My wife, 18 and 22 year old daughters and I had a fantastic stay at the Waikoloa Beach Resort, Hali'i Kai 18D for 10 days (March 26 - April 4). The 2 bedroom/2 bathroom condo is large and spacious, the kitchen is very well equipped, the bathrooms are modern, all the furniture/appliances/dishwasher/clothes washer/dryer/outside grill are well maintained and in very good working conditions. We appreciated all the amenities: beach towels, beach umbrella, boogie boards, tennis rackets, etc. The unit is on the top corner overlooking the tennis courts, and the out door patio faces the west. The entire area is very quiet. (Incidentally, we did not see one fly/mosquito/bug around the property nor frankly in our entire trip including driving around the entire island; a relief since we had heard about the dengue fever concerns prior to travel.) The unit is a 5 min walk from the pool/club house (lovely medium sized pool next to open air fitness pavilion and bar where food is served). This is where you need to go to see the spectacular sunsets. Hali'i Kai is a 5 min car ride to the nearest beach - Anaehoomalu Bay (known as A-Bay). All the beaches in Hawaii are open to the public. A-Bay Beach is in front of the Mariott and is ideal for snorkeling - just walk along the southern shoreline all the way out past the Lava Lava Beach Club (which is where you will find plenty of public parking). 9 miles north on Hy-19, go to Hapuna Beach which is rated #1 in USA - white sand, clear blue water, the cleanest beach I have ever seen (including Caribbean/Mexico/FL/etc). And 1 mile north of Hapuna is Mauna Kea resort with public beach access as well - it as nice as Hapuna, and 25% smaller. You will need to get to Mauna Kea before 8-10am to gain access to the limited (40) parking spaces; after which they close the public access. If you like beaches, go to these three. The Kings/Queens market place featuring upscale groceries are within the Waikoloa Beach Resort, and only a 5min car ride. For better value, drive 6 miles northwest to the Waikoloa Village Market, which is very good. And then for best value drive south to the Costco in Kona. 20 miles northwest along Hy-19 to Hilo, you'll find Waimea and great local restaurants - Hawaiian Style Cafe serves monster breakfasts! The Host (Kohala Luxury Rentals) was very responsive to all our questions prior to arrival and during our stay, and this was very much appreciated. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
The condo was clean and well equipped along with some left over spices and condiments, so we didn't have to buy everything. We were missing beach towels so we called the number and received 4 brand new large towels within a few hours. Excellent service. It is nice that both bathrooms have two sinks, however the one bedroom has two separate beds. Not a big deal but we were two couples and would have preferred a single large bed. There are TVs everywhere and the internet worked great. Also there is unlimited long distance telephone available. On the down side, we had some trouble getting the air conditioning to stay on during the night. It is programmed some how to turn off. Then we figured out that the thermostat, which is mobile, appears to have a motion sensor or something so we put it on our night table during the night and that seemed to work. Also, the master faces onto the road which has speed bumps and they are quite loud as cars--which don't slow down- go whap whap over them until the wee hours of the morning. Don't leave the window open. If you get the A/C to work you won't need to.

It was a pleasure to return to Halii Kai and stay in 18D. For the 5th time. Thanks to everyone at Kohala Luxury Rentals for making our stay so memorable. Wendee, thanks for looking after all the small details that contribute to a fun time on the Big Island, it was hard to leave and we can't wait to come back.
We really enjoy this location. We suggest that the bedding be improved and replaced and that pest control be contacted to control Ants in the kitchen.

This resort is beautiful! This condo is in the middle of the complex with close proximity to the tennis courts, basketball court and a short walk to the pool.
Inside, it had all the modern necessities one would require for a comfortable stay. It was clean and quiet and will provide a great home base for your vacation. I guess that is why we been to this resort 10 times now!!
This is a luxury 2 BR Unit in a gated community, very quiet and in excellent condition. The unit was modern, fully furnished, and very clean. Amazing Ocean Club (pool, sand bottom hot tub, restaurant and bar). Convenient to shopping and public sand beaches. Property Management is great to work with. Very responsive. We loved are stay.
