Why Maria Bucaro chose Templeton
Dancing Deer Farm isn't just another place to stay. With the focus of our non profit work, visitors can quickly feel the healing, calming and supportive energy that infuses this property. We encourage everyone who walks this land to be healthy, happy and respectful, and when that is done, you can't help feeling all of those things within yourself! It is our intention to have all of our guests leave our property feeling better than when they came.

Charming spot for large family gathering and rehearsal dinner
Comfortable home for family to gather together, prepare for hosting rehearsal dinner, get wedding-ready, and collapse afterwards! The carpeted, lighted, and sound-equipped barn was perfect for our augmented rehearsal dinner (65 guests). Surrounding acreage offered lengthy nature walks. My niece loved the hammock! Two fridges gave us ample space for food and beverages. Some of our house guests indulged themselves by showering in the rustic outdoor shower on the side of the barn! Wonderful stay!
Perfect spot for our Rehearsal Dinner
We were looking for a location to host a wedding rehearsal dinner the day before our son's wedding. We found the Country Haven and the Barn via VRBO. It was great! There was plenty of room for our family to spread out in the house. The kitchen was well stocked with 2 refrigerators and the BBQ got a workout. The living and dining areas were comfortable.
We comfortably hosted 114 people for the rehearsal dinner in The Barn and had room for more. As an added bonus the tables and chairs were included in the barn rental. Major home improvement and grocery stores were nearby for any last minute items that needed to be purchased. Maria was great in answering our numerous questions and in giving us contact info for caterers. The wedding venue was near the barn and the house. Had we needed a location for the wedding this would have worked out perfectly too.
This was a great location and we could not have been more pleased! We heartily recommend this location.
Such a perfect place for my Grandmother’s Memorial and family gathering!
We had such a special and beautiful weekend together as a family, staying at The Country Haven! We had a Celebration of Life for my grandmother in the Fawn Hill Barn adjacent to the home on a Saturday and our family members from out of town and out of state were able to arrive and settle in at the Country Haven Friday afternoon, which really helped us to spend time as a family by being all together at a single location and not spread out through hotels. The property is absolutely stunning! Our time there was during May and the springtime weather and scenery around the home was just magical, to say the least. We were so lucky to find this home and venue to house our family and also welcome guests to come celebrate the life of a loved one here on the beautiful central coast. The home is clean and spacious and the views are incredible. We cooked together and went for hikes on the property (Check out the Peace Circle trail near the home!) the rooms were cozy and the whole home was perfect for our needs! The event barn is an amazing space too! We were able to set it up with decor and photos and memorabilia of my Grandmother’s life and also set up (the provided) tables and chairs to seat about 65 people as we ate together and spent time reminiscing and celebrating. This property, home and event barn were nothing short of PERFECT for our family weekend. We were able to pack up and enjoy the beautiful morning after the memorial on Sunday together with a big family breakfast (the long table/family-style seating in the dining room was awesome for our large group, as we had about 14 people staying at the home) and it was the perfect ending to a truly wonderful and special weekend!!
Perfect for Large Groups
A group of 12 of us stayed here for our bachelor party weekend and it was everything we needed. The property was beautiful and I had some more time to explore the grounds. The house was very spacious and it was great that all 12 of us had our own beds (which was appreciated by everyone).
Maria was very responsive and while we didn't really need anything during our stay, I feel confident she'd be able to help out if that was the case.
This is a great layout and location for any large groups looking to stay in wine country.
Always a wonderful experience for leaders and attendees at our annual retreat.
This is home for our annual training retreats in Creative Journal Expressive Arts. The Country Haven and the Barn classroom are ideally suited for our size groups. The natural setting is so beautiful and restful. It is truly a place to leave stress behind and experience living in the moment. We are grateful to have this as our new home after 20 years of trainings in Canada, California and Texas. Our participants are also grateful for field trips on their own to Cambria, the coast, nearby Paso Robles and Templeton. The central coast has so much to offer.
Perfect place for a weekend with friends and children
This is the second time visiting Dancing Deer with a group of friends with children. We had a great time. It is hard to find a place with 6 bedrooms. The kids had fun running around and playing outside. The adults were happy to catch up, do some running and hiking in the area and go wine tasting within walking distance. We already are talking about coming back again.
With the coast only a 30-minute drive away, you can easily visit the beach for surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, and parasailing in Morro Bay, Cayucos or Cambria. And just north of that, visit the elephant seals and Hearst Castle in San Simeon!
If you are here during the summer months, the Mid State Fair in Paso Robles is always a favorite activity, and easy to get to at only 8 miles away! Head south 30 minutes into San Luis Obispo for more central coast fun, including hiking some of the Seven Sisters of San Luis Obispo - our famous peaks of volcanic remains!
We have hot springs just a few miles away, and on site healing practitioners offering a variety of healing modalities, so if you'd like to ensure your stay is relaxing and rejuvenating, we've got you covered!
And if you like good food and good wine - this is the destination for you! With nearly 200 wineries in the county (two are directly across the street from us!), and a farmer's market almost every day, your taste sensations will be pampered and nourished!
If lake activities are your thing, it is a short drive to several area lakes: Santa Margarita, Nacimiento and San Antonio. Enjoy fishing, camping and boating activities!
Take some time to appreciate our state's history with visits to some of the original California missions - Mission San Antonio de Padua, Mission San Miguel Arcangel, Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa and Mission La Purisima Concepcion are all within driving distance.
Come let us show why some have called this the Happiest Place in America!
