About Mary Maclachlan
Our love of nature and the coast keeps us coming back to the Isle of Palms. We enjoy watching the birds and butterflies in our yard and the shore birds on the ocean and in the creeks. Our children now return here for visits from their present homes in Austin, Texas, Sacramento, California and Bologna, Italy. Mary and Morgan Maclachlan
Mary Maclachlan purchased this House in 1981
Why Mary Maclachlan chose Isle of Palms
When we moved to South Carolina in 1972 we came to the Isle of Palms as often as we could. We enjoyed the family friendly beach and the fact that it was less than 30 minutes to the beautiful, historic city of Charleston. When we had a chance to buy a cottage here in 1981 we jumped at the chance. We chose our house because it had a high lot with beautiful cedar trees. Only one ancient cedar tree survived Hurricane Hugo in 1989. The water came within a foot of our house, but the house and our newly built deck survived.
What makes this House unique
We love walking on the beach in the morning with our border collie Livvy. She can run off lead until 9:00 am and until 10:00 am in the winter months. It is amazing how much fun the dogs and their people have during this time. We like to go to the Charleston County Park, just up highway 17 and to the Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge, a little further up highway 17 in Awendaw. Most of all we just like hanging out with family and friends in this beautiful place.

Great location and wonderful beach!
Property was very close to the beach making it great for getting back for lunch and to get a break from the sun. Plenty of space for everyone. "The doggie door was an added plus" says Mr. Bojangles. Nice walking neighborhood and very dog friendly. Would stay here again if we come this way. Mary is very responsive and easy to work with.
We just wrapped up our fourth stay here. We keep coming back because of the great location, comfort of the space, and dog friendliness (it even has a doggie door!). Also, the owner is super responsiveness and great to work with.
Thank you for your kind words.
Pleasant experience. Easy walk to beautiful beach.
We had a great week on Isle of Palms. The house was charming! The walk to the beach was quick and easy. Our dog loved the backyard and walking around the beautiful neighborhood. Everyone was very friendly. Our only regret was that we didn't plan to stay for longer. Maybe next time!
Wonderful, comfortable home in great location
We had a very relaxing week at Isle of Palm’s, staying at this quiet house that was only a block from the beach. It had everything we needed.. dog friendly and child friendly, and clean and comfortable!
Thank you very much!
We enjoyed our stay in this cottage. it was a wonderful weekend. Thanks.
