Comfortable and charming cottage on a quiet dead end road, directly on the scenic Housatonic River. Enjoy the large open grounds with a butterfly garden leading to the cottage.
Enjoy the spectacular view of the river through the glass siding doors in the spacious living room. The furniture compliments the wood-burning fireplace. The dining area adjacent to the living room brings in abundant natural light through the skylight and corner windows. The built-in seating with colorful loose cushions makes the area cozy. The dining area also faces the river.
The kitchen is fully equipped with major appliances plus a full array of cooking utensils and serving dishes.
The large master bedroom tastefully furnished with a queen size bed and antique furniture complete with window draperies in a fly-fishing motif.
The second bedroom with a full size bed is located on the opposite end of the cottage allowing complete privacy.
The Appalachian Trail intersects the village and many nature trails are available nearby. Many bike paths, bird walks, nature conservation activities are available as well.
Visits to the Berkshire area are a 45 minutes drive: Tanglewood, Shakespeare & Co., Berkshire Theatre Festival and nearby mansions such as The Mount and Naumkeag.
The renowned Music Mountain is just behind the cottage (8 minutes drive), which offers summer-long jazz and classical concerts. Nearby are the historical villages of Lakeville, Salisbury, Sharon and Kent for fine dining, antiquing and gallery visits.
The cottage is also close to Lime Rock Race Park (5 minutes).
Other outdoor activities include horseback riding, golf, swimming, down-hill and cross-country skiing.
Falls village is a quiet village and in fact is the second smallest hamlet in Connecticut. The cottage is close to Route 7 but located on a quiet private road.
I have enjoyed transforming this riverside cottage to open and comfortable interior spaces.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2008
I love to fly-fish. To have a cottage on the famous Housatonic River with an abundance of trout, is what I had dreamed of.
The cottage is situated near the Appalachian Trail and close to many exciting theatrical events. I would like other people to experience the cottage and its environs.
We spent 8 nights at this perfectly lovely cottage and could have stayed much longer, maybe a few months. It is in the most perfect location, a large private lot right on the Housatonic River. There is lots of room to sit outdoors and admire the scenic river or stay indoors in the very comfy living area. Although it was 90 degrees most days, I was eyeing the fireplace and wishing it were colder. The bedroom was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom huge, housing a very convenient washer and dryer. Everything was very clean and in perfect working order. Kitchen was small but absolutely fully stocked. The nicest aspect of this house, other than the privacy and peacefulness, was that it was clearly a working house that someone lives in regularly with everything anyone would need to get along. We loved it to death and hope to go back, this time with our bicycles, for another week in fall or spring. It is a very beautiful corner of CT.
We stayed for a long weekend, my husband and our baby and my parents. The home was very clean, very tranquil and peaceful and had absolutely everything we could have needed. The surrounding area is very beautiful and the location (with the river, being set back from the main road) is very relaxing. Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back.
Very much enjoyed the property as a home base for a long weekend getaway. The house was clean and comfortable with its open floor plan, and we found everything we needed on hand. The dining area with windows and skylight was especially enjoyable and provided birdwatching with your morning coffee. The setting was charming as pictured with a lovely garden under the pines.
The owner was very accommodating and was there to meet us for an early check in. Would stay again.
I felt peace and tranquility, as soon as I stepped inside this quiet cottage. Perhaps it was the gently flowing Housatonic River, a few yards beyond the living room’s sliding glass doors, or perhaps it was the comfortable, graceful way in which the cottage was furnished, but I felt my pre-holiday tensions begin to ebb before I had even set my suitcase down. I especially loved the quiet at night, with true country darkness making sleep feel like a deep, down-filled quilt. Meals were a joy in this cottage, set on a table under a skylight, with views of both the river and the surrounding woods. Walking on the nearby forest trails offered further glimpses of the greenish river, slipping quietly through the trees. For more stimulating fare, we drove a few miles to the center of Falls Village and walked close to the dramatically roaring Great Falls.
