Our country-home is set amidst the greenery of the Po countryside. Corte Spinata is perfect for truly relaxing: snoozing, reading, looking at the internet, cycling along the river Po, fishing, playing in the open fields or pottering around the vegetable garden.
If you love to cook, you’ll be pleased with our well-equipped kitchen (4 flame hob, electric oven) as well as an outdoor stone fireplace and hob.
You can reach many bike paths directly from Corte Spinata. We can lend bikes, even children’s.
Life by the river is pleasant and relaxing not only in Summer and Autumn.
Corte Spinata is in an area of beautiful countryside as well as historic importance. It’s situated on the banks of the Po river near a little jetty. You can have lovely day trips biking along the river on the cycle path. Traces of the past are all around us.
Running alongside our farm is a cycle route and a stone’s throw away, is the landing pier for cruises on the Po River. We are in Melara, near Ostiglia, in the centre of the Art Quadrangle of the historic cities of Verona, Mantua, Ferrara and Venice.
The Po is a fishing paradise! Anglers can find up to 46 different species of fish, including catfish, carp and eel. We can help you with your fishing licence.
Part of the Eurovelo 8 Turin to Venice cycle route passes just behind Corte Spinata, perfect for expert cyclists or just family outings to explore the surroundings.
The cycle path running behind the holiday home, links up with a network of cycle paths that go from Turin to Venice and branches off in every direction. Not far, in Melara, is the landing pier for cruises on the Po River. You can take your boat from here, sail to Mantua or Ferrara, towards the Po delta or even Venice.

Guests can help themselves to any fruit (Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and grapes) as well as the season’s vegetables in the garden.
Some of the most beautiful historic cities are just a drive away: Verona (58 km) Mantua (42 km) Ferrara (48 km) It takes between 40 to 60 minutes by car. Lake Garda is about an hour’s drive away. Ostiglia train station, on the main Verona – Bologna, is only 8.7 km from Corte Spinata.
Verona airport can be reached in fifty minutes.

Don’t forget that there is a small but strategic little train stationin Ostiglia, on the Verona- Bologna line. It’s only 8,7 km away from Corte Spinata, and there’s plenty of free parking there.
Leaving from CORTE SPINATA you can get TO OSTIGLIA STATION easily and quickly . Leaving from Ostiglia Station you can get to:
• VERONA PORTA NUOVA STATION in 20 minutes ( from here to Venice and Gardaland )
• BOLOGNA in an hour
Leave Corte Spinata and turn left, take the main road and go straight on, towards OSTIGLIA. After 6.8 km you will see on your right a sign for the station "STAZIONE”. Turn right here and after 1.6 km you arrive at the OSTIGLIA train station. This is in total 8.7 km from Corte Spinata and it takes 10 minutes by car. Unfortunately, tickets cannot be bought at the station, but you can buy tickets on the train from the ticket inspector, when he is on the train.
DAY TRIPS VERONA (leaving from OSTIGLIA station)
Verona can be reached easily and cheaply by train for a day trip.
First Leave Corte Spinata and get to OSTIGLIA railway station. Get on at platform 2. In 20 minutes, you will reach Verona Porta Nuova station. When coming back, you can buy the tickets at the automatic machine at Verona station. Take the regional/local train to BOLOGNA in second class. After buying the ticket, make sure you validate it, or you can get a fine. After 20 minutes, get off at OSTIGLIA. You can check the timetable on the TRENITALIA website, or you can download the " TRENITALIA" app. The ticket costs €5 travelling on the regional/ local train per person one way second-class. Trains to and from VERONA run very often on this line.The centre of Verona is only a 10 minute walk from the station (1km) or you can take the bus (11, 12, 13 and others). You can buy the tickets on the bus, it costs 2€ or you can buy tickets at the newsagents at the station, in this case it costs €1.30.
You can easily reach Verona CENTRE (p.Brà/Arena) from the Porta Nuova Station:
By bus (numbers 11,12,13, and others) from the B1 area outside the station. Buses leave every 5 minutes and take 10 minutes to get to P. Bra
You can get to the FIERA di VERONA (TRADE FAIR) from the train station VERONA PORTA NUOVA:
On foot(1,8km)20 minutes
By bus in the area outside the station (numbers 21,22,61 and other special buses during fair events) buses are frequent and the journey takes 7 minutes.
To FAIR: DOOR TO DOOR:1 HOUR MAXIMUM
It only takes an hour to reach the entrance of Verona Trade Fair from the door of Corte Spinata, by train and bus, without the stress of traffic and parking!

*At the newsagent’s at the station or the bus ticket point (1,30 €) , area C1 outside the station to your right.
VERONA VILLAFRANCA AIRPORT can be reached easily from the station by SHUTTLE BUS (leaving from/to the AIRPORT every 20 minutes from 6,30 to 23,00). It leaves from area E1 outside the station, directly on the right. The journey takes 15 minutes. Tickets can be purchased on the bus from the driver or at the bus ticket point, area C1 outside the station to your right. Tickets cost 6€ per person, one way.
You can, of course, drive to Verona in an hour (60 km from Corte Spinata) and there are many car parks in the city centre (P. Bra’/ Arena).
We are happy to drive back guests who get the train to Verona to shows or operas at the Arena, and which usually end very late.
DAY TRIPS TO VENICE:
From 1st May '19 , tourists will to pay an entrance fee to enter Venice :3€ per person per day. Guests staying at CORTE SPINATA can make day trips to Venice easily and cheaply.
BY TRAIN VIA VERONA (OSTIGLIA- VERONA-VENICE) First Leave Corte Spinata and get to OSTIGLIA railway station .Get on at platform 2. In 20 minutes, you will reach Verona Porta Nuova station. When you arrive at Verona Porta Nuova Station, you can take trains for Vicenza, Padova and Venice
Trains to Venice are very frequent, with prices according to speed, etc. The trip normally lasts one hour or at most an hour and a half.
The ticket with TRENITALIA costs 9.05 € per person, one-way, travelling second class on the regional/ local train. You can purchase your ticket from the ticket vending machine at Verona station. Get a second class ticket (VERONA PN - VENEZIA-SL ) on the regional /local train going to VENEZIA-SL . Don’t forget to validate the ticket before getting on the train or you can get a fine.
Of course, you can DRIVE to VENICE in an hour and 40 minutes from Corte Spinata (it’s 140 km from Corte Spinata ). For information about parking you can check "avmavmspa "or "veneziaunica” or download the App „AVM Venezia Official App „. When parking in Venice, we suggest you book beforehand.
Day trips to BOLOGNA (leaving from OSTIGLIA station)
BOLOGNA can be reached by train easily and cheaply First, Leave Corte Spinata and get to OSTIGLIA railway station . Get on the BOLOGNA train from platform 1, you will reach BOLOGNA in an hour.
When coming back, you can purchase your ticket from the ticket vending machine at BOLOGNA station.Get a second class ticket ( BOLOGNA-OSTIGLIA)on the regional /local train going to VERONA. Don’t forget to validate the ticket or you can get a fine. After an hour on the train, get off at OSTIGLIA.Trains to and from Bologna run very often on this line. You can check the timetable on the "TRENITALIA" website or download the "TRENITALIA " app. The ticket costs €6.60 per person, one-way, travelling second class on the regional/ local train. Trains to and from Bologna run very often on this line. You can also drive to BOLOGNA in an hour and a half, it’s 92 km from Corte Spinata.
