We had a great stay at Compass Cottage
The house was super clean, serene, had everything needed to feel like we were at home. There's a lake right around the corner for kayaking, and it's a quiet neighborhood for walking/biking. A car is necessary for fetching supplies, but when we return to the house we completely forgot that we were on the Cape during peak season - it was so quiet. Plenty of beaches and restaurants a short drive away. The Cape Playhouse and Cinema (in Dennis, next town over) highly recommended, as is this vacation rental. Thank you Pat and Stephen!
My husband and myself and our two boys had the opportunity to stay at the Compass Cottage for a few days in August. The house was much more than we expected. Impeccably kept and so clean! We arrived a little early and the homeowner was still there finishing up getting the house ready for us--she was so gracious and welcoming! Pat showed us around and gave us a little history on the home. We felt like were staying in our home--we were so comfortable there. It was peaceful and quiet and close to Sesuit Harbor where we like to launch our boat from. The house was also closer to a lot of other great things to do without the typical Cape Cod traffic. We recommend Katie's for icecream and definitely take the hayride at sunset--awesome!!! My boys were sad to leave and we hope to return again.
Comfortable getaway retreat
My family of four spent a relaxing and enjoyable time at this quiet and well-maintained house. All of the beds are in good condition for a good night's sleep. Pat and Steve were the most accommodating and gracious owners we have met and it would be a pleasure to stay in this rental again for this reason alone. For families with teens that enjoy a little of a biking challenge, bike riding to beach off Paines Creek Road is a fun way to the beach (2.5 miles with hills); parking on this beach is free in mid-afternoon and perfect time to see sun setting. We had access to Wifi and most specially to a finely tuned piano, an unforgettable experience.
Returned to the Cape which is one of our favourite locations in America. The house was superb and exactly what we wanted. Peaceful and quiet but close to nature and with the local amenities within easy driving distance. The house was so comfortable it was home from home and we felt at ease from the moment we arrived. The stress of the long haul travel faded very quickly. We dined in for half our stay and the facilities were excellent for cooking and just relaxing with good food and fine wine. The house was very comfortable and Pat had thought of everything her guests would need making for restful nights and full days enjoying all the Cape had to offer. Pat went out of her way to make the booking process easy and the whole thing went without a hitch. Thanks Pat.
If you are considering renting the house, do it!! You will not be disappointed. When we are next back on the Cape, we will definitely be in touch with Pat to rent her wonderful property again.
Back to nature in this quiet, secluded cottage nestled in the Brewster woods. The grounds are private and abut a nature preserve. The cottage is clean and bright with natural light pouring in upstairs and downstairs windows. Rooms are comfortable with plenty of space for two to four people to spread out without getting in each other’s way. Beds are firm, so no backache in the morning. The open combination kitchen/dining area is perfect for dinner guests or an intimate candlelight supper for two. The screened in porch off the kitchen is a wonderful place to start the day with that first strong cup of coffee.
We wanted to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary someplace special and the Compass Cottage was the perfect choice. We prefer the Lower Cape, so the location was ideal for day trips to some of our favorite spots. At the end of the day, we were happy to return to our snug little cottage in the pines where we cuddled up on the couch with a glass of wine and a movie.
Owner Pat Selemon was gracious without being intrusive. The binder of information she leaves for her guests is helpful as are the many colorful brochures about the Cape and the Islands that overflow the basket on the piano.
Bottom line: We would definitely put the Compass Cottage on our list of favorites.
