About The Owner

My husband was born and raised in Carmel, we were married in Carmel Valley 30 years ago and have been going to either the village or Carmel often in those 30 years. This area is home and we plan to retire there someday. Currently we live in the San Francisco Bay area. Our country home has become our retreat, a place to unwind and recharge .We love to get out of the city and into the sunshine and slower pace of the country. We never grow tired of looking out at the vineyard filled valley from our deck or driving into Carmel for a sunset walk on the amazing white sand beach.

The Owner purchased this house in 2001

Why The Owner chose Carmel Valley

We found this property by chance on a business trip to Carmel. Once the realtor opened the gate to the property and we saw the beautiful meadow filled with lupine, poppies and ancient oak trees we knew we were home.

What makes this house unique

We love the quiet. You will notice when you first get out of the car the only sound you hear is the crickets and the frogs. We love the views of the valley, watching the finger of fog moving in and out of the valley below in the early morning or evening. We love eating dinner out on our deck in the soft candlelight on a warm night. We love to drive into Carmel to walk on the beach at sunset. There are so many things to do but often we just stay home with a pile of books and sit on the deck reading and relaxing.

December 27. Warm cozy fire. Tranquil surroundings. Pink valley sunrises. Perfect getaway.

This cabin is perfect for a family gathering... dogs included. Fenced property, warm fire place, several rooms and many places to curl up or lay out and enjoy the afternoon sun. We stayed for three days and will be looking forward to come back.

Memorable Family Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

Our family has so many wonderful memories from our stay at this house. It was a beautiful venue with views that were breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside amenities! While itwas a little trip from town you do have to make sure you have everything you need because you cannot take a quick trip to the store. The house had many things for us that we needed to use to cook and stay and be comfortable. It's definitely a place we would consider a second vacation head. My children called the vacation of a lifetime and very memorable! Internet worked fine but cell phone service was very sporadic. Not that that's a bad thing! The owner was very accommodating as well.

Wonderful outdoors. Worth the Steep Drive

  • 4 of 5

This home was a wonderful place to stay. I had my family there to celebrate my fathers 70th birthday. We loved the outdoor pool and hot tub. Plenty of room for the whole family. The final 3.5 mile drive up was a little scary at first, but after the first time it was no longer a surprise and i could do it again. Would love to plan a girls trip where we stayed on site the whole time to explore.

The property was absolutely gorgeous! Pristine and very private!

  • 4 of 5

This property was incredible! The instructions for everything are easy to follow and let you enjoy the features of the house and apartment! The only set back was the detour, it made the drive into town prohibitive unless you had to attend an event! Yes it adds 20-25 minutes to the trip but it’s not on a flat, straight road, it’s on sharp curves for miles! Seems 40 minutes to town was what we experienced! Overall it was a wonderful trip and are completely satisfied with our choice of this house!

Absolutely gorgeous, cute, and quaint

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure of staying at Madalene's beautiful home/cottage/cabin last weekend and nothing but good things to say about it. Yes, it is a bit far from civilization but that's what you expect when so much land is on one person's property! The house was perfect for what we needed, and the hot tub and pool were an added bonus to our weekend. We arrived at night on Friday night so when we woke up on Saturday we were just AMAZED by the views that the backyard afforded us. Simply serene, I would love to come back if Madalene lets us! Thank you so much!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review, you are welcome back anytime. It is much easier to get to once the road is repaired which should be this Jan. Happy Holidays to you and your family Madalene

This place has just about everything!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriends and I came to celebrate a birthday for the weekend and we were blown away at how well-equipped the place is. Forget a hat? No problem! Need towels, blankets, etc.? Got you covered! Whoops, you forgot ketchup or hot sauce? The extra fridge in the garage has extra condiments. The scenery is stunning, the hot tub was warm and inviting, and the preceding heat wave warmed the pool for us nicely, as well. The lights strung over the deck create the perfect ambiance for dining outdoors. We even found some candles for the outdoor chandelier. On our last night we enjoyed friend time and singing around the fire pit. This house is so amazing I'm hoping we make it a yearly tradition!
