Guestbook comments from the manager

We have had a fantastic stay in your homes -- enjoying Mariposa, Serena and Colores as well.

This has been an incredible family gathering for us -- a place to share and reminise, to hear and tell stories and a place to laugh. My father spent 3 years in Los Alamos (1943-46) so returning is very special for us.

Your homes are comfortable, welcoming and private --a place to relax and connect.

Thank you so much for helping us to come together.

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had three adults in this lovely home and it was perfect! The home itself is well-appointed, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the bedrooms with private baths made the environment private and comfortable for all of us. The location is also wonderful -- we walked everywhere -- to the grocery store, to the plaza, and to Canyon Road's gallery district. We were also a 7 minute drive to some great hiking.

We had a nice time in Santa Fe. The house was very comfortable, centrally located and very quiet. We would recommend this property to our friends and families.

Cozy but not comfortable

  • 2 of 5

It's a cute house that includes all of the basics needed. The house was also extremely clean - kudos to their cleaning service!

We had three challenges with this home:

1. Cold House: it took 48 hours for the radiant heating to appropriate heat the house. It snowed 2 of the 5 days we were there; slept in layers the first couple of nights.

2. Living Room: comfortably seats two people. Our family likes to watch movies at night. The oversized loveseat was great, but the upright chairs were not.

3. Uncomfortable Beds: this is non-negotiable for us. The queen bed had a spring mattress that was uncomfortable and sqeaked when you moved. The two twin beds are standard twins - not XL. The were too small for our kids, and the spring mattresses are lumpy. Only 1 flat pillow provided per person, and not enough blankets. A lot can be forgiven but not uncomfortable beds. An easy fix is to simply buy new (and longer twin) mattresses and pillows and provide comforters and/or blankets. We did find one blue comforter for the queen bed in the closet - but nothing for the twin beds.

The first two items are really FYIs - they might not be applicable to all renters. However, I do recommend addressing the beds.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry for your experience at Casa Tranquila and that the home did not meet your expectations. We have over 50 reviews and this is the first time we have heard of such an experience from our guests. The heat in these old adobe homes is radiant and it does take some time to be brought up to temperature had it been turned down or off. It is my thinking that, as the weather was quite variable the week before your arrival, the previous guest turned down the heat. I am so sorry for this and had you informed us, I could have brought to you some supplemental heaters for your comfort. I will also take your suggestion and review the beds. We have not received any complaints about them but I will definitely take a look to determine if they should be replaced. Mattress comfort is personal and we really try to have the beds to the comfort of most of our guests. Again, I am so sorry for your less than ideal experience. Richard

We so enjoyed our stay and will consider this our primary choice when visiting Santa Fe. Clean, comfortable and in a nice little residential area. All the features you could want nice bathrooms, lovely outdoor seating and up to date appliances plus easy parking.
