The ~1700 square foot, three-Bedroom Guest Cottage is next door to the Owner's residence on seventeen acres at the end of a quiet dead-end street about a mile from the Courthouse Square. A two-Bedroom area has a full kitchen with open Living and Dining spaces connecting two two screened porches. There's also an overflow loft (suitable only for those young, fit, and able). A one-Bedroom area has a separate entrance, its own screened porch, Living Room and Kitchenette.
Downtown square and the Ole Miss campus are within walking distance and we adjoin the community rail-to-trail bike path, but most people drive.
Completely overhauled in 2008 by the architect/owner in a clean, country, contemporary idiom, the house features two screened porches with 9' wide door openings connecting them to the main living space, creating a contemporary 'dogtrot.' The back yard has a 340 square foot brick patio with a Weber gas grill available.
Enjoy great Ole Miss SEC sports or tune in the 42' HDTV. Walk to the Square and shop Neilson's, the South's oldest store, and Square Books, one of the nation's best independent bookstores, then succumb to an afternoon nap in the back porch's irresistible swinging bed. Enjoy Oxford's outstanding restaurants (two owned by 2009 James Beard Award winner, John Currence) or visit the seasonal local farmer's market 1/2 mile away, then get busy in the efficient and sociable kitchen.

We are an architect and antiquarian with grown children. The guest house and our house sit on seventeen acres. We can't let you bring your pets, because we have dogs of our own, and they aren't always hospitable (to other pets).
Dorothy Howorth purchased this cottage in 2000
This guest house is the only house past ours at the end of our dead end street, so we bought it and renovated it.
It's hard to find a luxurious spot this secluded but this close to the action in our little college town. This place gives you the option to join in or stay away and watch the deer and birds all day, and keep an eye out for the occasional fox.
This was our third stay at this house and it was as enjoyable as always! Oxford was swarming with folks in town for the Alabama / Ole Miss game, and though very close to town this house provided the perfect, quiet getaway for my husband and myself, my teenage daughter and her friend. The house lives large with 2 porches and plenty of yard to enjoy. Dorothy was prompt in responding and very accessible during our stay. I would recommend this house to anyone staying in Oxford.
Great weekend retreat for games or just visiting. The place was modern, clean and very comfortable. Very private and peaceful setting yet only a stone's throw away from the square and campus. Would definitely recommend.
Great spot - close to town, but far enough away and secluded to where you feel like you are out in the country. Owners were very accomodating during our stay. If/when i am back in oxford - will certainly look to stay in this property again. We had two families of 4 and 2 grandparents and all were able to stay here comfortably. House was in excellent condition.
We stayed two nights in the one bedroom and loved it. Whether sitting on the back porch swing or out back listening to the birds or watching the deer it is a very peaceful setting. The inside is comfortable with nice artwork and beautiful antique furniture. The owners were very gracious and gave us some great information about what to see and do while there. Walking distance to the square and other points of interest. Not only did we fall in love with Oxford we also found a place to stay on our return visits. I would highly recommend this cottage, especially to lovers of architecture, art, and nature.
The cottage was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed the open floor plan with access to 2 spacious screened in porches to host friends and family as we celebrated our daughter's graduation. Access to the campus and other favorite places in Oxford was very convenient.
We absolutely loved the Guest House. It was just perfect for my husband, daughter, her friend, and myself. The property itself is gorgeous, and we were able to go inside the 2 bedroom cottage. This place is the whole package!!! **Comfortable, clean, affordable, beautiful private land, and close to square and campus. You could not ask for more!!!! The owners are exactly what you expect from "Southern Hospitality" they could not have been sweeter and more helpful. We look forward to coming back and staying soon!!!
