Clean, spacious rental in GREAT location

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay. The property is in a great location and easily accommodated our group (two families for a total of 11 people!). Brian was super helpful and responsive to all of our questions and needs.

Pros - CLEAN and spacious location on edge of Bucktown/Wicker Park; walk to Jeni's Ice Cream/Stan's Doughnuts; walk or bike 606 elevated path; Chicago Divvy bikes steps away; L stop super close (which means trains rumble by and can be loud, but didn't mind in house). Cons - could use some more cutlery!

Highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your feedback. I will be sure to upgrade the cutlery. Great group of people that I would welcome back anytime.

Great Family Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (7 Adults and 2 Children) rented this home for our annual family vacation. It had everything we needed. It was one block from the El train as well as walking distance to a ton of restaurants and bars. If there was something we needed, the owner was very responsive in fulfilling our needs. I would definitely consider staying here again if we ever go back.

The only draw back is that the home is very close to the El and every time it goes by, you hear it loud and clear. By the third day, we all learned to just tune it out. The owner provides fans that help drown out the noise at night.

Great place for a group !!!

  • 5 of 5

We had 7 guys in for a long weekend to watch the Frozen Four. There is enough good sleeping places for about 10 people. Everything you need is there. The subway is very close and loud but didn't really bother us. Within walking distance of plenty of good restaurants and bars. Used Uber to get around city and never waited more than 3 minutes to be picked up. Only bad thing is that the only TV in the place is an SD model from about 1998. Internet great, showers good, beds good, HUGE living space, very convenient location.

Owner's Response: Great respectful group of guys that stayed at my home. I will take their comment about the TV as a nudge to get that TV upgraded and add an additional TV in a bedroom or 2. Anytime you would like to visit again you are welcome to stay and hope to improve on any details that could use it. Thanks for the review.

I rented this house for a weekend with 7 guys for a cubs game. The house was awesome. We had plenty of space and the house is very well furnished. Lots of sleeping room. There is a lot to do in the area and wriglyville is a short cab ride away. Would stay there again anytime i had the need.

Nice for a family stay.

  • 4 of 5

Our group of eleven rented this house for a wedding weekend. It was conveniently located and served most of our needs. The owner kindly allowed us to check in early and the cleaning crew was finishing up when we arrived. The house was nicely clean. There are two tight off street parking places that come with the unit. Parking is a real premium in Chicago so the rear parking was a nice bonus. We enjoyed the open floor plan which allowed all of the generations (25-90 years old) to interact. There is a nice deck on the rear where we enjoyed some outdoor time, a big screen TV and 2 1/2 baths. We staggered the showers so we didn't run out of hot water-- but we were aware of this when we booked the house and in the end it worked out fine.

Costco and several grocery stores are conveniently located. We bought some easy to throw together food and invited several of the other out of town wedding guest over for brunch the day before the wedding. The look on the faces of the Days Inn guests was priceless. They all asked how we found the house and remarked what a clever idea to all be together. Apparently, their $200 a night boxes were no comparison to our find.

With that said, there are somethings you should be aware of before you book. First, the El runs right over head. It is noisy and interupts your conversation. By the end of our stay, we were all laughing about it. The noise didn't interupt anyone's sleep. Probably most rental Chicago house ares close to an El.

The kitchen equipment is pretty sparse. Could have use some mixing bowls, more knives, trivets for the table, pot holders, an iron etc. We improvised and it worked out fine.

We were disappointed that there was no wifi-- seems pretty basic these days. There is satellite TV. Neighborhood seems safe.

We viewed the house with the owner a few weeks before we rented it. We did point out the the basement steps did not have a balluster/newel post system or a graspable hand rail of any kind. This is a Universal Building Code issue and a dangerous situation. The owner said he would arrange to have at least a grab hand rail put up which he did not do. No one got hurt, but I strongly urge this situation be rectified before someone breaks their neck.

All and all, we had a great time and we can recommend this rental.
