The Heart of the Village is situated in “the Village” of Carlsbad, California. With its homes, shops and restaurants, this charming older downtown area provides an oasis from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A few blocks to the west lies the Pacific Ocean, and miles of sandy beach.

The Heart of the Village is an attractive destination year-round, whether you want to warm up in winter or cool down in summer. In spring a short trip south takes you to Carlsbad's Flower Fields, which burst with color and are a tourist attraction in themselves. In fall you will find wonderful weather for taking long walks on the beach, or jogging or biking along the coast.

Parking space is provided, but you may not need a car. Various shopping, dining, and entertainment choices are within walking distance. San Diego (including Qualcomm Stadium, Old Town, San Diego Bay, and Petco Park), Tijuana, and Disneyland are all accessible by rail and trolley. Carlsbad is close enough to Hollywood, snowy mountains, and warm deserts for enjoyable day trips to those locations. And don’t forget Legoland, a short 8-minute drive away. At The Heart of the Village, you can do as much, or as little, as you want to do.

We are three brothers who co-own the property along with one of our five sisters. We grew up on this property, as the city of Carlsbad grew up around us.

My family has owned the property since my parents bought it in 1944. They raised eight kids through the 1940's, fifties, and sixties.

What makes this apartment unique

The property has a unique location in the middle of the Carlsbad Village. The Pacific Ocean is a short walk away. Or you can shop till you drop, then choose from a variety of dining experiences. If you're up for it, the nightlife in the Village is exciting and very popular. Planning ahead, you can watch world-class events, such as the Carlsbad 5000 race, from your doorstep. Our home away from hone

I almost hate to write his review for fear of his little secret becoming too busy.... BUT I will! We have been coming here for over 3 years every summer with our kids and love it. This location can't be any better. We walk to the beach daily as well as our favorite local places to eat. Always clean and always comfortable! Our kids are now married and still want to continue coming here!

Legoland Trip

We loved the place! Very clean, comfortable and well-equipped. We had promised our grandchildren a visit to Legoland which is about 10 minutes away from the rental. Perfect accommodations for 4 adults and two children. Village location was fantastic with Pub across the street, beach within walking distance, numerous restaurants nearby and very close to I-5. Patio area was icing on the cake!

We loved this place! There were four adults and three children in our group and there was plenty of room and privacy. The neighbors were friendly and the owner was very helpful. Everything needed was within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again!

This property was perfect for the 4 of us who were there for a week on a golf vacation and to visit our adult kids who lived nearby. Well equipped with everything we needed from A to Z. The pictures do not do it justice. It is so cute, clean and cozy, hated to leave it. Beds were extra comfy. Beach was a 10 minute walk at best. Numerous stores and restaurants within 2-10 minute walk, no need for a car except for our golf trips. People were all very friendly. Train depot a 5 minute walk, could have taken it into San Diego for $2.50. Farmers market 1 block up was a big hit too. Spent lots of time just enjoying the twalking of the neighborhood which made us feel very safe. Next trip you bet we will look forward to staying here again. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us, it was even better than described!!

Great house, great location!

Rented this wonderful home for a week with my husband, daughter and parents. We could not have been happier with the accommodations. The house is stocked with everything that you could need, from kitchen supplies to satellite TV if you want to stay in for a night. The area is great, friendly neighbours, great restaurants and stores within walking distance. There is a train station within 1-2 blocks that takes you directly into San Diego if you don't have a car. The owner was excellent to deal with, I have rented houses on several other vacations, and this by far was my best experience. If we return to Carlsbad, we would absolutely rent this home again!
