I was born in Paris, France. From there I moved to Rome for 4 years then to New York City where I lived for 25 years in the East Village. I’ve also traveled quite a bit to exotic places: Nepal, India, Algeria, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Jamaica, Mexico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Sicily, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panama, Laos, Vietnam, Turkey, Bali.
I‘ve been all around the world, but I’ve chosen to live in Woodstock, for its beauty, tranquility, and community.
Evelyne Pouget purchased this house in 1993
The history of the land upon which it is built is a history rich with art, music, creativity, and self-expression. The previous owners were both artists. And before them, the property was owned by the legendary Ruth Ingalls, a grand dame who turned it into a Creative Arts camp – a dynamic place where Bob Dylan and many other locals sent their children to learn, grow, and experience.
Jimi Hendrix once lived across the street. So did Jimmy Cobb, the legendary drummer who played with Miles Davis, George Bellows, the great American painter lived on the next block. And today, the tradition continues. Within a five-minute drive are the homes and studios of more than 40 artists – many of whom will be happy to show you their work (if we give them just a bit of notice).
On a quiet dead end lane just 12 minutes walk from cappuccino, restaurants and the center of town. Amazing gardens, mountain views, lawns, privacy. Original artwork on every wall. Wireless internet. A great vacation place, a long retreat heaven! A fun family home away from home! Come and experience it, you will want to move there!
....and you may!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Blue Pearl and in Woodstock. Everything was perfect, easy to book, easy to get to, wonderful cottage, great location, a short pleasant walk into the village. Very comfortable and everything we needed was provided. A very relaxing and romantic place to stay. Thank you!
This sweet cottage was pure delight. Everything about it was wonderful.....to the feeling of zen; designer sheets and comfortable bed to the fire pit! Even had a sweet bunny greet us every morning. Will definitely return in the fall!
When my fiancé and I first walked into the Blue Pearl we were in awe. Much bigger then we anticipated, we walked around taking in the sun shining from the skylights throughout the living room space and bedroom. (There is a shade for the skylight in the bedroom for those sensitive to sunlight in the AM). The kitchen was very cute and well equipped with anything you may need for a nice meal. It was nice to have different types of tea provided if you were in the mood for a cup on a cozy night or first thing in the morning. The bathroom has great hot water and the basic essentials you may need with fresh towels. We loved the small fireplace that was put in the cottage for ambience. There is good heating and AC in the cottage. Cd's and a small radio, chess, checkers and cards, books are provided for your down time. This place was very clean and the decor was like no other... It was a bit nippy outside for this time of year so we decided not to sit out front in the garden but we would love to when we come back! There are lots of shops near by which we loved and had a great time buying a few things. The people in the small town near by are very friendly. The restaurants near by have good food. A lot of organic ingredients which is always a plus for me! Overall we had a very relaxing stay and would love to revisit!
Upon arriving at a vacation destination , whether it be a house, cottage, cabin, hotel room, we usually do so with great anticipation. Opening the door to the Blue Pearl was like none other!. The cottage is warm, inviting, beautiful with the owners art work displayed and the unique lovely decor. Although it was cold for this time of year, each day we bundled up and enjoyed the view of overlook mountain from the front yard. Thank you for this great experience. We want to come again and will tell our relatives and friends about the Blue Pearl.
With warm regards,
Larry and Joan
My boyfriend and I had a marvelous stay at the Blue Pearl. The Blue Pearl truly lives up to its name "The Hidden Gem". It is located in a quiet, peaceful area surrounded by nature and its beautiful amenities. The interior is magnificent and shines all over. I would strongly recommend this rental to anyone who is interested in a unique and one of a kind experience. Thank you!!!
It's 3:00 in the afternoon. We planned to visit the monastery, Roosevelt's library, and take a walk through the charming town, but we're still here at the Blue Pearl! There was no place else we would rather be. The elegance of the decor was museum quality, indeed, with Evelyne's art work throughout the cottage,, it was a museum. And not just the paintings and photographs - as she explained when we arrived, this cottage was her 3 dimensional canvas. Comfort, elegance, beauty await you at the Blue Pearl. If this sounds like an advertisement, that's the kind of spell this place casts on you. It's been a week since our visit and we are still glowing.
