Luxury Coffee Estate - Infinity Pool - Endless Ocean Views!

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Aloha and welcome to Kona View Estate, a 3 Acre Luxury Vacation Rental Property comfortably nestled on the slopes of Hualalai overlooking Kailua-Kona.

The entire estate has been completely remodeled and updated with top-of-the-line appliances. In October of 2011 we completed our huge solar project: We replaced our roof to allow us to install a (11.25 Kw) Photovoltaic (PV) system as well as solar hot water. We also added a 1,200 sq ft Exercise/Wellness Facility that features a top of the line Life Fitness treadmill and elliptical trainer. There is ample room for stretching. Balance balls, mats and light weights are also included. Wall to wall windows and jalousies keep the facility cool and highlight the incredible view. There is a hot tub in a private location that offers the same stunning views as the rest of the estate. In 2013 we refitted the infinity edge swimming pool with a saltwater style chlorine generator which allows a much more comfortable swimming experience.

In May of 2014 we built a roasting shack to house our state-of-the-art coffee roaster. We are a working coffee farm and we look forward to sharing this wonderful experience with you.

We are located comfortably 'up country' in the midst of the Kona Coffee belt on a working coffee estate. It is usually 5-8 degrees cooler up here with the gentle breeze that comes off the mountain day or night providing an ideal temperature.

The Vista Suite is located on the South side of the villa and has its own separate entrance. All rooms overlook the Pacific Ocean through the lanai, deck and infinity pool. The master bedroom has a King size bed – when you awake you can see 30 miles of the Kona coastline and ocean from your bed. It has an attached private master bath with a large soaking tub as well as a walk-in shower. The second bedroom features two twin-sized beds that can be made into a King-sized bed upon your request. It has its own bath down the hall. The enormous gourmet Kitchen/Living Room/Dining Room has every amenity a chef could want. It also has a couch with a sleeper bed.

Because we live here we can offer services that usually are not available with a vacation rental. Do you need your refrigerator stocked with essentials prior to your arrival? We will gladly offer this concierge service for free. If any problems arise we are here 24/7 to help, make recommendations, give directions etc, but we tend to keep a low profile.

We are looking forward to sharing the powerful energy of this mountain retreat balanced by the outstanding views of the Pacific Ocean. You can often see the curvature of the earth as you awake and gaze over this lovely estate. This is a place of rejuvenation, relaxation, power and growth and we look forward to sharing it with you.

If you need more room please see our other VRBO listing #338995 which is on the same property. There is a link further down the page under 'Links to more Information'.

About The Owner

One owner is in search of the prefect cappuccino. The other is a holistic body-work practitioner and an exercise trainer. We can provide our clients with these services.

The Owner purchased this estate in 2009

Why The Owner chose Kailua-Kona

We fell in love with the house and property the moment we saw it 7 years ago. Yes, the view of Kona and the coastline is the best that we saw in our two years of house hunting. But what struck us was the sense of serenity and calm this property and location afforded us. We immediately felt that we were 'home'. Part of the appeal to us also was the location right in the midst of the Kona Coffee Belt and the fact that the property had been a working coffee estate.

What makes this estate unique

All of the pieces by themselves are incredible: the incredible view from every window, the infinity edge solar heated salt water pool, the hot tub, the holistic fitness center, a completely green solar electric powered house, the two acres in award winning coffee, the sights and sounds of the country, the fresh air. Put them all together and you have a true luxury estate to relax in - when you are not too busy exploring all that the Big Island has to offer!

Our location right in the midst of the Kona Coffee Belt and the fact that the property is a working coffee farm sets us apart from many other vacation rentals. We have just added a roasting shack and now can roast coffee in-house in a custom made artisanal drum coffee roaster. We can offer to our guests our own private label 100% Kona Estate Certified Coffee grown and roasted right here on the property. We supply the finest coffee making equipment in the unit to compliment our award winning coffee.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank-you so much for making our stay so memorable. We loved everything about our accommodations ... it truly is a paradise. You are both gracious hosts and we appreciated all the fresh fruit, muffins and coffee you brought to us. We will certainly highly recommend your vacation rental to all of our friends and family.

Would it possible for you to forward on the name of that great imported coffee maker that you used to brew our coffee? We made espresso with your 100% Kona coffee on the week-end and it is the best espresso we've had. We can't wait to come back!

Peace and Quiet in Holoalua

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 9 nights at Kona View Estates and had a truly enjoyable experience. The setting is peaceful with a spectacular view of the coastline. We enjoyed being in the quiet of Holoalua away from the resort area where we previously stayed. The location is quite central making our day trips much shorter than last year. Our hosts (Randy and Atsumi) were very responsive to our every need but also very respectful of our privacy. We felt very spoiled. Given our late arrival, Randy offered to pick up a few groceries for us which smoothed out that first morning transition. Waking up to fresh squeezed orange juice and custom roasted coffee was a highlight of our trip. The unit is very large and easily accommodated our group of 5. It is clean and well laid out. The kitchen had all necessary appliances and well stocked cupboards. We learned a lot about how coffee is grown and roasted and visited a local coffee bar that sells Randy and Atsumi's excellent beans. Our boys enjoyed playing in the lovely pool and we enjoyed the hot tub at the end of our busy days. We even got some work outs in the studio. In all, our stay was idyllic and we would definitely stay here again.

