Wai’ula’ula at the newly renovated and reopened Mauna Kea Resort, located on the Big Island of Hawaii, is a unique residential community, complete with luxurious condominiums, as well as family oriented activities. The homes are situated in a private and peaceful setting, the perfect locale for your tranquil retreat.

Our Poli Ahu condominium (named after the Hawaiian goddess) is a second story, 3 bedroom, 3 bath duplex, with almost 2,500 sq. ft of living space and panoramic ocean and golf course views. Our home is designer decorated with mahogany wood trim and stone finishes throughout. The workmanship, details and furnishing details are unrivaled by any of the resorts in the area.

Our home includes a covered lanai (patio) complete with a wet bar, SubZero under-counter refrigerator and a built-in Wolf stainless steel gas barbecue and rotisserie.

There are two master suites, both of which feature coffered ceilings and walk in closets. The master baths boast soaking tubs and spacious walk-in stone and glass showers. In addition to the third bedroom our living room has a pull out king sofa sleeper allowing you to sleep 8 comfortably. To enhance your travel experience each room is fitted with a European style plush pillow top bed and a choice of hypo-allergenic soft and medium pillows.

The Hale ‘Ikena Amenity Center is exclusive to Wai’ula’ula homeowners and guests, and is the epitome of a fitness, swimming and activity center. Surrounded by a dramatic infinity edge pool which reaches towards the Pacific, there are shallow water sunning areas as well as oversize lounges for relaxing while enjoying the view of the horizon. This is the idyllic spot for a heart-pumping workout, a lazy day at the pool, or even a dinner party using the poolside kitchen or barbeque.

Enjoy all the amenities of the world-renowned Mauna Kea Resort, including easy access to beautiful white sand beaches (includes lounge chairs and towels) , award-winning golf courses (hotel guest rates), tennis courts (hotel guest rates), fitness centers, spas, restaurants, as well as hotel concierge services. There is a fee for resort amenity access which you pay directly to the resort.

Mauna Kea is located along the beautiful and famed Kohala Coast. This area of the island is quiet and peaceful, yet only a thirty minute drive from the airport. The towns of Kawaihae and Waimea are conveniently close, five and twenty minutes respectively, with each offering a wide variety of dining and shopping options.

About Kai

Our family of four love our Vacation home in Wai'ula'ula. We have visited the entire west coast of the Big Island from South Kona to Puako on the Kohala Coast for nearly 30 years. We found that we love the Mauna Kea resort area. At the Mauna Kea Resort we have the best of both worlds; a luxury hotel with all of the Amenities at our beck and call and the ability to be completely on our own and away from all of the rush at our own luxury vacation home at the lowest density development on the Big Island - Wai'ula'ula. We could not find a better place to indulge ourselves in sun bathing, surfing, and golf. There is not a better way to lose yourself in your vacation!

Most of our fondest family memories have been from the heady moments of our first snorkeling experience, surfing with dolphins and sea turtles, tennis on the most beautiful courts in the world, our first golf lesson and relaxing on the Mauna Kea beach sipping Frederico's and watching the whales play and the sunset with a green flash! There is no other setting like this on the Hawaiian Islands

Perfect location and perfect house for a family

First time to Hawaii- glad we stayed here- very spacious home that worked great for our family of 5- house was clean and well appointed (upper floor of 4 townhome unit).. Kai from the management staff was awesome and extremely helpful- he even caught a mistake in our planned flights that would have been a disaster. Workout area and local pool very short walk <200 ft. We enjoyed the pool and beach at Mauna Kea Resort on a daily basis as there is major construction going on at Hapuna Prince Resort. Beach and chair service wAs perfect. Would recommend booking the luau at Mauna Kea resort and also the nightime manta snorkle that leaves right feom the beach- the kids loved it

A fabulous stay, we will definitely return!

This Wai’ Ula Ula Condo was superb! The condo was spacious and tastefully decorated and we enjoyed stunning ocean sunsets from the lanai each evening. It easily accommodated our family of 6 and one toddler. The kitchen was well appointed and the beds were very comfortable.

We really enjoyed the community pool as well as access to the two best beaches and hotels on the Island: Hapuna and Mauna Kea. The property manager, Kai, was very helpful, regularly checking in with us to see how we were doing. We plan to return in the future.

Back to back years were great.

Love being able to use Mauna Kea and Hapuna resorts but return each day to a large, nicely appointed condo. The views are great, and the evening sunset can not be beaten. We loved to hike the coastal trail and explore more than just the resort. Great turtle viewing on Pakua. Worth the trip. This was our second visit. Will be back. Thanks ---

Rarely does a property live up to or exceed its description, but this one exceeds in spades! It's hard to believe that a so beautifully "decorated" place can also be so utilitarian and comfortable yet we and our two young boys (7 & 9) could not have been more at ease. Especially telling was that after a day at beach and pool, we could not wait to return to the unit where we felt we were in luxury, especially on the deck with its gorgeous view and comfortable furnishings. In short, this unit measures up to being a "paradise in paradise."

While the facility could not be better, there is an additional "luxury" not found in any of the nearby units as the owner has a charming and knowledgeable local person who greets you on arrival and is always available to answer questions, provide advice which runs the gamut from locating local farmers' markets to suggesting medical resources, really almost any question that pops up during the stay. She makes an already amazing place into a personalized retreat.

All in all, the condo was OK. Needed to be cleaned better before arrival. Seemed dusty. The lines need to be upgraded and the pillows were terrible. Way to hard. It would have been nice to be able to use the garage. Other than these items, a good time was had by all. Thank you.

We were very happy with this property. Well equipped and very close to the community pool which the kids loved. Bedrooms were great and the property manager was very helpful. Really like the access to the two beaches and the parking permits as well. Best part may have been the Lanai as we spent plenty of time relaxing and staring at the ocean. We would return.
