If fishing is your thing, Crescent Lake is for you! This 53 acre lake is stocked by the county with trout and bass. The best fishing is right in front of this cabin! You can fish off the dock, or you can put your own boat in at the public boat launch across the lake.

Do you like nature hikes in the forest? A walk down the driveway is a nature hike itself! Douglas firs, magnificent cedars, huge big leaf maples are just a few of the many trees you will see. It’s a great place to bird watch-eagles, osprey, ducks, finches, hawks and more! See deer, squirrels and raccoons.

Do you like walking and exploring new places in nature? This cabin is within walking distance of county owned Crescent Lake Park. It's only 5 minutes to Sunrise Beach Park, with it's magnificent views of the sound! You can take the row boat and row down to Crescent Lake Park for a nice little picnic.

How about shopping? You won't have to go far! The Crescent Lake cabin is very convenient to shopping. Just 10 minutes from the Gig Harbor Downtown and Waterfront and 15 minutes from UpTown Gig Harbor. It takes only 30 minutes to get to downtown Tacoma or Port Orchard.

The cabin is located at the base of a wooded hillside at the north end of Crescent Lake. Enter through a gated driveway and descend down to the lake's edge to see the cabin. There is one house next door, a vacation cabin also which is rarely used, but other than that, you are all by yourselves, away from any other properties. No neighbors to the north, east or west! Very private and a great place to think.

Do you like to cook? This is the place for creating great meals! The kitchen features a large eating bar and has been updated, with slate flooring, granite counters, travertine back splash and stainless steel appliances. The cupboards are stocked with cooking equipment and utensils.

The cabin's many windows bring the beauty and bathe the cabin with sunlight will allowing for incredible views of the lake. French doors open from the living room onto a huge cedar deck that wraps around the home, extending the living area. The bedroom has also been updated and remodeled and features a closet with French Doors and sconces on each side of the bed.

Fully furnished with furniture, kitchen cookware, dishes and utensils, bed linens & blankets, as well as bathroom towels and washcloths, you should have everything you need. There are also life jackets if you want to go out in the row boat. Just bring your food and clothing and you are all set!

Sleeps two comfortably, but four are possible with a Sofa bed in the living room. Rates are based on two people. $10 per day per additional guest. Feel free to send questions. Thanks!

About Julie M. Collison

I purchased this home as a personal escape. It is very private and rural, yet just minutes from shopping and amenities. I would like to share it with you as it is so beautiful. It has recently been updated and is very comfortable. Lots of windows that look out to the lake. The cabin is so close to the lake that sometimes it feels like the house is floating. Feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have.

Julie M. Collison purchased this house in 2007

Why Julie M. Collison chose Gig Harbor

It's in the country, yet close to the city. It is very close to Tacoma and only takes about 30 minutes to get there. It is just 10 minutes from shopping at Downtown Gig Harbor, and is very private and pretty. It is close to amenities, but feels very far away. It reminds me of the San Juan Islands when I am there.

What makes this house unique

It is a good place to go to fish, to think, to hike, to swim or just to get away from it all. It is at the end of a private, tree lined drive and very quiet. There is a fully stocked kitchen and meals are easy with a full sized frige, a downdraft Jenn Air range, and Microwave. Enjoy cooking meals there with the lovely view of the lake. Birds and Wildlife, including Bald Eagles, hawks, finches, wood ducks, mallard ducks, loons, geese, chipmunks, squirrels, and raccoons can be seen around the lake. The lake is only a few steps from the home. From the expansive cedar deck it feels like you are almost in the water yourself. There is a state park with a boat launch just across the lake and there is a nice dock right out in front of the home. The home is on the good fishing side of the lake. The lake is stocked every year with fish from the Pierce County Parks Dept. The large mouth bass and rainbow trout are good eating!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for such a lovely cabin. We really enjoyed ourselves. We watched some sort of animal-an otter or? something-swim in by the dock & marsh-just enjoyed the serene location. Seemed like time stood still for us. We found a great church in Gig Harbor-First Love Church and since I work with gals who have lots of problems his sermons are "amazing" like last Sunday on how to "heal" from rejection. Was a great blessing personally to me-I can make classes from his words. Anyway, we met many people there and we went to a Madrigal show with 6 people from church! Then had coffee with one guy and lunch with a gal who goes twice a year to India-We have had adventures! Great Restaurants: Lele's (behind Borders) awesome egg rolls & sweet & sour beef; Kelly's-lunch-Turkey Gobbler Sandwich; Anthonys-Chop Chop Salad. Kati from Boise.

