Albion Bed and Breakfast is a lovingly restored 1907 building, that has been part of the campus of the Albion Normal School. Our building was the training school for student-teachers from 1891 until it closed in 1951 and has plenty of carefully restored historic charm.
It can be rented as a whole (group rental w. communal kitchen) or partially (rooms and/or suites).
It has 3 suites, 4 bedrooms (one is a large bunk/game room), 7 bathrooms, three full kitchens and one kitchenette. It sleeps 29 in regular beds, to be extended to 44 with comfortable folding beds/hide-a bed/futon beds and additional floor mattresses. Also there are 3 baby beds available.
There are in addition two large community rooms (23'x33' converted classrooms). One is used for communal Dining off the largest kitchen (16'x22'). Another as Multipurpose Hall with a 13ft high ceiling and a set of chandeliers w. large screen TV, ping pong, or set up for dancing/lectures (folding chairs available) etc. In the equally large Bunk/game room you can find Pool, Foosball and Air hockey games.
We have lawns and garden on three sides with a Majestic 80ft Dutch Poplar (Populus Albus) with tire swing centered on the south lawn with lots of shade. Outdoor chairs, gas grills, barbecue and fire pit are available.
There is a functioning natural bakery ('Albion School House Bakery') on site making fresh organic breads, rolls and tasty goodies like blueberry walnut muffins and oatmeal cookies.
In our Library Room you can relax with one of our numerous books or use our Wifi for your convenience. Every bedroom has a a TV for watching movies from our extensive movie library.
We are 20 minutes away from Mount Harrison with Pomerelle Ski Resort, a reliable beautiful winter sports area with lovely hiking in summer. Also Lake Cleveland is very close and great for fishing, picnicking and hiking through beautiful flowered meadows.
The City of Rocks and Castle Rock (35 minutes away) are famous with climbers all over the world and you can also have family fun hiking/climbing in the area, even book their Climbers Experience program or try a swim in the close by Hot Springs in Almo.

We are a Dutch-American family with a background in Education and Counseling. Chad is originally from Mesa, Arizona and Susan from Amsterdam, Holland. We are fluent thus in English and Dutch and can understand a smattering of German, French and Spanish.
Chad Manderscheid purchased this chateau / country house in 2007
After living in the most densely populated country in Europe, The Netherlands, for twelve years and within hearing of one of the busiest airports in the world, I was looking for peace and quiet and some elbow room. Albion, Idaho(pop.264) fulfills all those wishes completely. Being near Pomerelle ski resort and several wonderful state and national parks with lakes and hiking trails was a bonus. We enjoy spontaneous encounters with local fauna such as owls and deer and sand hill cranes. I especially like seeing the milky way and shooting stars at night. We hear a small airplane about every six months and have very little traffic. Old highway 77 winds through town and people generally observe the 25 mph speed limit. We are less than three hours from Salt Lake City international airport and Boise's too. There is an inexpensive shuttle that runs from both and has a stop 15 minutes away.
My wife and I stayed in the Principal's Suite in the old Albion Normal School Building. Spending time in the Principal's Office was never like this - Large Living room Bedroom with Kingsized bed, modern kitchenand large tiled bathroom. Very comfortable and the hosts were delightful. Pleasant setting near the former Albion Campus. Lake cleveland and Pomerelle ski area is close by and the City of Rocks is only about 30 mmiles away. The area matches the beauty of Sun Valley nad Aspen, but without the over develoment.
Albion is a lovely place to retreat from the busyness of the world! It is peaceful and beautiful there and the setting for this bed and breakfast is amazingly beautiful and quiet. everything is setup so nicely for families or couples or groups or even reunions and retreats! There is a big ballroom where one can have weddings or business meetings with plenty of chairs to set up and rolling white board to write on. there is a big dining room for a nice sized group. The prices are outstanding for the wonderful service offered. And the host Chad and Susan are exceptional and their caring for their guests! I would highly recommend this for anyone!
Our family was scheduled to arrive July 11, 2013 but due to an unexpected medical situation we had to cancel our reservations. We toured the property with the owner before we had to cancel and we were impressed with the property's ability to house our large family with enough bedrooms, kitchens etc. We've always had to squeeze into the rented properties we've used before but not into this one. We also loved the relaxing atmosphere of the house and its beautiful setting. Finally, we have discovered a rental property that will accommodate us. Hurray! If for no other reason, we would rent this property again because the owner is an honest man, full of humanity, and a delight to deal with. He is returning our sizable deposit with no reservations. Please don't be concerned that the owner is on site, he is a pure delight and very helpful to have around.
By the way, the bathrooms are spotless and in great condition. We will recommend this property to our friends. Our family already loves it.
We came to ski and explore City of Rocks with our dogs. We (and the three canines) had a lovely time at the Albion B&B. It was fun to talk about Holland with Chad, make popcorn and watch movies/read from the extensive library, wander the area with the dogs and, of course, ski! Thanks for your hospitality.
I would like to write and let Chad know what a great place he has in Albion. My family stayed there for 3 days and we had a great time, rooms were clean and fresh, accomadations were wonderful. The smell of fresh bread in the early morning is like none other. .Everyone enjoyed it so much we can hardley wait to come back for another family gathering. Thanks Chad!!!
Historic site: Albion teachers college was located here. a lot of historic details are carefully preserved and add to the charm of the building, along with the owner, who comes from a long line of teachers.
We are close to Pomerelle Ski resort, just 20 minutes away, with good service and very reliable snow: see link.
