olive oil and garlic) and some other healthy food (like the very special bread made by the owners using several types of organic flours). The owners are available to visit the olive plants, explaining how the olives are cultivated and handled to produce the excellent olive oil. They will also provide detailed information to visit the closest Umbria's towns (Assisi, Foligno, Montefalco, Bevagna, Spoleto, Todi, Orvieto, Gubbio).
Guided excursions to the Subasio mountain can be arranged on request.
Keywords: Apartment in a very nice medioeval house, calm and silent, all comforts, in Spello's hystorical part, very close to shops and restaurants.
Lorella restore paintings, Osvaldo is a Professor at the University. In the free time we like to cultivate organic olive oil and vegetables. Osvaldo likes to ride the bike, while Lorella practices Yoga. We have one daughter (24) and two sons (21 and 12).
Osvaldo Gervasi purchased this apartment in 1993
House Maddalena is located in the same very old and big Palace where we live in a very large apartment, where 3 rooms and a large living room are finely decorated with frescos of the eighteenth century. Spello is a wonderful town to live, where our parents and relatives are also living.
Nice countryside view, quite location, few meters from the Pintoricchio's frescos located in Capella Baglioni, in the S. Maria Maggiore church.
Osvaldo very kindly met us at the station and drove us to the apartment, showing us a recommended walk on the way. He was also very helpful with other local information. The photos are an accurate depiction - it is spacious, well equipped and came with 2 bottles of excellent Umbrian wine, plus olive oil and lots of herbs and spices. We recommend it!
Excelent location, walking distance from restaurants and history town center, very good maintained, nice, friendly and serviceable motivated owners.
Osvaldo's apartment was the most well-stocked, thoughtfully equipped one we've stayed in. Plenty of room and storage, light-filled rooms and an extremely central location. Osvaldo himself was a lovely, welcoming host. Spello had plenty of restaurants and cafes, beautiful streets, and was in a great position to visit other towns and villages in the area. The aqueduct walk to Collepino is lovely, with a great restaurant at the end, but be warned the last 15 minutes is pretty steep.
We loved this balcony apartment. It is large with three french doors opening to the balcony. The view from balcony is south west across the valley to the hill town of Montefalco, just beautiful. We stayed six nights and hated to leave. Oswaldo picked us up at the train station and drove us around the town.
The kitchen included all the condiments necessary for preparing meals, especially salads. We ate in three nights. The bed was very comfortable. We used the washing machine. Wi-Fi was always on.
We loved walking around Spello which is not nearly as touristy as neighboring towns. We easily walked to the train station three times to take the short ride to Perugia, Assisi and Spoleto. We were so glad we chose Spello as our home base. Oswaldo is a wonderful host. He provided a terrific local wine and a bottled of olive oil from is own grove. Maddalena house is a terrific value and we highly recommend.
Soggiorno gradevole, adatto a chi cerca tranquillità, cultura e buona cucina.L 'appartamento è pulito e fornito di ogni comfort. Più che soddisfatta! Torneremo presto!
The apartment is located inside the roman walls of Spello, named by the emperor Costantino 'Splendidissima Colonia Julia'. Spello is one of the major attractions in Italy, testimonial of the roman and medieval age, with its narrow streets (named 'vicoli'), the Pintoricchio's frescos of Cappella Baglioni and the uniqueness of its landscape, with the Subasio mountain and the olive trees.
