This light and airy cottage is only one block to the beach. Each of the two bedrooms has its own private bath. One bedroom has a double bed, the other a queen bed. There is also a twin trundle bed on the sun room, which provides sleeping space for two. The sun room has a half bath and a door for privacy. It also serves as a sunny dining room and a sitting room. The screen porch has a dining area, comfortable sling chairs and a relaxing hammock, with room for two. The second story sundeck offers peeks at the ocean. It is a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee, a relaxing meal, reading or sunbathing in the Adirondack chairs or evening stargazing. Because the yard is shaded by a giant ancient cedar and many live oaks, the house and yard feel very private. The private outdoor shower has both hot and cold water. The back yard is fenced to protect children and pets.
The uncrowded beach is a magnet for local surfers and is also great for boogie boarding. You can swim, sail and kayak in the ocean or go out in the creeks canoeing, kayaking, fishing and crabbing. There are several great restaurants on the island and even more in Mt. Pleasant, Sullivan's Island and Charleston. The Shops of Mount Pleasant and King's Street in Charleston offer wonderful shopping opportunities. Downtown Charleston offers Historic Houses, theater and The Gibbes Museum. There is something for everyone!

You do need to bring your own sheets and towels. You can pay $100.00 to have the house cleaned after you leave or you can do your own cleaning and the house will be checked. Normal check in time is 2:00pm and check out is 11:00am. If you are having the house cleaned, check out is 10:00am, to give the cleaner enough time. There is a maximum of 2 pets.
I prefer to be paid by check, but am able to accept both paypal and major credit cards.
Owner's cancellation policy:
50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.

About the owner: Our love of nature and the coast keeps us coming back to the Isle of Palms. We enjoy watching the birds and butterflies in our yard and the shore birds on the ocean and in the creeks. Our children now return here for visits from their present homes in Austin, Texas, Sacramento, California and Bologna, Italy. Mary and Morgan Maclachlan
Why the Owner Chose Isle of Palms, SC, USA:
When we moved to South Carolina in 1972 we came to the Isle of Palms as often as we could. We enjoyed the family friendly beach and the fact that it was less than 30 minutes to the beautiful, historic city of Charleston. When we had a chance to buy a cottage here in 1981 we jumped at the chance. We chose our house because it had a high lot with beautiful cedar trees. Only one ancient cedar tree survived Hurricane Hugo in 1989. The water came within a foot of our house, but the house and our newly built deck survived.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love walking on the beach in the morning with our border collie Livvy. She can run off lead until 9:00 am and until 10:00 am in the winter months. It is amazing how much fun the dogs and their people have during this time. We like to go to the Charleston County Park, just up highway 17 and to the Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge, a little further up highway 17 in Awendaw. Most of all we just like hanging out with family and friends in this beautiful place.
