Why Owner chose Crooked Lake
Our family has enjoyed Weekend Getaways for several years. We have rented many cabins across Minnesota and completely fell in love with the cabin at Roosevelt Pines. The cabin was everything we expected and more. When it became available to purchase, we knew deep down that it was meant to be! We have enjoyed making memories with our family and we want to provide that same experience for others. T.R.'s Lodge is located 1 3/4 miles from Outing,MN. It's near Roosevelt Lake which was named for President Theodore Roosevelt. We named the cabin T.R.'s Lodge in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt as well. We love his whole-hearted devotion to family life and his passion for the Great Outdoors.

Wonderful getaway spot for our family of 4!
Our family spent Easter at this sweet little cabin less than three hours away from the Cities. The cabin was the perfect size for the four of us. The loft, with a queen bed and a trundle bed, was a cozy sleeping spot. We spent most of our time in the living room reading books, watching movies, playing games, putting together puzzles, and watching the great outdoors. The first morning, we watched a fox scamper, play, and hunt(?) only 100 feet away from the cabin. I cooked our Easter dinner in the well-stocked kitchen. We played in the snow a bit and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows in the fire pit...thanks for the fire starters and dry wood! Dinner out at the Village Inn in Outing was mediocre. But lunch at the Iron Range Eatery in Crosby was excellent. We found a brochure in the cabin for the Black Fiamond Equine Center...our kids enjoyed a short horse riding lesson...they offer trail rides in nicer weather...maybe next time.
We are happy to hear your family enjoyed a nice quiet Northwoods Getaway! Thrilled to read you saw a fox. We must be too loud because we rarely see wildlife other than chipmunks and squirrels. Thanks again for the lovely review. We'd love to have your family return!
Nice place to relax.
We spent two nights in this cozy cabin. The place was a great size and had all the basic amenities we needed. The temperature outside was terrible so we were stuck inside the entire time which was fine because we are great at entertaining ourselves. We are rating this cabin at 4 stars rather than five due to a few reasons. We were under the impression that the cabin had a fireplace we could enjoy as it is listed as one of the amenities. The fireplace is very tiny and sits on the floor. When turned on, it trips the fuse. Also, the cleaning list is rather extensive for such a short stay.
We did enjoy ourselves and thought the place was very cute.
So comfortable and cozy. It was the perfect Christmas for our family!
Overall had a great time at this cabin. Great relaxing spot for my wife and myself to take a break from work for a few days. Cabin was everything we anticipated and was perfect for doing puzzles, games, and watching movies. Would defiantly recommend this location to anyone!
When we arrived at the cabin it was freezing outside with winds had to be 50mph. The cabin heated up so quickly and was very cozy. The place was decorated beautifully and we constantly found new artifacts to enjoy. We were excited a few days later when the winds died down and we were able to have a fire in the pit. Pairs of deer entertained us at dusk as they wandered through the property. Wee enjoyed our stay at your cabin very much.
Easily could have been a great stay .
Cute cabin peaceful location. Felt very private . Disappointed that there was not ample firewood or propane for grill . Seems like small things but was looking forward to campfires and grilling out . I don't think this is a normal just an unfortunate oversight during our stay .
Outdoor recreation opportunities include hiking, cross country skiing, and mountain biking on the Washburn Lake ski trails, the solitude area at Washburn Lake, and the Moose River ATV Trail. Public access to Lawrence and Roosevelt Lakes is two miles from the cabin. Picturesque Crosslake is 18 miles from the cabin and the Cuyuna Mountain Bike Trails are located in Crosby, approximately 25 miles from the cabin.
