Best Cabin Value Right On The Skykomish River | Dogs Welcomed | View Hot Tub

Bedrooms 2
Space 805 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4), on a unique river beach

Sky Beach Cabin is a cute cozy bungalow style cabin only fifty steps from scenic Skykomish River in the Cascade Mountains 60 miles northeast of Seattle.

There is a half-mile long rocky/sandy river beach much of the year, great for kids and dogs to explore. Lounge chairs, firepit, and table/chairs are on the beach in the summer to put you right next to the river with a great view of the surrounding Cascade Mountains.

The cabin is reminiscent of rustic beach bungalows but completely remodeled inside with upscale touches such as a terrific full kitchen, wifi, satellite TV, very comfortable king bed, covered outdoor deck and hot tub, and adorable fishing cabin decor. There is also a small deck off the main bedroom with a mountain and river view - great place for coffee in the morning sun.

Outdoor recreationists will love the rural mountainous area of Northwest Washington with three nearby wilderness areas and a national forest with great hiking, whitewater rafting & kayaking, mountain biking, skiing, seasonal fishing, and rock climbing. The cabin is 24 miles west of Stevens Pass Ski Mountain with skiing, mountain biking, summer scenic chairlift rides, and disc golf. The cabin is 60 miles/90 minutes northeast of Seattle.

Note: You don't have to drive over a pass to get to the cabin when coming from the Seattle area. However, you need to be prepared for winter driving conditions approximately late November-February.

In the summer the beach is set up with a fire pit for beach fires, chairs & loungers next to the Skykomish River, providing a charming place to relax and enjoy the sound of the river lapping on the beach. Sky Beach Cabin is located in a sparsely populated area, so most likely you will have the beach to yourselves, with the occasional fisherman walking by. The rocky beach is an easy 25ft from the cabin (no steep bank).

There is also a fire ring in the yard next to the cabin which can be used year-round weather permitting and no burn ban.

The cabin is located on a wooded lot. There are other cabins in the area as well as private residences, with fences on both sides to provide privacy.

The main bedroom has a new king log bed with 2" memory foam topper, a 32" TV, smart/blue ray DVD player, and writing desk with river view. Good size closet for longer stay storage.

The second bedroom is located on the opposite end of the cabin, providing privacy. This bedroom has bunk beds with full on bottom and twin above. (Note: the upper bunk is not suitable for small children as it does not have a side rail.) In order to keep costs down, the second bedroom is closed off when there are only two people and the saving is passed on to you as lower rental rates. If the second bedroom is needed when there are only two people, it will be made available for a one-time additional charge of $25.

The cozy living room has leather sofa, hickory rocking chair, 42" TV, Dish TV, roku, stereo, and electric fireplace.

The kitchen has all the major appliance, and many small appliances including coffee maker, bean grinder, toaster, mixed, food processor, microwave.

The dining table seats up to four people with a view of the river. There is also seating for two at the kitchen counter (doubles as game table).

Up to two clean, flea-free, quiet mature dogs are allowed with an additional charge starting at $20/dog/night. Discount for multiple nights and/or multiple dogs - see notes below rates listings. An adjustment will be made to the quote if there are more than one dog or reservation is more than three nights. Please make a comment if there will be more than one dog.

Note: 4WD, AWD or chains may be required at times in winter. The road is plowed, but it is a somewhat rough mountain road. There will be snow at the cabin when the snow level is 1,000ft or below.

About Brad Olsen

I was born in Seattle, and have lived in Baring since 1978. I worked at several ski areas, including closeby Stevens Pass. I currently remodel cabins in addition to owning/managing Sky Beach Cabin. I love the outdoors, hiking, floating the river, camp fires, music, and golf.

Brad Olsen purchased this cabin in 1978

Why Brad Olsen chose Baring

I love this area not just because I was born here, but also because it is so beautiful year-round. I love the easy accessibility to outdoor recreation - skiing, rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking and fishing.

What makes this cabin unique

Sky Beach Cabin is unique as it has no-bank access to a rocky/sandy beach that is almost a mile long when the river level is low. Most other cabins in this area are on banks with limited access to the river. Children love exploring the rocky beach and dogs love swimming in the river. During the summer there are sandy coves that make great calm, cold water swimming areas. Easy take-out for kayaks, rafts & tubes. Beach camp fires under the stars. Watch the river go by, the moon rise from behind the mountains, dig your toes in the sand, enjoy the cool river breeze on the occasional hot days protected from the sun by the overhanging tree branches. When the river level is low, sit by the river and listen to the water lap gently on the shore imagining yourself on a tropical beach.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This cabin was just what we needed. It was warm, cozy & beautiful. We loved just sitting in the living room or the deck and staring at the river. Our dog even found a friend next door, we called him baby brown. Our only regret is we stayed just one night. We will definitely be back.

100% met my expectations

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to be in the forest by a river, I was looking for a cabin that was rustic but had a few amenities like WIFI, nice kitchen and bath. Brad's cabin was just right, Very easy to find, easy to follow instructions, etc. The river is "right there" so I loved it. I would like to come back during the ski season, it's close to Stevens Pass. Hopefully I will. I really enjoyed my 3 day stay!

Simply perfect

  • 5 of 5

Over the past few years I have rented about a dozen cabins outside of Seattle where my daugher lives, including 3 others in the Baring/Index area. Sky Beach Cabin is far and away my favorite. The cabin comes complete with everything you could possibly need. The layout was perfect for my daughter, son in law and me and the hound. The main bedroom offered plenty of privacy and I loved the private porch. The general space was wonderful and the proximity to the river divine. Great hot tub. Nice mixed rock and sand beach by the gentle (and cold) river. During my visit unfortunately the skies were gray with smoke from the fires in Canada but by the river it did not matter a bit. Close proximity to great hiking and lovely drives. There is a nice market in Gold Bar for supplies. I sure hope to visit Sky Beach Cabin again. Thanks

oh yeah, the friendly feline from next door was good company though you gotta be quick when you open the door to go inside...

This cabin had everything we were hoping for. River access was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin that had the perfect amount of space. The covered porch was very beneficial especially since we got some rain. The river access was exactly what we had hoped for. Our two year old son had a blast throwing lots of rocks into it and exploring around. I hope we get to come back sometime soon!

Everything You Want or Need

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this cabin on the beautiful Skykomish River. My wife and I and two little dogs stayed for two days, but wish we could have stayed longer. This cabin has a rustic, cozy feel yet has every amenity you might desire. Clean and quiet, but most importantly, the owner Brad was super helpful, friendly and professional throughout all our emailed correspondence. Abundant hiking, skiing and fishing in the area - or you can relax and read by the river. A perfect place!

Perfect cabin at the perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

We could not have had a better time. The cabin is pristine and the décor perfect for the mountain/river setting, which is by the way pretty amazingly beautiful. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi all three nights that we were there. The bed was huge and super comfortable. We utilized both fire pits and the bar-b-que. Everything you could possibly need was provided. The owner literally thought of everything from the sound system and lighting on the outside deck to the sweet faux fireplace in the living area. You can even watch your favorites shoes on Netflix. We will do our best to go back.
