Punta Allen itself is a small unique pueblo that boasts a thriving fishing community which specializes in commercial harvesting of Longostas (caribbean lobsters or crayfish) from the reefs just off shore. The local fishing co-ops are the only people allowed to take this catch, however longostas can be purchased at the local co-op in town. The population is predominantly Maya and most speak only Spanish, You will find that just a little Spanish will go a long way here so it is really no problem with the language.
Casa Bianca was created by an artist/builder and you will find much attention to details to make your stay comfortable and visually pleasant. This includes a full kitchen where you will be able to create whatever you wish from the easily available local produce ,fish and meats. Casa Bianca is designed to have maximum exposure from the breeze off the caribbean but can also be closed up if it becomes too cool. You will find it very pleasant most of the year ---there are also fans in every room for those extra hot days and evenings. The tile floors and thick stucco walls, screened in porch and windows keep things cool and bug free. You will also find parking in front for two cars if you will be driving to P. A.
Enjoy the fishing, boating, birding, walking, sugar-sand beaches, snorkeling, kayaking, guided excursions, and all around tranquility of this exotic and unique natural wonderland during your stay at Casa Bianca. There you will be able to completely relax and recharge. With one of the worlds finest beaches and the only beach front Mayan ruins in the Americas, Tulum is just an 1.5 hours away down the beach road that connects it to Punta Allen. Tulum has many restaurants, bars, shopping of all kinds, and in the evening, live music and a bit more action, if you feel you need it.
Life for me has been an interesting trip through many diverse worlds---the one thread that ties it all together is art and the idea of beauty in our surroundings. Growing up in South Florida, the Tropics have always been a major influence to my life and work. I feel that if one is capable of adding beauty to the world then that should become part of their mission. In the building of Casa Bianca, drawings of Mexico and Cuba, fabricating Sculpture and Jewelry, I attempt to give that extra warmth and understanding that should be a part of everyone's life. This is what I do on each palette that is created for me.
Bianca and Dale Beatty purchased this house in 2008
In 2000 I bought property on Tulum Beach but sold this in 2008. Where would I go from there. It took awhile to realize that just 50kl. down the dirt road through the Sian Ka'an Biophere there was a small Pueblo that I had always thought would be a wonderful place to stay. Punta Allen is a unique pueblo in just as unique location.Punta Allen has an economic base of commercial fishing and tourism that relys on the environmental wonders of the Sian Ka'an Bioshere. Plus the added attraction of some of the best fly fishing in the world. For these reasons I decided to create a single Villa Style rental and small studio for myself.
At Casa Bianca you will feel privacy while being in the heart of a thriving fish village in the Sian Ka'an Biophere. Casa Bianca supplies the renter with most of what one needs to feel completely at home--a complete kitchen , good linens , and beachfront location with access to guided fishing, diving, birding, deserted beaches and more. Within a few steps there are restuarants with great Mexican/ Caribe cusine, tropical drinks and of course Cervezas Mexicano. Grocery Stores are close along with a liquer store across town near the pier on Ascension Bay (5 blocks down the sand streets.)There is a town square two blocks away where festivals and events take place regularly. All in the Mexican/Maya tradition. One can always get great fresh fruits and vegitables if you catch the trucks that come in from Tulum and Valladolid selling an array fresh foods. If one is looking to treat their spiritual side, then it shouldn't be hard to find a massage, yoga or whatever else may be happening that week. Punta Allen is a slice of life that is not too polished and is there to be enjoyed by those who are lucky enough to stay and aware enough to take it all in.
This place has changed me! The memories and the feelings I take away from here help me to remind myself that we live in such a beautiful place surrounded by beautiful people and that we need to care and RESPECT our planet, the people we love, and the fauna and flora which share it with us at all times and at all costs! So THANK YOU DALE for sharing this place with us!
Dale's place is the perfect spot to completely check out! The casa is beautifully decorated and thoughtfully appointed. The location is perfect, right on the beach in front of the wooden pier (aka "the gateway to another world"). It is perfect for two but could comfortably accommodate a family of four. The kitchen is fully equipped and convenient. The best part was to watch the sunrise each morning directly from the bed. That was so cool!
We truly enjoyed and looked forward to the moments when Dale would stop by on his way to the beach or to visit friends. He would share his life stories and experiences as well as share with us how to find secluded and amazingly beautiful beaches as well as local spots for viewing wild life and nature. Dale is a really cool and spiritual guy and we are looking forward to our return and the opportunity to get to know him more. For food, please visit Juan the Cuban and savor his amazing "Tikinxik" - a whole snapper marinated in achiote and cooked slowly on open fire. Out of this world! Also, there is a fruit and vegetable truck that comes down from Tulum once or twice a week. They have amazing Papayas to be enjoyed later on the beach or on the pier. Don't miss that!
In conclusion, I can feel my body relax just as I remember the moments we spent at Casa Lunita to write this review. Can't wait to return soon!
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Lunita during the off-season, which was quite hot but the fishing was good. The house had everything we needed, the kitchen was great and we cooked a lot as there were not many restaurants open. The place was nice and private, but very central to the village and everything we wanted to see. I spent many hours in the hammock room which is enclosed with screens to keep the bugs out. Sometimes it got very hot and humid because the town doesn't have 24-hour power and thus the ceiling fans turned off during the night. But the care-taker for the house took good care of us and brought us a battery powered fan. At other times of the year it isn't so hot so not a problem. Looking around the town, there is no place we would have rather stayed. The beach-side accomodations were amazing, just steps out onto the white sand and we ate lots of meals on the dock. We could have had another couple stay with us in the living room which had a curtain to close it off, but it would have been a bit tight. As it was for one couple it was spacious and very romantic.
While we were there the resort next door was closed because it was the off season, but I could see it being a bit loud in the bedroom if there were lots of guests staying there. As it was all we heard were tropical birds. Lots of big iguanas in the yard too who loved to eat our fruit peels.
We hope to stay at Casa Lunita again! Thanks Dale for a great job setting up a magical vacation spot.
It is a beautiful setting achieved after a life long experience with art and love, majestic decoration and ambiance not just a place to stay but a place to take back with you in your heart and mind...the most beautiful sunrise from the front porch and the serenity of full moon rise on that deep blue sky showered by a silver cascade.
a place you will never forget!
