Breezin Up Villa is located in a cluster of three villas on a hillside overlooking the ocean near the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula and is located midway between the lively town of Montezuma with its many restaurants and activities for tourists and the sleepy fishing village of Cabuya. Some properties offer ocean views but few can boast of ocean views over the Gulf of Nicoya and the Pacific from every room. The villa is a peaceful retreat and a great vantage point from which to observe the tidal changes at Cabuya Island or the beach at Playa Los Cedros. Its hard to say which is more compelling the ocean views or the cattle roaming the hillside and valleys below the villa or the distant hills at Cabo Blanco Nature Preserve.

Breezin Up offers the perfect place for families and friends enjoying a group vacation. At almost 2000 sq. ft of living space, the villa offers three bedrooms, each with own full bath and private terrace. You’ll have privacy when you need it yet ample common areas for socializing. Nothing beats having good Costa Rica coffee in the morning on your private terrace as you watch green parrots fly by and listen to deep resonant sounds of the howler monkeys.

Its contemporary three level design gives the villa a distinctive vantage point on the hillside. Once through the gate, you’ll drive up a paved drive to the villa. There you’ll find a carport, laundry area, outside shower, and, most importantly, a six person hot tub landscaped with tropical plants for privacy. Whether during the day or night, the hot tub offers you the perfect place to relax amid tropical vegetation.

The villa has tile floors throughout which are cool under foot and easy to keep clean. The main living area offers a living room, dining area, eating bar, and kitchen with all the bells and whistles: side by side refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, ample solid wood cabinets, and granite countertops. It is a great space for group meals that can extend out onto the terrace. The floor plan is open and airy with ocean views from every room and has ample natural ventilation for its many windows and doors. By nine o’clock the villa catches the morning breeze from the ocean and reverses to a land breeze in the evening.

Each room is air conditioned for your comfort but there is seldom a need to use it. Ceiling fans throughout are usually sufficient to keep the villa comfortable when there is little breeze. A guest bedroom is removed from the living area and enjoys a private bath and terrace with great ocean views. Lying in bed you look out over the water toward Cabuya island..

The top level contains a large master bedroom with cathedral ceiling and a separate guest bedroom that mirrors the one below. The master bedroom offers a large walk in closet and contains a small breakfast area, special place for an intimate breakfast. You can sip your morning coffee in the privacy of your room as you watch the sun rise over the Gulf of Nicoya. Prefer to be outside, you can sit in Sarchi rockers on the large terrace off the master bedroom and enjoy ocean and valley views. The room is expansive with ample ventilation and big views. No claustrophobia here. Even the large all tile master bath provides a window facing northward along the coast to Montezuma and Tambor beyond.

Breezin Up Villa provides a telephone and high speed internet with WIFI. If you must stay in touch with folks at home, you can sit on the terrace with your laptop and a cool drink. We think it sure beats a crowded internet café.

Year Purchased: 2006

About the owner: Liese and Jim are not new to the hospitality business. They offer over 20 years experience in hospitality and so understand the needs of guests. They own and operate two bed and breakfasts on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Liese is a retired nurse anesthetist and Jim is a retired University professor and academic administrator. They also operate a kayak sales and tour business in Maryland. They have a passion for the natural environment which is what attracted them to Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Jim and Liese split their time between their businesses in the States and living in Costa Rica four months each year.

Why the Owner Chose Cedros, Costa Rica:
Jim and Liese were attracted to the ocean views, the flowering tropical plants, and the rural location of the villa. They love waking to the sounds of howler monkeys, watching green parrots fly by, or having coffee on the terrace and watching the sun rise over the Gulf of Nicoya. They love the gentle ocean breezes on the hilltop and the ability to walk down the hill to the beach. The casa is a short drive to attractions like Montezuma and Cabuya and grocery shopping and services including banking in Cobano yet it offers privacy, peacefulness, and security. They recognized guests looking for an active vacation would find hiking, waterfall climbs, zipline tours, horseback riding on the beach or in the mountains, group or self guided ATV tours, snorkel trips, and surfing. Or, if pampering was needed, a variety of yoga retreats and message treatments. Truly there was something for every guest. They had the villa built in 2007 and continue to enjoy vacationing in the area at least four months out of the year.

The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Guests will enjoy going to the beach about 3pm when the sun is not as hot and when the locals walk their dogs on the beach. The late afternoon is best enjoyed with a bottle of wine, and a baguette of bread from the bakery in Cabuya, and some cheese. Take extra cheese to feed our furry canine friends. Evenings are special as you watch car headlights make their way along the coast road between Montezuma and Cabuya. It is the simple pleasures guests come to enjoy from their perch on a hilltop. Nights are dazzling when there is little moonlight and the planets, constellations, and star clusters show themselves brilliantly. Because of our location, there is little light to detract from their nighttime splendor. Jim and Liese help their guests by making recommendations for restaurants and activities and will on request make reservations for guests to the various area attractions and services. When they are not in Costa Rica, their bilingual property manager will meet guests at the Tambor airport or in Cobano and assist with their needs. Because he is very familiar with the area, he is on occasion hired by guests to serve as their personal driver and guide.