Perfect: Clean and Spacious + POOL!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I were in town for my cousin's wedding in Kona. At first, we debated about staying up in Holualoa, but we definitely made the best decision by doing so. It's only a ~15min drive down to Kona and the peace and quiet along with the pool and hot tub were the perfect getaway from some of the craziness in Kona. Also, the hosts are amazingly accommodating. My nephews came up and we had a blast in the pool. I give this property, and the hosts, my highest recommendation.

A Labor of Love from the Slopes of a Volcano

  • 5 of 5

When we booked the VRBO on the Big Island of Hawaii back in the summer, I didn’t realize I was signing up for an eco-tourism experience.

Kona View Estate offers a 2 bedroom, 2 bath Vista Suite with a well-appointed kitchen, comfortable sitting area and tremendous views of Kailua Kona down 1,500 feet below. They also have a 1 bedroom cottage adjacent to the suite for rent as well. The owners live in the semi-connected home next door. Rather than finding their presence to be intrusive, it had its benefits!

We were surrounded by a two-acre Kona coffee farm, the random rooster crowing in the distance, colorful small birds and butterflies speckled our views of the Pacific coastline down below, and mountain breezes gently swept the deck cooling us from the warm island sun. Every night, the sunsets were broad and expansive, filling the sky with a fiery spectrum as the sun sank beneath the Pacific’s edge. Nighttime brought the sweet chirping of the coqui tree frogs, and the twinkling gemlike lights of Kailua Kona below.

Their concierge service provided us with a stocked refrigerator and pantry per our emailed grocery list upon arrival. Randy greeted us when we arrived, showed us the place and concluded by saying he would have a freshly-brewed carafe of their own Kona View Coffee, ready and waiting for us outside our door promptly at 7:15 am.

Randy met us one morning and gave us a tour of his two-acre farm. We also saw a roasting of the beans. The honey-colored beans went into the bright red, large Dutch roaster. After several minutes, you could hear the “first crack” of the beans, which sounded faintly like popping popcorn. Atsumi opened the door and dark brown beans poured out. She extended her palm to us containing two freshly-roasted beans for us to taste. The warm bean tasted like coffee, of course, but also like chocolate, and chiles and oranges.

Brad and I have stayed at about a dozen VRBOs over the years, but I think this was my favorite. It’s not only the gourmet kitchen and the spaciousness, the views of the coast from the infinity pool, the hot tub at sunrise every morning and at night under the stars, the sound of the little tree frogs carried by the mountain breezes. But I think a place that can inspire, and make you dream a bit, and wonder about life and reflect on love and family, all the while encompassing you in a Kona coffee embrace. Well... I think that beats an ocean front hotel room any day.

Incredible sanctuary...

  • 5 of 5

The Vista Suite was the best medicine possible. The house is lovely. The views are spectacular. The pool left me speechless on a daily basis. Randy and Atsumi were terrific hosts. I am not sure words can capture the experience of staying up on the hill overlooking the Kona Coast. Further... I am not sure words could explain the feeling of relaxing in the pool and being able to watch the coast below and the sun sets off in the distance. This was truly a breathtaking experience and I would recommend the Vista Suite to anyone looking for a getaway.

There is no a/c in the house. With that said - there are sufficient fans and windows everywhere you look. I believe I was there during the hottest part of summer and don't have a single complaint.

To top it off - a tour of the coffee estate was fascinating!!

The location is fantastic for those looking to get away from all the hustle and bustle... yet it's close enough to town to be able to get whatever you need in a matter of a small drive down the hill.

What else can I say? This was exactly what the doctor ordered.

To Randy and Atsumi - thank you again for being wonderful hosts. Thank you for your hospitality, your kindness, your recommendations, and for the lovely Vista Suite.

I feel like a new person.

our stay was fabulous

  • 5 of 5

we stayed there for 1 week in August of 2017. The place was very clean, quiet and comfortable. It also had every thing you need for your Hawaii vacation (Umbrellas, beach chairs, toys, towels and snorkeling gear). Also you can grill out side and have your meals to enjoy the weather and the scenery (sunset or sun rise). The temperature in at this elevation is lower than down there by the beach which makes it very comfortable all the time. Randy stocked the fridge prior to our arrival which was very helpful. The place gives you the feel that you live in the middle of a forest. The beaches and the super markets are close by (usually 15 min drive). definitely highly recommended and would certainly come back again.

Peaceful and beautiful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The view here is amazing. Swimming in their infinity pool is a calm, relaxing experience. The house was clean and the property well cared for. Randy and Atsumi were incredibly nice, and we barely noticed that they were there. They stayed very low profile. The house is cooler than down in Kona, which was great for when we got back from our daily excursions. There were people staying in the cottage, but I never actually saw them. Again, very non-intrusive. I can't think of a single thing we would have changed about the property or the owners. Would definitely stay here again.
