Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 - 6 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

Located in one of the most picturesque areas of Southwest Colorado, Our Cabin at Lake Puragory has easy highway access and is located only one mile from Durango Mountain Resort. This growing all season resort offers year round activities: winter downhill and cross country skiing, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snowshoing, dog sled rides, hiking, boating, swimming, fishing, hunting, four wheeling, horseback riding, golf, tennis, narrow gauge train ride, alpine slide, rock climbing, mountain biking, mini golf, summer concerts, river rafting and sight seeing. One of our favorite things to do is just hanging out at our cabin.

Our log cabin (built in 1996) provides a terrific mountain getaway with wonderful views from every room... Aspen Groves, Hermosa Red Rock Cliffs, Beaver Ponds, Engineer Mountain and Little Cascade Creek. Hear Little Cascade Creek from the master bedroom (new queen-size bed as well as private bath) and wake up looking out at beautiful Aspen trees. The furnishings and decor are all new Southwest Mountain Style. (This is not an 'old' cabin outfitted with second hand furniture and old appliances!) Our up to date kitchen is open to the living and dining areas and has beautiful knotty pine cabinets and complete appliances, utensils and necessary staples for your use.

The second bedroom has hand made Aspen bunk beds (single on top, double on bottom) and is located next to the second bathroom. There is also a queen sofa sleeper in the living room.

There is also an oversized one car garage for your convenience. (Includes a ping pong table).

Privacy, comfort and convenience all come together to make our log cabin at Lake Purgatory, Durango a wonderful retreat any time of the year!

Stunning View and Great Secluded Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our trip to Molly and Phil"s cabin was great. We loved the location, which was very close to the ski resort, and not a bad drive into Durango. The cabin was very well appointed and extremely clean. It has comfortable furniture and has been very nicely decorated. A mile deer joined us at dinner time one evening. The scenery out of the picture window is stunning. It looks like a post card. Durango is a great place to vacation. You can hike, raft, ski, rock climb, shop, have wonderful dinners out or just enjoy nature. We will return.

Beautiful, Relaxing yet close to activities

We had a wonderful time. The cabin was very well stocked and had everything we needed. We even had a mule deer have its dinner in the backyard.

Cute cabin with gorgeous views

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five spent five nights in this comfortable cabin outside of Durango. We loved the views of the pond and sighted the local beaver several evenings. We really enjoyed spending time in Durango--such a cute town! We had a couple of great meals at the Brew Pub and the fun Bar D Chuckwagon. We took a day trip to Mesa Verde (about an hour's drive) and loved the ranger-led tour of Cliff Palace. We took several short, beautiful hikes near the property. We loved just hanging out at the cabin in the evenings, playing games and watching movies. We were awe-struck by the stars at night--our kids saw a prolonged meteor shower for the first time, which was so fun and exciting. Silverton and Ouray were stops on our way to Rocky Mountain National Park, where we spent the remainder of our Colorado adventure. This cabin was well-equipped and located near lots of great sights and activities. We highly recommend this rental for anyone visiting the Durango area!

Delightful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We have rented vacation homes many times in the Durango and this was our most pleasant rental. Out of the way but not to much. Close to town but not too close. The perfect jumping off point , North to Silverton and Ouray, South to Durango city, West to the colors of the desert and east to more fantastic train rides, hot air ballooning, etc. Comfortable, modern, clean and very interestingly decorated. Especially liked the howling wooden coyote with the kerchief. Will absolutely look for availability on our next Durango trip in a few months. VERY responsive and accomodating owners.

Private & cozy

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was easy to get to and not too far out of the way to still be able to do things in town. The cabin was clean, well supplied and very comfortable for our family. Would definitely revisit .

Charming and well maintained

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for four nights with our family (2 adults and 2 kids [ages 10 and 12]) on a summer getaway. It was just a wonderful place. Located a few minutes from the ski resort (Durango Mountain) and 25 minutes from town. The cabin was well appointed with all the necessary linens, furniture, pots & pans, and entertainment options to make your stay easy and comfortable. Also, there is a full sized washer and dryer. Definitely reduced the amount of clothing we had to pack.

Dealing with the owners was very easy. Everything handled via email and regular mail.
