Charming Stone House With Ocean View

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,000 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 7

A charming, historic stone house with a view of the ocean is a great vacation stay in a little slice of history. Located on a quiet street in a small village nestled among friendly villagers, this house used to be the home of Joao and Violante Pimentel and their seven sons. All of the boys slept in what used to be the attic space on the second floor. The house has now been raised to a full height to allow for 2 good sized bedrooms. The alcove in the kitchen where the stove stands today was once a stone oven where fresh bread and traditional Portuguese meals were cooked. This charming home is still owned by the sons who were born there. Come and stay in an unforgettable setting, while feeling the magic of history and living among the villagers in this beautiful little town on the island of Sao Miguel.

Minimum stay 1 week (7 days): Minimum stay at the house is 7 days. If less days required the price will remain as for a full week.

Charming little stone cottage

  • 4 of 5

Simple but surprisingly well equipped little house in a quiet little village. It was nice and clean. The shower was disappointing; a very small stream and no WIFI in the house. But overall it was a perfect place to relax and enjoy all Sao Miguel has to offer.

Child-friendly and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This charming old farmhouse was a pleasure to stay at during our visit to Sao Miguel. The house was a short drive from the airport and easy to find. We arrived after midnight and found a neat house with freshly made beds, plenty of information on activities and maps, and even some fresh bread and other breakfast items waiting for us. Our three children enjoyed the house, the bedroom, the garden and the quiet dead-end road with only the occasional dog, cow and tractor passing by. The washing machine in the laundry room was perfect for fresh clothes in the middle of the week. The house was a perfect staging point for activities. Some of our highlights were the thermal sea cove at Thermas Ferraria, sightseeing at Sete Cidades crater, hiking from Pico to Lagoa de Fogo, snorkelling at Ilheu Vila Franca do Campo sea crater, and swimming and sea food at Caloura Beach.

Charming, cosy, and quiet

  • 5 of 5

The listing is very accurate, the property is clean and well-maintained, the owner is very communicative and helpful and has anticipated guests' needs. I could heartily recommend this house - we had a wonderful vacation!

We mostly walked - using trails and on our own - and feel that this was our most successful activity. There aren't any restaurants close by, but we did have some nice meals when we ventured out; seafood was the most appreciated. It is not a shopping area either, which did not concern us. The local convenience store was good both for food and drink supplies, but also the owner speaks English and is quite helpful. Our ability to speak Portuguese is nil. The property is in a small town, but is basically rural and restful, with lots of history, and many songbirds coming to visit. Nothing is very far away if you have a car. Love this place!

Maison traditionnelle, rustique mais confortable

  • 4 of 5

Owner's Response: Thank you Pascale for your review. Even though we don't speak French, but were able to understand it's meaning. It seams that you enjoyed the house and your vacation. The Island is beautiful. We appreciate when our guests offer their input into their stay.