Away from it all and yet close enough to what you need!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary in August and we wanted a place that offered some space, some outdoor activities but was not too far away from grocery stores, restaurants etc. Julies cabin hit the spot and was just what we hoped for. Although you can't see it in the photos, there is a home next door to Julies but this is a second home for the owners and they were never there so we had complete privacy. The cabin is not in the town of Gig Harbor but a short drive away. We were able to stock up on all our food supplies and just hang out, grill, take out the rowboat or whatever. It is also not far from highway 16 which will take you just about anywhere north and west (we went up to Olympia National Park and also took a whale watching tour out of Port Townsend). The kitchen was roomy and had almost everything we needed. The bed was comfy and we slept very well in the quiet setting. The only thing we missed for our stay was a washing machine since we were on an extended trip but we worked it out. Some reviewers mentioned the drive being intimidating but Julie met us at the gate and we followed her in and down the drive to the cabin and had no troubles coming in or out (no rain recently for our stay). Julie was a very gracious host and refunded our deposit almost immediately after check out. We would totally recommend her place!

Besides the great view the cabin is so well furnished with every thing you could possibly need from pots and pans to spices. So comfortable with lots of windows and extra clean also. Would book here again.

Owner's Response: Dear Wendy, Thank you so much for your kind review. I am glad that you found my cabin to be comfortable and that it had what you needed. Makes me happy to hear it. It was nice meeting you two and hope to see you again. I am probably going to take this off of the HomeAway and VRBO sites, because I'm selling my current home and may need to stay there for a bit. Please keep my email or phone number, though, because I would be happy to rent to you again in the future. Take care! Julie Collison

Such a nice little house in a beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I and our two daughters stayed at the cabin for a week while visiting the Gig Harbor, Tacoma and Seattle area. It was a very quiet and relaxing home base for all the exploring we did while in the area. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, and the house had many accommodations that made our stay very easy. The only downside was that the dock had washed up on land before we got there; hopefully Julie can get it back out again soon to fish and paddle off of.

Quiet get away

  • 5 of 5

Cute rural lake cabin about eight miles from historic harbor in Gig Harbor. Row boat available but we used our kayak to enjoy the lake. No cable but Netflix and a library of movies if you need entertaining. Owner hospitality a plus. Kick back and enjoy the lovely setting.

Nice, peaceful cabin

  • 5 of 5

I rented this cabin for my parents and sister for my wedding weekend because our wedding was just down the street. Check-in was smooth and Julie was super nice, even though I was running late because of traffic. The driveway is a little scary--it's a gravel driveway that's quite steep in places, with a couple of sharp turns, so be prepared for that. The cabin is very cute and quite spacious, I thought even a bit more so than it looks in the pictures. It's clean and tastefully decorated. Julie has thought of nice little touches like binoculars and a bird guide! There's now wi-fi and a phone there too, which is nice. You do have to conserve water as much as possible, I think due to the septic system or something. The deck is huge and inviting. You're right on the water, and there's a rowboat, some life jackets, etc. Right in front of the house is not great for swimming because it's shallow and a bit reedy, but if you wanted to swim you could just go farther out. The water seems clean and it's a nice lake. Anyway, my family really liked it, and found it very peaceful. They were glad to be close to our wedding house, but have their own retreat. Definitely recommend.

Owner's Response: I appreciate the kind remarks and comments for sure. The driveway is steep and can be a pain, but most folks have been able to handle it just fine. The limited use of water request is due to the cabin having a small "vacation" type septic system and since we are close to the water, I feel that it is important to conserve so the system doesn't become overtaxed. I really enjoy it when I have visitors that are coming for a wedding, or an anniversary, or a honeymoon. It is nice to be considered when folks are looking for a place. Maybe I'll update my photos so the place looks more spacious online! It is quite large inside. Since I installed Wi-Fi, there has been way more activity and bookings. Who knew how important that has become? Thanks for taking the time to review my Crescent Lake Cabin!

We are so close to the town of Gig Harbor, that you must visit it when you come. Gig Harbor hosts some of the most expensive homes in Pierce County. The downtown area is located on the largest estuary in the Northwest. Lots of cool shops and parks and things to do in town.

If you are into hiking, there is a large forest down the road where you can walk for hours. Some also ride their bikes through the trails. My favorite thing to do is lie around in a flotation device let my boyfriend pull me in the rowboat! There is a great restaurant in Purdy called the Flotation Device (The float , for short). They have great breakfasts and also usually have live music on the weekends for dancing.
