This Oceanfront end unit condominium is in a gated community of only 5 small Oceanfront buildings. Our condominium is in the only building that faces more Westward than Southward, giving optimum ocean views and unlike other units, we have windows along the entire West and North side of the unit, offering ocean views from two sides of the condominium (including views from the living room, dining area, kitchen window, and master bedroom windows). We have a large 150mm Zeiss designed binocular telescope mounted in the living room to view, ships, whales and other wildlife (see picture). Our unit offers dramatic coastal views from a large balcony (the largest of the balconies available), a short trail to hidden sandy beach, and a wood burning fireplace; the perfect romantic getaway. The condominium is adjacent to a 12 mile coastal park. The trail along the coast begins on the property.

Brookings, Oregon is in the 'Banana Belt'; a 30 mile, temperate micro-climate zone, with relatively stable year round temperatures. Sunny days are more common here than anywhere on the Northwest coast. Brookings is 6 miles from the Northern California border. Within 30 minutes to ancient California Redwood Groves. To the North is a 30 mile scenic corridor containing some of the most beautiful, ruggedly scenic coastline in the world; the Wild Rivers Coast. We provide a wonderfully furnished, well appointed condominium. Unlike others, our price includes up to four people for no extra cost. If you wish to avoid the $300 deposit you can purchase insurance through HomeAway for about $75.

About Debbie

Interested in nature photography, ultra-lightweight backpacking, travel, and philosophy.

Debbie purchased this condo in 2010

Why Debbie chose Brookings

We literally traveled that world looking for a vacation home that would combine scenic beauty, low population, serenity, moderate climate, hiking accessibility, and ocean view. This offers all of these and more!

What makes this condo unique

Unlike other vacation rentals, we do not charge extra fees for the third and fourth guests. We have a mounted 150mm Zeiss designed binocular telescope in the living room in front of the large picture window. We have down comforters on both beds and two flat screen televisions. We offer extra ocean viewing along the entire North side of the building as we are an end unit. We have DVDs, a laptop, a nice stereo/cd player, and books to enjoy. We have one of the few wood fireplaces in the community. We have an espresso maker in the kitchen.

Gracious hosts

  • 5 of 5

Our family (3 kids) inauspiciously scheduled our vacation during the Chetco Bar wildfire which resulted in a mandatory level 3 evacuation after only 2 days. Our hosts were responsive, supportive and kind to us throughout our misadventure and released us from our contract in light of the circumstances. We are partial to the rugged Oregon coast and loved the few days that we were able to stay. The beach is an easy walk down a pleasant path manicured with wildflowers. Our kids loved exploring in the rocks. The condo itself is spacious with lots of room for kids to play. The master bedroom is well appointed with an inclining and massaging mattress which we enjoyed immensely. Neighbors are extremely friendly and even though you may be a guest, they look out for you. We met one of the HOA board members who was a great help. The condo is fully stocked with enough linens, towels, cookware, etc. for a family. Even paper products and toiletries were available. There is a Fred Meyer in nearby Brookings for anything you may have forgotten to bring. Brookings itself is charming with a small town feel and a community playground. We had a great time at the annual music festival. Ideal getaway, thank you Debbie!

Fabulous location. Clean and comfortable. Great beach access.

Rainbow Rock is a quiet location to enjoy beach walks, hang out on the balcony or walk along the Pacific Coast Trail. It's also well situated for exploring the nearby Redwoods. (Don't miss the State Park, co-managed by the National Park it is minimally developed. ) and taking jaunts to town to enjoy some of Brookings' restaurants. ( Oxenfre and The Black Trumpet were two of our favorites. ) The condo itself was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed (including a nice selection of spices in the kitchen which isn't always the case in rentals.) . When at the condo we spent most of our time on the balcony watching birds, seals and the local otter family. . What a view!! Would love to come back during whale season. We put the super scope to use none the less. Debbie was helpful and efficient in responding to our questions. All in all a memorable. experience.

We loved our time at Rainbow Rock Retreat! So glad that this condo is available as we hope to return. What an amazing visit - great views, trail to beach and beach to explore. So relaxing yet so close to adventure. Debbie was great to work with. Try O'Holleran's for dinner. Hope to return.

The condo was very nice and well maintained. The view was fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location and had perfectly sunny weather for the 2 days we were there. Loved hiking the Coast Trail that can be picked from the condo parking lot. The trail led through the woods and along the bluff to a beautiful beach and lookout with fragrant wild azaleas in full bloom along the way. We would definitely stay here again! The view of the ocean from the condo is amazing and the experience was so relaxing.

We hit the worst weather of the year. We couldn't hike and we couldn't

Use the exercise equipment, otherwise we had a nice relaxing week.

Owner's Response: It's always disappointing when the weather doesn't cooperate when we're on vacation. The rec room and the equipment inside is not offered to guests. It's available only to owners. I'm glad you had a nice, relaxing week. It is our goal to provide comfortable accommodations.
