You would find yourself on the 'mini Cabot Trail' as highway 337 is fondly known with picturesque fishing wharves. Nearby are numerous hiking trails, ranging from easy to moderate and challenging along streams and through wooded areas. From your deck, you will likely see bald headed eagles which live in the area as well as numerous birds, deer and local wildlife. Sea kayaks are available for rent nearby, you would kayak right out in front of your vacation rental. Boyd's Seafood Galley, located on Cribbon's Wharf is well known for its' seafood in a very pretty setting, overlooking the fishing boats.
The town of Antigonish is home to St Francis Xavier University. The St F X Fitness Centre is open to the public with excellent fitness equipment and pool (including aquasize). There is a highly rated 18 hole golf course, as well as tennis, nice restaurants, live theatre (summer months) and good shopping in a stress free pace of life.
You would be in a central area for touring, about halfway between Halifax and Sydney with access to Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail, historic Louisbourg, Bras d'Or Lakes and numerous golf courses such as the renowned Cape Breton Highlands and Bell Bay. Pictou (45 min) is where the first Scottish settlers arrived on the ship Hector which has been replicated, full scale, at the Pictou waterfront. Near there is one of the largest private collections of Canadian Art at Abercrombie, open free for viewing on Wednesdays in July and August. For those of you who wish to enjoy Nova Scotian music, you will find many céildh's and festivals in the summer and the fall during Celtic Colors.
The LOWER LEVEL would not have other people when you are renting the main floor. The property is also available for $475,000 US.

We rented property in July 2014. I thought better late then never to write a review. We had our two grand-daughters with us and had such a lovely holiday. The house was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything you could possibly need but of course it was the view that took our breath away. We had a lobster dinner and kitchen was well equipped to make lovely meals. thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
We loved the setting - right on the cove - very scenic and oh so quiet - yet near to town for food shopping, gas, hiking trails, highway access, etc. House is very nice - fully stocked kitchen, big windows, deck, comfy beds, lots to read -- everything we needed!
Picture a rental being fully equipped with all the basic necessities, then multiply that by ten. It is exactly as pictured in the listing photos, but even more charming than it appears in those pictures. Sylvia, the local lady responsible for maintenance does a remarkable job - we are certain that you will find the place spotless.
The owners, even though they reside in Calgary, were extremely helpful in highlighting the not to be missed local attractions. We got caught up in the local history, and found many places abounding with information.
There are many local restaurants worth visiting in the town and surrounding area. At the risk of repeating other reviews we enjoyed Boyd's Seafood Galley at Cribbons Wharf, as well as several in the town itself.
We would strongly recommend this property to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat. Five Stars+++
We enjoyed our stay at this house (except for the heat, discussed below). The home is lovely and has a wonderful view over a beautiful bay. We are birders and set up our scope at the picture window and watched eagles, loons, osprey and other birds. We also enjoyed the town of Antigonish and the University there (about 5 miles from the house, an easy drive). There are some nice beaches nearby and a great drive up to Cape George Lighthouse. The house is well appointed, very clean and has everything you need. There is a nice deck area over looking the water. The only negative we had was that it was very hot for the last few days of our stay there ( 30 degrees C) and the living area with the large windows got too hot in the sun. There is no air conditioning and no shade for the windows.
The house is lovely on a very quiet section on waterfront. The photos are accurate - the view is spectacular. It is a relaxing get-away destination for sure. The town nearby is small, but there are nice restaurants. It is close enough to do a day trip to Cape Breton Island. Bald eagles are nesting close by. The house is very well maintained with all necessary amenities. Recommended for people looking for quiet relaxation in a beautiful setting.
Beach walking, berry picking, lobster/salmon suppers in season, buying lobsters at the wharf, bay is excellent for kayaking/canoeing.
