Third story end unit with ocean view at Ocean Harbor. Enjoy the relaxing, inviting sun and sea breeze! High grade mattresses on queen and twin beds, includes bed linens. Both baths newly renovated. All the amenities anyone could want! Dog friendly, but cats not allowed due to others' allergies.
To let you know a little more about the condo, it is up two flights of steps being a third story unit. Bed linens are included, but you'll need to bring bath towels. I am attaching a map so you can see the location of my unit on the island. The address is 1404 Canal Drive, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 in case you cannot pull the map up and want to google / mapquest it.
It is located across the street from the ocean, but the public beach accesses are an easy 2 minute walk in either direction. It is very convenient for lunch and bathroom breaks! Plus you pass the pool on the way in so that makes for easy clean up (opens mid May).
If you are a dog owner, my location is great because I am four short blocks from Freeman National Park located on the north end of the island. Although dogs are not allowed on the beach strip from 9:00 to 5:00 at Carolina Beach from March 31st to October 1st, they are allowed to be on the beach in Freeman Park (even without a leash) . So just walk your dog four short blocks north (to the pier), and you're there! Doggy heaven! Plus it is only around a mile and a half to the north end of the island, which is the perfect distance if you're into exercise!
There's always a lot to do at the beach, with the boardwalk close by! Beautiful sandy beach ideal for walking or jogging, shell hunting, people watching or just soaking up the warm sun. Lots of activities for all ages- offshore fishing, scuba diving, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing/kites, biking, sensational golfing throughout the area, the fantastic aquarium at Ft. Fisher and the historical Civil War museum and old fort layout.
Take a day trip to historical Southport (30 min. by ferry from south end of the island - great bicycling trip too, from condo only have to pedal 5 flat miles to ferry), then on to secluded Baldhead Island, accessible by ferry only, with bikes and golf carts being the sole modes of transportation.
There is plenty of shopping in the area for the shop-a-holics (or on rainy days, which is quite rare), including the new Mayfair Center. Don't forget, the Outlet Shops are one hour away in Myrtle Beach.
Easy commute through the Wilmington International Airport. The Wilmington river front is only 20 minutes away with a true southern gentility and charm that is such an ingrained part of the area. Beautiful historic homes, fine dining, friendly bistros and coffee houses.
If you haven't enjoyed all of this by the time you leave, then the lure of the sand and sun, the seashells and seagulls, and the lull of the ocean waves must have mesmerized you! Enjoy, because we natives certainly do! Beware though, it is hard to return to reality.
