Ala Aina Ocean Vista is a private, unique, 100% solar-powered B&B suite that is located on a former banana plantation. Nestled in an exotic lush tropical setting, our accommodation promises peace and quiet and offers guests sweeping ocean vistas. Enjoy lying in bed watching the ocean in your king-sized bed surrounded by windows overlooking tropical trees, Hawaiian flowers and rolling green lawns.

Our B&B suite offers a fully-equipped efficiency kitchen on the large private deck. You can cook 'under the stars'! There is an inside private bathroom with marble floors and tiled shower (roomy enough for two), as well as an outside bath and shower with lotus pond in your own little garden. Classic board games, ipod docking speakers, DVD and Direct TV for those that want television.

We are just 2 miles from, 7 Sacred Pools, aka The Pools at Ohe'o or also called 'Ohe'o Gulch'. Additionally we are 10 miles to the town of Hana, where the famous Hasegawa's General Store and the Hotel Hana Maui are located.

We are only 30-40 minutes to Maui's black and red sand beaches. Waioka pond, known as 'Venus pools', are a short 20 minutes away and Alele Waterfall is just 2 minutes away.

The best part is we offer each and every guest a romantic and quiet accommodation experience.

About Samadhi Butterfly

Originally from Michigan, I have been blessed to be a Hana, Maui resident since 1982. I run our B&B with my daughter. Together we have created this special place for our guests to enjoy and we keep busy making sure our 4-acre parcel is beautiful and manicured.

We were fortunate to have found this lush and peaceful spot on the Island of Maui. After my husband passed, my daughter and I needed a way to make a living, so we took advantage of having a space to renovate into a Bed and Breakfast, as this allowed Mercury (my daughter) and myself to stay at home, run a business and have a connection with wonderful folks from all over the world. This has worked out better than we could even imagined!

Samadhi Butterfly purchased this cottage in 1989

Why Samadhi Butterfly chose Kipahulu

We are 100% green (completely solar powered) and offer our guests the chance to enjoy the lifestyle and and views that one would expect of a tropical paradise. Although we are always happy to answer questions and can offer plenty of advice on any Hana activities or sightseeing spots, we ultimately respect the privacy of our guests and believe in making sure you have a peaceful and romantic stay while you are here. We are around when you need us… and respectful when you want to be alone.

What makes this cottage unique

We have the luxury of privacy, peace and quiet in our setting. Mercury and I enjoy staying on our blessed piece of paradise and working in nature to make things beautiful. We enjoy donating to the homeless with our abundant fruit from our trees. We get most of our social connections with the wonderful folks that visit our B&B. We enjoy being totally 'green' and helping provide true eco-friendly accommodations but with the creature-comforts one would expect of a wonderful place to vacation.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Mother-Daughter team do a great job at hospitality in their

"Piece of Paradise". We enjoyed two of our dinners on the lanai

watching the sunset. One dinner we ate off of the bamboo tray on our

bed because of the rainfall. As the evenings progressed, we would sit

at the table and read, eat tropical fruit from the property then

crawl into the king size bed and watch the geckos crawl up the

outside of the windows. The croaking frogs and light rainfall lulled

us to sleep several nights.

We enjoyed coconut milk, mangoes and bananas from the beautifully

manicured grounds (a former banana plantation).

Once we were greeted and shown around, we were given complete

privacy, unless we sought them out with a question. I bought a nice

costume jewelry necklace from Mercury's collection of handmade

jewelry. We appreciated all of the plumerias and other exotic flowers

used to decorate our room.

We would recommend Ala Aina Ocean Vista, especially for honeymooners;

lots of privacy and beautiful scenery. The only sounds we heard were

the mooing of nearby cows occasionally, birds trilling, the wind in

the mango trees and the frogs at night. Ahhhhh, lovely!

This is the exact opposite of Kaanapali's hustle and bustle. it's

remote, quiet & relaxing. If you want to rejuvenate and enjoy nature,

this is the place to stay!

Amazing place

  • 5 of 5

Such a cool location to relax and see the sights on that part of the island over a couple days. Loved cooking and eating breakfast on the patio with rainbows all around. Owners were very kind and take great care of the property. Highly recommend staying here.

Just beautiful

  • 5 of 5

If you’re looking for relaxation and beauty, this is the place. It is about a 2hr drive from the airport on Hana HWY but the scenery is just beautiful along the way. Ms. Samadhi was fantastic and would absolutely rent from her again.

Fabulous experience!

  • 5 of 5

There would be no way to experience the full trip to Hana and all that is possible to see along the road without staying in the area. This is a gem! We truly enjoyed the fabulous views, the warmth/greeting of Sam and Mercury and the outdoor kitchen and grill. A tip would be to pick up something to grill and a beverage of choice for an evening to be able to experience the environment. In addition to all of the other great things said by other guests, we really enjoyed having the head start on seeing the Sacred Pools and Waterfalls at Haleakala National Park which is only 2 miles from here. It allowed us a wonderfully beautiful and peaceful way to enjoy this splendor and only started getting crowded after we finished our hike. we found their hiking/sightseeing recommendations based on their local knowledge/experience very helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Amazing place!

  • 5 of 5

Ny wife and I have traveled throughout the world and in Maui for six previous visits. We have never stayed in such a gorgeous place. The beautiful mango, coconut, and banana trees coupled with the immaculately kept grounds overlooking the Pacific makes magical memories. Sam and Mercury are interesting and special hosts who made every effort to make our stay wonderful. Incredible!!!

Beautiful, private, mostly quiet and very green sanctuary

  • 4 of 5

The outdoor kitchen was cool. You feel apart of nature. Simple amenities. One step above glamping. The one room studio has its own entry door and deck. So you have your own place that is attached but completely separate from the larger guest building. The owner lives on the property in a different structure. There is a lot of little critters to seradade you at night. The mosquitos are serious. There was a giant cane spider inside to surprise us at 4:30 am. Google said it was not poisonous. The mattress is a basically foam so it is serviceable. About 40 mins from the black sand state beach

Peaceful and beautiful secluded cabin

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased to stay at this beautiful cabin-like home on the South part of Hana. The views on our drives were spectacular, and staying in this area ensured we got a head start on the tourists coming down to the many local attractions.

Hosts, Sam and Mercury paid special attention to details such as chocolates, flowers, freshly picked fruit, and showing us where we could pick our own on the property.

Every suggestion they gave us was spot-on and we weren’t disappointed!

Truly a beautiful place, with beautiful people, to reset and recharge in this otherwise busy world.
