A recent review: "....My family recently returned from staying at this lovely home. The view from the house is beautiful and a perfect way to start a day with a cup of coffee. We felt immediately at home, and the house was stocked with everything, and I mean everything you could ever want in a vacation rental! From a veggie steamer to band aids, to beach towels, to Tupperware, you name it and it was there. My whole family commented on what a find this house is. We hope to go back again next year....but we plan to stay longer!!!!!..."

About Jane Tenenbaum or David Tenenbaum

We're brother and sister, fell in love with Martha's Vineyard when our parents brought us there as teenagers. We used to take off our shoes the moment we arrived and didn't put them again on until we got off the ferry on our way home to N.Y. Now we squeeze in time at the house whenever it's not rented. Jane is the gardener; Dave is the fixer-upper. We love this place!

Jane Tenenbaum or David Tenenbaum purchased this house in 1967

Why Jane Tenenbaum or David Tenenbaum chose Martha's Vineyard

What could be nicer than one of the quietest roads on Martha's Vineyard, in Aquinnah (formerly called Gay Head)? Going to some great beaches, sunning (napping), reading on the large deck while watching the water and birds, the sound of the ocean at night, a rural road for walking or biking, ... In Aquinnah, you are practically surrounded by water!

What makes this house unique

Sailing, boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, sunning, relaxing, reading, birdwatching, beach-combing. Bike rental available near ferry (they deliver to the house). We supply everything you need except food, so you don't have to waste time shopping in traffic at the other end of the island! Wonderful enclosed outdoor shower, and your choice of terrific beaches!

Amazing view and tranquility. Gracious and helpful hosts.

The full length deck offers 180 degrees of North and Westerly perspectives including views of Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeth Islands. We saw a different (usually dramatic) sunset disappear into the ocean almost every night. The afternoon sun kept the bugs at bay on the deck well into the evening and the night stars were unspoiled by any artificial light. The house was very well appointed with ample linens and kitchen equipment. The wifi signal was sufficient for streaming and occasional office needs. The provided Aquinnah parking pass gave us access to all the town beaches & landing points lots (except Philbin beach, which is an extra $50). The local roads are great for biking - we biked to Philbin beach each evening for a swim (15 min ride - no charge for bikes, at least after 5!) & made a similar length trek to the bike ferry in Menemsha to access fish markets groceries and restaurants. Menemsha also has Kayak / small motor boat rentals for sightseeing and fishing in Menemsha Pond or Dogfish Bar / Lobsterville. An overall great up-island experience that we look forward to repeating.

Life is a Beach!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great Up island home. Plenty of rooms for my teenagers, and Wifi which made them even happier. Other than the great location, the deck was my favorite part. We could see the ocean and watch the sunset every night. I miss it already! Because of the greenery and dunes you felt as though there wasn't a house for miles! I also have to mention that Jane and Dave were very easy to work with and answered any question I had immediately! I will miss having one of the worlds best beaches within 8 minutes from the house...till next time!

Lovely view and home!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this beautiful house and view! The house was bright and cheery, and great to stay in even when it was rainy! It's private enough to be so peaceful, yet close to the main road and a great walk to the Aquinnah cliffs! The pretty garden out front, new linens, carefully chosen décor and attention to detail added to the overall wonderful experience! Thank you for providing this haven for us!

Great Vacation House!

  • 5 of 5

We planned a vacation this year with two other couples. This charming house had plenty of space-- no problem accommodating our group. The deck is serene, almost like a ship, and I felt so nestled in nature that I woke up many mornings at dawn with the birds. Several of us cook and were quite pleased that the kitchen seemed to have anything we needed--it feels like a house that is lived in and has accumulated those necessary items naturally. The stuff that you might forget--beach towels, beach chairs, hand lotion, board games, bug spray all were available. There was a great assortment of all kinds of interesting books to read, and cable TV/DVD as well as an iPod player (thank you!).

We ended up driving or biking all over the island on different days. It's pretty easy to get around, to find beautiful scenery and interesting shops. We walked and biked to the Cliffs (amazing and beautiful) and the beach. We seemed to end up at the restaurant by the lighthouse most days for lunch, and I loved shopping for wampum jewelry in the Native-owned marketplace.

The owners of the home were hospitable and very friendly, and we just had a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend.

loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We have been going to MV for 5 years. This was our second year up island, and our first in Aquinnah. The drawbacks are limited restaurants and the nearest supermarket is pretty far, but if you want to enjoy nature, peace and quiet, this is the right place for you. I feel like we have finally found "home." The owner was absolutely lovely over the phone--booking was easy, and she was very responsive once we were in the house. My husband commented on how well the house was stocked, including basic medical supplies. The other reviews are correct, what makes this house extra special is the deck. It is large and gracious, with a big picnic table and many lounging chairs. The views are the best. I enjoyed my coffee every morning with the birds, and sunsets in the evening. There is a ""no light pollution" law in Aquinnah, which means that the star gazing is amazing on this end of the island as well. At night I was lulled by the distant sound of the surf and the lights of boats in the distance. The master bedroom is large and comfortable, and my kids were excited about each of their rooms below. Full size washer/dryer was also a plus. The only reason I hesitate writing this review is that I don't want anyone else to book our time! A lovely retreat.
