About Dawnya Brown

I own vacation rental property in Idaho and Utah. I manage all my rentals myself and have done so for fifteen years. I enjoy helping clients plan their trips and explore the Island Park area.

Dawnya Brown purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Dawnya Brown chose Idaho

Island Park is the best of the Yellowstone area without all the tourists. All of my cabins have large lots surrounded by trees for a private and peaceful vacation. There is great hiking and fishing in the summer and incredible snowmobiling and cross country skiing in the winter. There is also a golf course if you want to hit a few balls in the summer. Harriman State Park is close by with the best hiking and cross country ski trails in Eastern Idaho.

What makes this cabin unique

We like to paddle in the canoe in the Island Park resevoir. We also take our speed boat out and go fishing and waterskiing. This cabin is full log construction and really has the cozy cabin in the mountains feel to it. After playing on the water it's nice to throw a steak on the grill (or a fish if we were lucky that day), and then relax in the hot tub. In the winter, sometimes it's just nice to watch the snow fall while you read a book by the gas fireplace, or go sledding or cross country skiing.

Enjoyed my stay at this Island Park Cabin with Hot Tub

VRBO Bear stayed here

Ahh, rest and relaxation! I had the opportunity to stay in the Summerwind Cabin, located in Island Park, ID. Island Park is a great destination near Yellowstone National Park for everything from hiking and fishing, to snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Summerwind Cabin had everything a bear needs for a great vacation. It is a quiet location among a forest of pine trees, within walking distance to the Island Park Reservoir. The cabin is very spacious and includes a full kitchen, comfortable living room, laundry room, 2 bathrooms, and enough beds for the whole family. The deck is a huge plus with dining table and hot tub for hours of outdoor enjoyment. The cabin even comes with a canoe to take out on the water. For those who want to stay indoors, the TV offers dozens of channels. If you’re feeling adventurous, head out on the nearby ATV trails, go for a hike to Mesa Falls, or spend a day boating and fishing at Henry’s Lake State Park just a few miles away. My favorite part of the trip was the close proximity to West Yellowstone and the national park, so I could easily go visit my wildlife kin. Island Park is the perfect home base for exploring the park because you can return to peace and quiet after a day at the popular tourist spots like Old Faithful. Thank you Summerwind Cabin for an enjoyable and relaxing stay! The VRBO Bear

Good location in the trees and a nice hot tub on the porch. Fairly close to fishing and the lake.

One big complaint with an old, noisy sqeeky bed upstairs. The cabin description says there are two life vests for the canoe, but there is only one. We loved the moose browsing through the woods.

Owner's Response: I am happy to read they liked the location, wildlife viewing and hot tub. My manager found the life vest in the hall closet instead of with the oars where the life jackets belong. Sorry about that as sometimes the prior renters do not put things back where they belong.

Great location in a beautiful setting

  • 3 of 5

Over all our stay was really nice there are a few items that we found needed to be updated or fixed. The hot tub could hardly be used because whoever puts chemical in it doesn't know what "foam out" is. There wasn't a can opener in the kitchen and no paper towels. I guess we should have brought our own. The towels really need to be replaced they are really worn out. The lighting needs some help. Don't get me wrong this is a great place and could be even better. It was really nice having satellite TV and the beds were more than comfortable. I would rent this one again following some upgrades. Thanks

Owner's Response: I wish he would have let us know about the hot tub, this could have fixed quickly if he had called. But, he stayed three nights and said nothing about foam in the hot tub. My property manager has replaced the bath towels and also the can opener. I am glad to hear he enjoyed the cabin.

Perfect for our group

  • 5 of 5

We had a group with 3 couples and there was plenty of space for us. Apple Maps led us to the cabin perfectly. The beds were comfortable. The showers were hot. The whole cabin was very clean. We definitely enjoyed the hot tub after a long day of walking around Yellowstone. I hope to return and stay again someday.

Excellent cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was clean and comfortable. Wifi worked ok. There were lots of tv channels, kept the little kids happy. The location was great, not to far off the highway, easy to find, but still a nice quiet area. The easy access to lots of snowmachine trails was exactly what we wanted. We used the gas grill on the deck every night, grilling steaks while the snow is falling after a fun day of riding, then sitting in the hot tub. Perfect vacation for our family.
