Family memories that will last a lifetime

  • 5 of 5

We had a family of 8 adults and 5 children, the Black Pearl was the perfect location and home for us to enjoy family time. Not once did the children even mention needing to "go" anywhere other than the pool at the property or the beach which was a short walk away. We especially enjoyed the daily dolphin sightings. Although there was a very nice TV, was only used to watch Dolphin Tail 2 after our trip to the Clearwater Aquarium where we saw Winter & Hope. It was so wonderful to NOT have to visit Disney during our Florida vacation and the kids did not even ask (ages 1 - 10). The other families staying at the unit were a lot of fun and sharing the pool area seemed very simple, I believe we have developed some new friendships!

Publix, Walgreens, Surf Shop, all within walking distance. We did 90% of the eating at the house, saved money, stress of restaurants, etc... Each couple took a night for dinner prep, ordered pizza in one evening (local pizza place, not a chain) and John's Pass for another.

We rented a pontoon boat for 4 hours, fair price and everyone enjoyed it!

I would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for a family vacation to remember!

Nice but noisy

  • 3 of 5

The property itself is nice and roomy. But since another unit is right above it, you can hear every. single. step. And conversations from the units above and next door. We all lost a LOT of sleep on what was supposed to be a rejuvenating vacation. I finally left and went to a hotel one night because it was 10:30pm and I needed to be up early in the morning and there was no end in sight for the noise. The kitchen wasn't very well-appointed either as far as serving dishes, baking dishes, etc.

Owner's Response: That's unfortunate about the noise. We do know that some guests make more noise than others. We are checking on the dishes and other kitchenware to make sure they are up to our standards. Vacation rentals will tend not to have as many kitchen items as a home that has been lived in for years, however. We hope the positive elements of this rental helped to create some pleasant memories for these guests.

The place was nice and clean. There were issues though.

  • 3 of 5

The pool water was green the first three days we were there. The pool guy did come out three days in a row. The kitchen was lacking in cookware and utensils. One pan had the non-stick coating peeling off and no dish towels. The other three units had a ton of kids. Most of our group never got to use the pool. The kids upstairs would start running from end to end at 7am. The floors are wood so the noise comes right through. Our group also had a beach chair and umbrella stolen. We placed them under the stairs after the first day. Because the property doesn't supply any chairs, umbrellas or carts the other renters thought our stuff was up for grabs. They said the property was supposed to have these items, which it doesn't. Overall, the unit was nice but our group will not be staying at a place that shares with three other units.
