We love living in Silverlake.
Diana purchased this Apartment in 1999
Why Diana chose Silver Lake
We are artists. When not rented by vacationers, the apartment serves as our studio. We love the walkability of this neighborhood, and the gorgeous views and feeling of seclusion while in the middle of a large city.
What makes this Apartment unique
I enjoy the blend of indoor and outdoor living possible on this special property. The mature tree and lush foliage make it feel very remote, yet we have all the amenities of being walking distance from the popular Sunset Junction shops/eating area of Silverlake. The views from our hillside are gorgeous day and night.

Silverlake Garden Apartment
We have stayed in this apartment several times and certainly have enjoyed the quiet environment. A selection of restaurants, speciality stores and the Farmers Market each Sat. are all within walking distance. Within easy driving distance are the studios of CBS and NBC, Griffith Park, the LA Zoo, and the city of Glendale with the Mall of America. Photos of the site accurately reflect the appearance and amenities of the apartment. It is clean and comfortable. The owners are always available to answer any questions that you may have.
never would stay anywhere else in LA!
we found this awesome apartment a few years ago, and we would never consider looking elsewhere for lodging on our regular trips to LA. the apartment is cute, clean, well organized and in a beautiful setting. our family of four is always totally comfortable on the super comfy bed and pull out sofa. the owners are artists, and their artwork gives the place real character.
Location couldn't be better. AMAZING views of the hills and silverlake from the yard and balcony, walking distance to the heart of Silverlake and the best fish tacos just a short walk down the hill. The owners live on site and are so accommodating and friendly, they are always quick to respond anytime we need anything, and are full of helpful advice about the area when asked.
this is a totally unique and inviting place, and I highly recommend it.
Dani- Thanks so much for your thoughtful review and all your return visits. See you this summer!
A full kitchen should have a microwave, toaster, dishwasher, and coffeemaker, all of which are lacking in this property. The owner has most closets and all drawer space filled with her personal items. When I asked if it was possible to free up some space, I was told no. As a result, my wife and I had to put our clothing on a bedroom drafting table. The dining table is a metal industrial table, very strange and uncomfortable, loaded underneath with storage bins, making it extremely difficult to sit there. There is no television. The appartment does have good access to various Los Angeles locations. I have rented several VRBO properties in different locales, and while they varied in quality, they all possessed basic amenities missing in this property.Since we found it so uncomfortable, we probably did and saw more than usual, the idea being to minimize our time there. We would strongly not recommend this property.
The kitchen contains all items listed on the VRBO checklist. Perhaps you should read the amenities before deciding on a property. We also clearly state that the rental is used as our studio when not rented on short term basis. The closet shelves and hangers are fully available to guests, as are various tables used for luggage racks. A coffeemaker was included, as stated on the VRBO site. We never said there was a TV, so not sure why you expected to find one. We hope you select your next property by reading the provided amenities more carefully.
a quiet escape
this was an ideal place for me to stay during my work and sightseeing visit to l.a. it is clean and comfortable and there are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. hint: must eat at Food Lab and Alegria. the french press coffee was wonderful, i bought one when i got home. it was great to have a full kitchen (rarely found as part of an hotel accommodation, especially at a reasonable rate). on my sightseeing days i prepared snacks and lunches and on work days i would prepare dinner (when i wasn't eating at one of local eateries) and have a cold one, or two, and relax with a good read. nestled on a hillside you definitely feel when you are here you have left the bustle of the city behind. i hope to be back with the family, wife and two kids, because this is a great "home base" for a family vacation.
I wrote a review a few days ago, & made a small mistake. Can you change "donut" to cupcake?
Silver Lake studio/apartment
I'm an artist, & stay @ Diana's guest apartment when I'm visiting my daughter in Silver Lake. It's comfortable [ down comforter ], clean, quiet & convenient [ pleasant walk down to Sunset Blvd. w/ shops & restaurants; don't miss the donut shop! ]. Owners are "invisible" but right there if you need them. I will continue to stay there when I'm in LA, & certainly would recommend the studio/apartment to friends. I love the place.
Ron would like you to know that he meant cupcake, not donut shop. I think he means Lark. Thanks, Ron, for your repeat visits!
