About Summerwind Development

We own vacation rental property in Idaho and Utah. We enjoy helping clients plan their trips and explore the Island Park area.

Summerwind Development purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Summerwind Development chose Island Park

Island Park is the best of the Yellowstone area without all the tourists. All of my cabins have large lots surrounded by trees for a private and peaceful vacation. There is great hiking and fishing in the summer and incredible snowmobiling and cross country skiing in the winter. There is also a golf course if you want to hit a few balls in the summer. Harriman State Park is close by with the best hiking and cross country ski trails in Eastern Idaho.

What makes this cabin unique

We like to paddle in the canoe in the Island Park resevoir. We also take our speed boat out and go fishing and waterskiing. This cabin is full log construction and really has the cozy cabin in the mountains feel to it. After playing on the water it's nice to throw a steak on the grill (or a fish if we were lucky that day), and then relax in the hot tub. In the winter, sometimes it's just nice to watch the snow fall while you read a book by the gas fireplace, or go sledding or cross country skiing.

Enjoyed my stay at this Island Park Cabin with Hot Tub

VRBO Bear stayed here

Ahh, rest and relaxation! I had the opportunity to stay in the Summerwind Cabin, located in Island Park, ID. Island Park is a great destination near Yellowstone National Park for everything from hiking and fishing, to snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Summerwind Cabin had everything a bear needs for a great vacation. It is a quiet location among a forest of pine trees, within walking distance to the Island Park Reservoir. The cabin is very spacious and includes a full kitchen, comfortable living room, laundry room, 2 bathrooms, and enough beds for the whole family. The deck is a huge plus with dining table and hot tub for hours of outdoor enjoyment. The cabin even comes with a canoe to take out on the water. For those who want to stay indoors, the TV offers dozens of channels. If you’re feeling adventurous, head out on the nearby ATV trails, go for a hike to Mesa Falls, or spend a day boating and fishing at Henry’s Lake State Park just a few miles away. My favorite part of the trip was the close proximity to West Yellowstone and the national park, so I could easily go visit my wildlife kin. Island Park is the perfect home base for exploring the park because you can return to peace and quiet after a day at the popular tourist spots like Old Faithful. Thank you Summerwind Cabin for an enjoyable and relaxing stay! The VRBO Bear

Spacious and well equipped cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family for 4 stayed at this cabin for 3 days. It was a huge cabin will all the amenities required for a very comfortable stay. The bathrooms were very clean. Kitchen was well equipped. Hot tub was enjoyable. We drove back and forth to Yellowstone for 2 days. It is a 40 minute comfortable drive. If you are looking for a secluded "cabin in the woods", this is the right place for you. Would definitely recommend!

Large Cabin Roomy comfortable and not a populated crowded area

  • 4 of 5

We traveled here from Spokane Washington in late August 2018. It was the perfect distance outside the park to not have the large crowds at rest time. We had seclusion when we came home to rest after a long day in yellowstone park. The west entance to yellowstone is easy access to all the geological sites within a half hour drive. We saw Bison,Elk, Cayotes up close and personal near the West entrance to Yellowstone. We traveled one day all the way to Jackson Hole for a day trip. Great location for all the yellowstone sites without battleing the crowds for your restful evenings. My son age 10 caught 8 bass in the reservoir off the dock near by.

Great cabin in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic well equipped cabin in the woods , close to the lake. Great location for visiting Yellowstone but far enough away to avoid the crowds, surrounded by stunning countryside. We loved relaxing in the hot tub at the end of a long day sightseeing . There are a couple of good restaurants within a 10 minute drive too but we mostly used the gas bbq.

Highly recommended.

Nice house but far away from everything

  • 3 of 5

We were planning on the trip for Yellowstone but it’s well over an hour in a car. The house itself was nice- has a large kitchen and living area. The bedrooms Could use an upgrade. Mattresses are hard and linens not very soft. Also lacks WiFi despite it advertising it since they are in the woods. Nice area to explore if you don’t plan on going to Yellowstone.

Owner's Response: It sounds like she liked the cabin. Great! I will respond to her concerns: -It can take longer than 40 minutes during peak summer traffic to Yellowstone. I am sorry this happened to this renter. But, we have driven to the park in 40 minutes many times. -I am sorry she felt the beds were hard. Most of our customers think the beds are fine, but we understand everyone has a different opinion. I will talk to my manager about replacing some of the beds and linens if needed. -I am sorry she had an issue with the wifi. This renter did not say anything to my manager or myself during her stay or after her stay. We have had five renters since her and none of them have had a problem with the wifi? I wish she would have let us know so we could have fixed it for her.
