About The Owner

My husband was born and raised in Carmel, we were married in Carmel Valley 30 years ago and have been going to either the village or Carmel often in those 30 years. This area is home and we plan to retire there someday. Currently we live in the San Francisco Bay area. Our country home has become our retreat, a place to unwind and recharge .We love to get out of the city and into the sunshine and slower pace of the country. We never grow tired of looking out at the vineyard filled valley from our deck or driving into Carmel for a sunset walk on the amazing white sand beach.

The Owner purchased this house in 2001

Why The Owner chose Central Coast

We found this property by chance on a business trip to Carmel. Once the realtor opened the gate to the property and we saw the beautiful meadow filled with lupine, poppies and ancient oak trees we knew we were home.

What makes this house unique

We love the quiet. You will notice when you first get out of the car the only sound you hear is the crickets and the frogs. We love the views of the valley, watching the finger of fog moving in and out of the valley below in the early morning or evening. We love eating dinner out on our deck in the soft candlelight on a warm night. We love to drive into Carmel to walk on the beach at sunset. There are so many things to do but often we just stay home with a pile of books and sit on the deck reading and relaxing.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed our peaceful private retreat. Surprised you mentioned the pool wasn't heated. We just installed a solar pool heater this January. Because it is solar heater it would be weather and sun dependent. We personally like the pool to be cool enough to be refreshing but not freezing. We have a hot tub for those who prefer warm water. I will have our pool guy check the new system to make sure it is working optimally.

This retreat is peaceful, clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The only bad aspect of this getaway is that it is remote. The drive from Carmel Valley Village to intersection of the street where this two- house retreat is located is a 15-minute drive, then the next four miles to the secure gate to the pristine 20-acre setting takes another fifteen minutes. It would take less time in a road-hugging sports car, but we were in a 4X4 diesel pick-up. The owner was very helpful & kind. She answered questions quickly. She did her best at making sure we were doing fine & relaxing. Her integrity is commendable and her understanding is refreshing! This retreat is absolultely wonderful, especially if you want to get and stay away from it all.

Beautiful views; very private and secluded. Worked great for our group!

The outdoor spaces and views from the multi-layer deck were amazing. The home was cozy and clean and worked great for our mixed age group ranging from seniors to elementary age kids.

Great secluded property

  • 5 of 5

Very nice, spacious property. The Kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and cooking/coffee makers. Beds are all very comfortable. Has great sound system inside and outside the house. My friends were able to put the hot tub and pool to good use. There is a beautiful view from the back porch of the surrounding valley. House is heated by a fireplace but ample wood for heating and the fire pit. 40 mins from the ocean and 20 mins from Carnell Valley Village; the only downside is that the roads up to the house are windy and narrow at points. Would come back again.

A Celebration of 300 Years!

  • 5 of 5

Four of us, college classmates who graduated in 1963, gathered for a week in this beautiful spot to celebrate our 75th birthdays. We couldn't have found a more perfect place! The house is surrounded by lovely views and is totally isolated from any neighbors. We so enjoyed being together without the usual distractions of modern life.

The four bedrooms gave us plenty of privacy, and the well-stocked kitchen allowed us to cook each night after a day of exploring along the spectacular coast. We got a kick out of the twisting road up from the valley, and became almost as adept with it as the natives after a few days.

The house and grounds are filled with creative art and whimsy -- so many surprises in each room, out each door, and on each level of the gardens and pool. One of our favorites was an old wooden panel from a 2-seat outhouse, hung on a shed wall. We enjoyed the grill, the hot tub, the TV (to watch the Cubs win the World Series!), and the deck right outside the living room where we watching hummingbirds feed and finches bath in a little pool a few feet from where we were sitting. Oh, and there were fresh limes for our vodka and tonics every night and rosemary for our chicken.

In short, this is a spectacular place to gather with those you love.
