Private Out Island Villa - with Boat and Caribbean Views

Sleeps6
Bedrooms 3

Property type villa
Minimum Stay 5 nights

Overview

About the property

Villa, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

The Island House is a short 6-minute boat ride from the Bay adjacent to Beef Island Airport in the British Virgin Islands. You can walk from the airport to the dock in under 5 minutes with your luggage. Do not let the proximity to the main island fool you. The house is on a private island and feels removed from the hustle and bustle of modern day living.

The accommodations at the house are simple. The expansive 180-degree Caribbean views are your main source of entertainment. At 300 feet above the ocean below, watching the clouds move across the horizon and sailboats under sail is a meditation in itself. Looking north from the main ocean deck there is no evidence of other homes and privacy reigns. At night the stars are unprecedented and there is little to no visible light pollution. There is also a rustic trail from the neighboring house to the rocky coast below. When the waves are calm from the north there is incredible snorkeling around the rock outcropping.

In the main house there is a master suite and guest bedroom, each with a queen size bed. An additional master suite with a queen size bed is below the main deck. The house is an ideal rental for two couples and it offers privacy for both or a family group (up to six).

Villa comes with a 15ft inflatable. 20 ft open console Sport Fisherman available for additional fee (contact owner for details). Boating skills required.

Flying from San Juan directly to the Tortola airport--which is 10 minutes from the house is the most convenient way to travel and saves half a days travel over flying into St. Thomas. Our caretaker will be waiting for you in your boat at the dock in Trellis Bay, just a 5 minute walk from the airport. No need for a cab or car rental.

What to bring-

Once you arrive in Beef Island at the airport, your costs beyond the rental price of the Island House are limited to food, alcohol and gas for the boat. Generally we bring our meats, cheeses, and other delicacies from the USA in a small cooler. Other provisions are readily available on Tortola and Beef Island.

Requirements

Sense of adventure, need of relaxation, relative self-sufficiency, power boating experience and appreciation of simple pleasures that beautiful scenery and privacy bring.

Great Property and Amenities

Third trip to Camanoe and first time staying at this property.

Excellent value to the trip for those enthusiastic for boating, snorkeling, and adventure seeking.

We had a busy itinerary for things to do so we really didn't get a day to enjoy the house but it was a perfect location to unwind after a long day out on the boat.

The inflatable is sufficient for Camanoe, Scrub, Marina Cay, and Guana but you will need to arrange an excursion for the Baths, Jost Van Dyke, or Norman. Our party rented a 19ft Trophy from TRC Boating on Scrub Island for 4 days to truly island hop, regardless of the conditions. I understand that they also offer captained day trips for those not familiar with the waters/ spots.

We had lunch on Scrub and dinner at the Last Resort and Marina Cay. We were really impressed with the renovations to the Last Resort.

The set up is stress free and extremely convenient for getting from the boat to the house.

WIFI was great for uploading brags on social media and was a decent speed for most of the week.

All and all, this is a great property to rent for adventure seekers or for those just looking to escape.

Enjoying Nature!

  • 5 of 5

After living aboard our ketch for 8 years, we were thrilled to find Island House on Indigo Plantation, Great Camanoe, BVI’s three years ago. With the 15’ Caribe inflatable with 50 hp Yamaha engine, and being surrounded by the Caribbean, this is as close to our sailing adventures as you can get living on land. The home has great views and is on the side away from Tortola, so star gazing is excellent. And it’s fun to watch boats go in and out of Lee Bay, which has excellent snorkeling. The home has been updated to today’s standards while keeping the charm of an island home. We bring our laptop and DVD’s to watch. With good internet service, we streamed on Netflix. The golf cart is a great way to get around. Lennox, the caretaker, meets us at the Trellis Bay Market (1/4 mile easy walk from the airport) upon arrival and to returns us there after our stay using the inflatable. This is a great place to get away from the craziness of life and experience nature.

Paradise soothed

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented this property with another couple. This rental delivered on all of its promises and exceeded our expectations. We ate most meals on the back patio looking out at the blue ocean and the handful of sail boats below. The panoramic views to the north were captivating. The kitchen was well equipped with quality cookware which made meal prep a pleasure. I have found rental places commonly have terrible cutlery, but that was not the case here and it made cooling so much more enjoyable. The two bedrooms were both comfortable and spacious. The ceiling fans were all you needed to keep cool at night. Each bedroom has an attached bathroom with a shower. I never touched either indoor shower, electing to use the perfect outdoor version exclusively. The central room is perfect for an evening game of cards and a cocktail.

The golf cart and pickup truck made navigating and exploring the island a breeze. The boat was easy to operate and was invaluable for moving from island to island to the next beach or snorkeling spot. There was no shortage of great sites to investigate within 5 minutes from the marina. Definitely snorkel off Monkey Point and West End Bay. Make sure to stop by Marina Cay for a cocktail and a snack. I also recommend taking a ferry to Virgin Gouda and visting the amazing Baths park. I really can not say enough about the beauty of the BVIs.

The owners were very helpful and answered all the questions we had before arriving, The caretaker, Lennox, made us feel very welcome and made sure our arrival and departure were headache free.

There is wireless Internet in the house, which I tried to avoid, but I must admit made us feel more connected in case anything were to go wrong. It was also great for looking up recipes.

All of this led to one of the most relaxing weeks of my life. We definitely plan on returning!

We had a delightful 11 day stay at this amazing property. The house is even better in person than the pictures show. The kitchen is awesome and the new tile makes it very sharp. Wrap around deck also has new tile and was perfect for sun as well as cocktails. Many hours were spent on the back deck watching the boats sail by and some good laughs watching anchoring on some rather breezy days. The outdoor shower was a real treat!

Walking from the house to Indigo Point daily with our morning coffee was great exercise. Keen sandles are better than sneakers since there is a great rocky beach at the bottom of the hill. The boat we used every day to investigate the many great spots. Get a taxi at Trellis Bay and go to Red Rock restaurant for dinner, EXCELLENT. We loved our stay ! The Island House is indeed special. Lennox, the caretaker was very helpful and an excellent source of information.

Wonderful - Wonderful - Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Our recent stay at the "Island House" was wonderful. The views are simply breathtaking whether you are lounging on the deck or making your way down to the boat basin for an outing to do a little snorkeling, beach combing, or shopping. Accomodations lack for nothing and the care taker is most helpful. This was one of many visits to Great Camanoe for us and hopefully not our last. It's a wonderful way to just relax and enjoy life. We recommend the "Island House" to anyone seeking a completely laid back get away. Looking forward to a return trip.
