About the property

Bungalow, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-6)

This is a 1943 beach bungalow that has been completely remodeled inside and out with a designers flair. With its easy breezy relaxed beach decor and solid wood floors you are truly transported back to simpler times the minute you walk through the doors. The kitchen has a light and bright retro beachy theme with an authentic 1950's O'Keefe and Merritt stove/oven with a center heating element to make your favorite pancakes on. However all the modern day technology is available too, ie. 46' LCD screen with cable, DVD, and dvr available plus wifi so you can bring your own laptop. The new bathroom features a claw foot tub/shower to relax in after a day at the beach with an endless supply of on demand hot water already set at a comfortable 115 degrees. All you have to do is flip the handle.

The front yard has been professionally landscaped including a 'sandy beach' area with two Adirondack chairs so you can view the endless parade of sailboats and windsurfers. The back yard is fenced in to provide safety for your children away from the street. The back yard has a small grassy area, hot tub, sunning deck, patio and bbq.

If you choose to do nothing but read on your vacation we've taken care of that too. There is a small library of paperback books available for you to choose from. And if you bring a book you've already read and no longer want feel free to participate in the book exchange. Take a book/leave a book.

There are a few restaurants within a few minutes including a short walk over the bridge to the Barefoot Beach Club where you can enjoy your food while observing the sharks and fish swimming along in their enclosed waterway that surrounds the outside eating patio.

About Terri Miller

I love having a place in San Diego I can go to any time and love sharing it with other families who love staying in a home away from home. The minute I walk through the door I immediately feel relaxed and know I'm on vacation. I have a ton of books there and have fun just picking one out to read each time I go. But anything I want to do seems so accessible there. I can watch the sail boats right outside my door every day or rent one if I want to do it myself. I can kayak. Or take a bike ride down to the beach but I don't have to put up with the parking problems. At night I can watch the fireworks at Sea World from my front yard. I love it there and want other people to enjoy it too.

Terri Miller purchased this bungalow in 2008

Why Terri Miller chose Pacific Beach

Location. And views. San Diego is a fun, active community with the best weather in the country. We are so close to all things San Diego. Right on the waters of Mission Bay in Pacific Beach, access to boardwalk just across the street. A short drive to downtown, Coronado Island, LaJolla, Sea World, the list goes on. The best of everything. A quiet neighborhood within minutes of the freeways and beaches. A true getaway.

What makes this bungalow unique

It's cozy and comfortable. Great views. It's been recently renovated from top to bottom, inside and out. The back yard has a bbq and hot tub. So after a long day at the beach, which is nearby, I look forward to relaxing in my own back yard. The boardwalk to the beach is right outside my door where I can ride my bike or walk my dog.

Beautiful views and weather to match.

What a wonderful getaway weekend we had at Bungalow by the Bay! Terri was a pleasure to work with, and the home was perfect. From the moment we pulled up to see the mini beach with chairs in the front yard overlooking the bay, to the time we left, we had a great experience. The home was stocked with everything one could need and more. The weather was beautiful, and the home lent itself nicely to enjoying the breezes with plenty of windows and doors overlooking the bay or backyard hideaway. We enjoyed several sunsets from the comfort of the front yard utilizing the mini beach setup and chairs. There is such an amazing view of the bay, cars traveling on the street frequently slow down or stop to take photos! Just a few steps away from the front door are stairs to experience the beautiful views directly on the beach. We chose exploring by foot rather than renting a car. There were a ton of great restaurants and beach activities within a mile or two of the home. When we wanted to relax, we were able to enjoy the home amenities such as the cozy hot tub when the evening temperatures were just right. We also loved sitting on the back porch soaking in the amazing weather. Downtown was a short 15 minute cab ride. The beds were very comfortable, and the shower always had plenty of hot water. The bathroom was also well supplied with essentials. I fell in love with San Diego and this lovely home.

Well appointed, cozy, beach bungalow!

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed our stay here. Terri has truly thought of everything! Our daughter loved the kids room with all the nice touches. There is a puppy stuffed animal she particularly took to. :). Lots of time in the hot tub! Sitting out front having our morning coffee was also nice. We'll miss it and would definitely return!!

Good location, has character, but could use some updating and cleaning

  • 3 of 5

It's a good location but not idea for young children. The front yard is up against a very busy blind street corner. No fence or barrier to the street. It's also difficult to cross the street to the stairs that lead to the beach for the same reason: the cars are going fast, and not looking or stoping for anyone on the corner. Backyard is great, but hot tub and grill were not clean when we checked in and the hot tub's filter was so clogged is could not heat up. The grill element and lighter need to be replaced. Bikes and wagon are in good shape, but the beach equipment that is listed in the property is old. We opted to just use towels.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry everything was not as expected Cynthia. I did talk to to my spa maintenance man he explained the filter sign is not indicative to how clean the filter is. It's only a reminder that its time to check it. It is cleaned on a regular basis with or without the reminder. The filter was clean when we looked at it and did not prevent the spa from heating up. When we checked, the spa was working. In fact it was still at 98* a day later. A note to all my guests as mentioned in my directions: the spa top must be closed while heating and it must be set at standard mode. Otherwise it's in conservation mode. And it takes between one and two hours to heat up depending on how cold it is. Thanks for the heads up on the beach equipment. I was unaware it was too old. I'll look it over. As far as updating and cleaning. This is the second BBQ I have installed for my guests. I will take it apart and clean it. I recently have refaced the kitchen cabinets, got a new washer and dryer in the house and added front loading machines in the garage. Replaced my old dining set with a new one. Replaced the spa top. And added an outdoor shower for people to use prior to getting in the spa to help keep in clean. I always appreciate the input from my guests and make the appropriate changes. It's an ongoing process to say the least. :). Thanks again for your business. It's very much appreciated.

Lovely Bay Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Terri's house over our spring break with our three teen boys. The home is well equipped both inside and out. We enjoyed being able to bike and walk the bay path which is just across the street from the house. The large backyard was a great hangout place even with the foggy weather we had. There's a great yogurt place and Trader Joe's just up the street from the house. The walk to Mission Beach is fun. We liked that we were able to walk to Mission Beach and Belmont Park, but the house was away from the crowds. There is a bit of road noise at the house, but we live in a neighborhood with no road noise, so this might not be an issue for most people. Overall, the house is a great place to stay and we'd spend our break there again. Thanks, Terri!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure hosting you and your family. Thank you Jennifer. I'm very happy you enjoyed yourselves. Some of the road noise, in part, was due to an increase in traffic as a result of a detour around road construction off Ingraham Street. Fortunately, it is an inconvenient but temporary situation. Im sorry you had to deal with that. Perhaps next visit the situation will be improved. :) Sincerely, Terri

Great location...50 feet to jogging path/boardwalk that meanders around the bay. Literally minutes from rollercoaster on Pacific Beach, ocean and downtown San Diego to include Gas lamp District, Chargers Stadium and Petco Park where the San Diego Padres play. Boat races at certain times of year within walking distance.
