A perfect home away from home in the beautiful Hudson Valley

Gracious, clean, well appointed home with a cozy vibe. Living quarters all on one floor, no stairs to worry about. Great location close to town and neighboring amenities. Explore the Hudson Valley in comfort from this charming country sanctuary in the woods.

Only a leisurely two hour drive from New York City, this modern home is located on a scenic country road, ten minutes from the village of Rhinebeck. A popular weekend destination, Rhinebeck is well known as the home of Omega Institute (5 minute drive) as well as for its boutiques (Haldora, No Sugar, Winter Sun & Summer Moon, Cesare & Lili, etc), specialty shops (Paper Trail, Face of Stockholm, Hammertown, Oblong Books & Music, etc.), and fine dining (Gigi Trattoria, Arielle, Starr Place, Terrapin, Sabroso, etc). You can even see a first-run independent film at the popular art house cinema Upstate Films. Rhinebeck is also home to the Dutchess County Fairgrounds which hosts the famous Dutchess County Fair, the annual Sheep and Wool Fest, Rhinebeck Antiques Fair and many more events throughout the year. Day trips to Woodstock, the Berkshires, Dia Beacon, Storm King, Olana, the FDR library and Vanderbilt Mansion are easy to make.

Accommodations: Our contemporary abode is a perfect home away from home. Easily accommodating four to six people, the open floor plan is cozy and inviting. Families are welcome (no pets please). We have three bedrooms and two full baths, a modern chefs kitchen (and outdoor gas grill), a screened-in back porch with picnic table, and a fireplace where you can warm your bones after a long day. For your convenience, we have an easily accessible washer and dryer as well as a TV and DVD player. Our well-stocked bookcase includes a section dedicated to the historic Hudson Valley. Two adult bikes and a child’s bike are also available for your use.

Gardening: We also offer a wonderful environment to get in touch with your inner gardener. Whether you want to mulch, weed, rake, water or all of the above, you are welcome to make use of our many flower beds. We will provide the knee pads, trowels, etc. Let us know what you want to do, and we will help.

Kicking Back: If you simply want to get away from it all and enjoy the nature, the area offers excellent birdwatching, hiking, apple picking, biking, and horseback riding minutes from your front door. You can also kick back on our private landscaped three acre property and read a great book, or play a rousing game of Bocce on our full size court.

About Paul English

Hi, my name is Paul English and my family and I own this wonderful property. We live in Brooklyn and felt it was very important that we had a place to go to getaway from the city and spend time in nature. We have two little boys and we wanted them to have the opportunity to be able to play in the woods, to have a large yard to play in, to keep a garden and to observe the natural world. We love our trips to this beautiful spot in the Hudson Valley and welcome you to come and enjoy it as well.

Pleasant Retreat in a Lovely Area

  • 5 of 5

We met our son and daughter-in-law here for a weekend at Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. The fall colors were wonderful and the weather almost perfect. The house is very well equipped with precise instructions and details on use of the facility. The only thing we found lacking was knives in the kitchen. There was one paring knife to carve our flank steak with and slice bread. I'm sure this type of thing "walks away" more often than not. I apologize now for others who may have permanently borrowed them.

On a whole, this was a very well equipped rental with wonderful new appliances that were a treat to use. It is convenient to many of the local attractions and not far from groceries and other shopping. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Spring Break at Rhinebeck Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Loved the property and the serenity of the area. Our daughter and her family came from NYC to meet us during the children's spring break. The convenience of Amtrak made the area very attractive to us. Even though the weather was on the cool side we enjoyed our walks around and near the house. The grandchildren loved the trampoline. We gathered around the cozy fire place after our outdoor activities which included bocce. The owners provide everything that's needed for a comfortable stay. Paul was very easy to work with and always responsive to our questions. Would love to come back in the summer.

winter respite in Rhinebeck

  • 5 of 5

Myself, partner and two of our close friends spent a lovely winter weekend in this

spacious, cheery, and comfortable house. The kitchen was exceptionally well stocked with

everything we needed to prepare our meals with plenty of counter space and room to move around. The picture windows throughout the house created a beautiful winter scene with the fresh snow drifting down from the trees, and the beds were very comfortable and roomy. There was an extensive DVD library and we entertained ourselves watching movies that we brought and others from the collection that was there, while we were watching the winter wonderland outside. We hope to visit this house again in the springtime, as it has a screened in porch and a bocci court. We have rented many times on VRBO and this has become one of our favorite properties.

You Will Love This Hudson River Valley Home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just spent the Christmas holidays in this lovely home. Our group was five adults and one 4 month old. What a great house! It gives a feeling of calmness, warmth and comfort. It was more than we expected and even nicer than the pictures show. A beautiful light wood floor runs throughout the house. The living/dining area is open and spacious. We made good use of the large fireplace and generous stock of firewood. The kitchen was perfect for the cooking and baking we did for our holiday meals. The double ovens, large refrigerator, dishwasher and wonderful gas stove top were a joy. The kitchen was stocked with a good assortment of pots and pans and beautiful dishes, bowls and glassware. The house was clean and everything in working order (except the clothes dryer that broke down unexpectedly). We were comfortably warm thanks to the two zoned hot water furnace. The house is located on a remote and lovely wooded rural lane a 10 minute drive from Rhinebeck. Only one other house was within site of the house. We loved walking and enjoying the woods and the beautiful rushing mountain stream across the lane from the house. I'm sure the area is even more beautiful in warmer weather seasons. Paul was responsive and nice to work with. Thank you Paul and family for sharing this special house. We loved it! I have no reservations about recommending it to others.

Peaceful Location

  • 4 of 5

Nice location down a very quiet country road. This home sits back off the small road and perhaps two or three cars go by in an entire afternoon. The house has three bedrooms with the third having a twin and small kids bed. The amenities - specifically the Bocci Court - wasn't uncovered and ready for the season when we were there in mid-June. It does not have open views of the horizon or fields but is a quiet peaceful location. About 10 minutes to Rhinebeck and a nice value for the visit.
