About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

We have just completed repairs from Hurricane Matthew and are ready to rent again! Our beach house is located in South Ponte Vedra Beach, FL located directly on the ocean between Jacksonville, Fl and St. Augustine, FL. The beaches are quiet, relaxing and refreshing. Enjoy our large roofed deck overlooking the ocean, our paved patio, private outdoor shower with hot and cold water, boogie boards for riding the waves.

Don't forget to take in a night time walk on the beach, the stars are amazing.

About The Owner

Our wonderful beach house has been in the family since the 1980's. We have had many great times there. The house is recently repaired from Hurricane Matthew and we would like to share it with you.

The Owner purchased this house in 1996

What makes this house unique

Our beach house is located on a stretch of A1A surrounded by a State Park on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. The beaches are wonderful and not crowded. We are just 10 min to historic St. Augustine, FL where you will find many fun things to do and see. The dining is very good (don't forget to try the local minorcan chowder). There are hiking trails, boat ramps for the intracoastal and a nature center at the State Park a short one mile away. Ponte Vedra Beach, home of the TPC golf tournament is just 20 min north.

Quick Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We decided to plan a quick family getaway with us, our 2 (almost 3) year old, Grandma, and Aunt. The house was plenty large enough for the 5 of us. The kitchen is well stocked and we were able to eat almost exclusively at the house. The beach was beautiful and very private. I think we saw maybe 5 others total on the beach while we were there. The house is close to restaurants and shopping. The outside shower was awesome for preventing a sandy mess with the toddler! Would definitely visit again!

Thanks!

A Day at the Beach-Next Time.

  • 5 of 5

We had planned a 3 day stay at the beach with my daughter and her family from Tennessee, but Hurricane Matthew had other plans. The storm seems to have swept the coast right near the property. I contacted the owners Wednesday the 5th, just before the storm, and expressed interest in rescheduling for later in October or perhaps early November. They were very willing to work with us and I will be contacting them later this week after they and their neighbors can assess what damage, if any, has occurred.

Wonderful, can't wait to go back

  • 4 of 5

We visited in March to have time at the beach over spring break with my family from England. The location was perfect. Only 2 hours from Orlando, where we live, so quick drive with the kids.

The house was in a perfect location, with incredible views from every window of the beach. We got up every morning to watch the sunrise and we could see the sunset behind us in the evening.

The house was beautiful inside, very clean and nicely decorated. The house was extremely well stocked with everything we could have needed, plenty of towels, sunscreen, dish soap, laundry detergent, foil, etc. They even had many boogie boards, surf boards and sand pails and beach supplies.

We loved the sound of the waves at night and sitting on the balcony.

The only negative thing I can say is that there was some traffic noise from the busy road behind, which is obviously beyond control, and it was a little difficult getting out onto the road. This however wouldn't stop me coming back. We had a wonderful vacation together and very memorable too.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review of our property. During the winter of 2015 St. Johns County decided to put ridges in the road to warn vehicles if they were leaving their lane. These ridges were very noisy. During the winter of 2017 the county repaved the roads and did not put the ridges back. The road noise is substantially lower. The speed limit along A1A is 55 mph so you can still get some noise off the the road. With these high speeds it is always best to use caution exiting the driveway.

Beach Stay

  • 4 of 5

We rented this house for our family of 6 plus a 4 year old for Labor Day Weekend. The house was a perfect size for us. The deck and oceanfront view with breezes was amazing. The beach was quiet and enjoyable. I even got my 85 year old father to climb down the stairs to the beach, which he hasn't done in 20 years! The metal connectors under the deck are rusted out and need to be replaced asap, also the deck table and chairs are very rusted. Everything was supplied that we needed and we would be happy to stay here again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review on our property. Many of the homes in the area were damaged severely from Hurricane Matthew in October of 2016. We have just finished a complete deck replacement with new railings, new steps to the home and new steps to the beach (June 2017). I'm sure that all of our future guests will find these safety issues have been addressed. The deck furniture has also been replaced with brand new furniture.

Nice but need some maintenance for safety.

  • 3 of 5

The home itself accommodated our family of 4 very nicely. It was satisfactorily appointed and quite comfortable, though the shower in the main bedroom was quite small. This home has an elevated deck which offered great views. However the deck, and railing needs a lot of repair/replacement. Wood is starting to rot and fasteners are rusting through The railings are all very loose because of rusted bolt and screw connections. One panel of rail was detached from the posts. There was a loose tread on the wood stair leading to the deck. At the underside of the deck, the vast majority of joist connections were rusted through. I advised my family members and guests not to lean on the rails at all, as they were not safe. ( I am an architect).

It was apparent that the outside of the property had not been cleaned for a while before our arrival. There were several large spiders and webs under the deck, in the parking areas, and in the area of the outside shower below. No one wanted to venture in those areas, even after I cleaned up the spiders.

The landscaping needs to be trimmed and cut back a bit, especially along the path to the beach access.

There was no DVD player as advertised. It had broken down, before our arrival, but was not replaced.

Again, the property is nice for staying at the beach, but is showing is age on the exterior and needs some maintenance and repairs.

Be sure to try Caps on the Water and Aunt Kates for great food. They are nearby.

The owner/manager was quick to answer questions we had about the property before we arrive, and during our stay.

We would stay at this property again, if we see that the safety issues have been properly addressed.

wonderful beach house

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property and it was great. My son was graduating and we wanted to have a special place to celebrate. Beautiful views, great deck, right on the beach and lots of space to spread out for everyone coming over. Would definitely rent this place again.
