All the comforts of home!

  • 5 of 5

I can't imagine staying anywhere else if we returned to the Pittsburg area. This rental was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The camp had all the comforts of home but still had the rustic charm we were looking for in a vacation rental. We loved being able to make some of our meals at home and then relax in the recliners in front of the gas fireplace. The camp and yard were spotless and is obviously very well cared for. The location is perfect - easy access to restaurants, food shopping, hiking trails and Moose Alley (also the ATV/snowmobile trail access is just across the road). Nikki could not have made the rental process easier or more pleasant. She checked in to be sure our stay was great before we even made it home!

For dinner we highly recommend Tracy's Hillside Grille - it was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Their cheese battered fried brocolli appetizer was easily the best vegetable dish I have ever eaten! We also ate at Buck Rub Pub (not so good but it might have just been what we ordered) and at Rainbow Grille at Tall Timber Resort which is just a short walk from the camp (dinner there was fabulous and a little more "fancy"). We heard that breakfast at Happy Corner Cafe was delicious but never got there ourselves.

We recommend the hikes to Fourth CT Lake, Garfield Falls, Mt Magalloway Tower, Falls in the River, and Johnson Memorial Forest (this is an easy "woodland walk" just across from the fire station on Rt 3). Easy access to Colebrook and the Dixville Notch area via Route 145. Also make sure to visit the East Inlet (especially if you plan to kayak). We saw a moose cow with a calf right on the side of Rt 3. We also saw a grey fox, deer, and tons of cool birds. The dock was great for fishing. If you love bird/animal watching, hunting, fishing, kayaking, beautiful scenery, waterfalls, etc. this is the perfect place! Make sure you get a map of the area that includes the logging roads so you can really get out there and explore (we bought ours for $3.50 at the Tall Timber Resort just down the road).

We enjoyed our week at Westwood very much.

  • 4 of 5

The place was immaculate upon our arrival. Lack of hot water in the kitchen was remedied within a day upon notification to the owner. The sunsets were just gorgeous. The shallow water made for a great swimming spot. The cleaning lady was very friendly and helpful, especially when we locked ourselves out of the cabin. Having both a large deck and a sunporch made for two great places to relax and enjoy the view. Beds were comfy and cable TV and Wi-Fi were much appreciated.

Small but cozy. Great location.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a very relaxing getaway on Back Lake. The cottage is cute and perfect for a couple. Bedrooms and bathroom are very small and would not have been spacious enough had we brought our two teenagers along. The sunsets are beautiful, we very much enjoyed the fire pit and the garage storage space was perfect for keeping our UTV out of the rain. We would certainly consider staying here again.

Peaceful and cozy

  • 5 of 5

My husband, I and our two adult daughters spent a peaceful and relaxing week at the cabin. Our favorite parts were listening to the Loons every evening and our gathering around the fire pit. One of our daughters claimed the futon on the enclosed porch, as her favorite place to sleep! On chilly days we gathered around the gas fireplace and played board games. The cabin is welcoming and we enjoyed a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you!
