About Lorne Tyczenski

I'm living and working in Vancouver, British Columbia, but have fallen in love with San Miguel de Allende. A restaurant owner, I enjoy the blissful relaxation and slower pace of life in San Miguel and am trying very hard, to learn Spanish.

Lorne Tyczenski purchased this house in 2009

Why Lorne Tyczenski chose Colonia San Antonio

This is the home I plan to spend more and more time in as I approach retirement. The home is modern yet traditional, in a wonderful neighborhood convenient to virtually everything in town. I love the area and the short level walk to the Centro.

Beautiful warm comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

Casa Esteban could not have been more perfect. It is a beautiful, warm comfortable home. The rooftop is a lovely spot to relax, watch hot air balloons and fireworks. The renovated kitchen has more than any cook would ever need.

It is located in a small gated community. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the Jardin and in walking distance to everything we wanted to do.

Owners Lorne and Stephen are extremely accommodating.

We will rent here again on our next stay in SMA.

very comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for nearly two months dec-jan. Very well designed, artistically decorated, and it has comfy furniture. Great kitchen, kitchen supplies, and appliances. Washer and dryer. Clean, secure, and spacious enough for 4 (though we had 2 to 3). Good lighting. Comfy bed.

San Antonio neighborhood is a good location...walkable to all. It is a mix of Mexicans and those from the US, etc who have purchased homes.

Would stay here again.

This Dec and January were cold, and all houses in San Miguel do get cold, as they don't have central heating. We enjoyed the fireplace and portable heaters.

Lupe, who came for 3 half-days per week to clean the house, water plants, change linens, etc, and the property manager Norma were responsive and effective.

Nothing to dislike! Thank you to the owners for their thoughtful efforts that made this possible.

Home Sweet Home

  • 5 of 5

PLEASE NOTE: We didn't have emergency contact information until arriving at the house. At 1:00 am PT we learned we had missed our connection and would arrive at Casa Esteban late the next night instead of first thing in the morning. The rental agreement had the full name of the rental manager. I was able to find her email through a Google search. Contact her and find out who will be at the Casa waiting. That way we would have been able to send a text.

I'm not sure I can add much to the compliments about Casa Esteban: Beautiful neighborhood, lovely residential complex with privacy at the casa, secure, clean, beautiful decor, we'll equipped kitchen with high end appliances, pots, pans, etc., courtyards and roof with pretty potted plants. Housekeeping was a treat as was having a washer and dryer and iron and board. We did have company, and the layout gave privacy for our guests and the two of us. We miss our Casa Esteban. We were there for three months. We met Lorne and Steven and enjoyed our visit with them very much. The support from them and the property managers was very good.

Wonderful House!

  • 4 of 5

We loved this well-cared for home. The lay-out of the house is ideal for two people, or two couples, because it allows for each to have privacy. It's a beautiful home, attractively decorated, fully equipped (even though we didn't cook any meals, the kitchen had all the best cookware, dishes, and tools), and convenient to everything. We especially enjoyed cool mornings in front of the fire; and the rooftop deck, and other outside spaces, for cocktails in the evening and relaxing any time of day. The reason for just 4 stars is because dogs barking all night and roosters crowing early in the morning made it difficult to sleep in the upstairs bedroom, even with earplugs. We were also in San Miguel over New Years---a time when the city was particularly crowded and loud fireworks New Years Eve went off for many hours past midnight. After the crowds left the city, we enjoyed our time there more.

Owner's Response: So glad that you enjoyed your stay in our home with our newly renovated kitchen. I am sorry that you were bothered by dogs barking and roosters crowing but unfortunately we have no control over what happens in the rest of Mexico outside of our home. This is the first time that anyone has mentioned this as a problem.

Spacious, beautiful, well cared for

  • 5 of 5

This is our third time here and as ever it was wonderful. You enter into the full beauty as you enter the front entry, beautiful walkway full of greenery. The house itself is well designed and comfortably furnished. The bed is excellent and Loupe, the housekeeper keeps everything clean and welcoming. The location is excellent, slightly, out of the centre but a short and easy walk in. The upper deck has a terrific view and the furnishings are comfortable for reading and watching the many birds in the surrounding trees.

There are many wonderful restaurants within a 20 minute walk. Check out the blog Donday in SMA as an excellent resource. Also music and dinner at Mi Casa. So many things to do!
