About Nancy Shapiro - Owner

Hi, we are Nancy and Phil and lived in the Tahoe/Reno area for 17 years, and are now working in Denver. We are avid kayakers, x-c skiers, and tennis players [and like good food and wine too!]. We consult nationally, and are currently based in Denver; we are striving to be 'corporate drop out' types, but are not quite there yet. When at the cabin, we walk with our coffee to the beach each morning and with our wine in the evening. Our favorite thing about this cabin is that we feel very relaxed and calm when we are here, and that time just seems to stand still during our visits. We hope you experience the same.

Nancy Shapiro - Owner purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Nancy Shapiro - Owner chose Lake Forest

We specifically chose Tahoe City for its restaurants and shops and centralized proximity to the West shore area, Kings Beach, and Incline Village. We searched for 4 years to find a cabin that had close beach access without crossing a major road. Through diligence and timing we were fortunate to find a cabin in our price range that felt so private, and had such amazing access to the beach - the properties on the next street are in the multi-million $ range as they are lakefront. It was an easy choice with six public beaches, boat launch, golf, tennis, and multiple ski resorts all either at our back door, or within 15-20 minutes.

What makes this cabin unique

Three of our favorite things about this cabin are; the quiet, the amazing proximity to the lake, and the unspoiled turn-of-the-century feel of this original Tahoe summer cabin and neighborhood. We are far away from the highway and road noise, which just killed the ambiance of so many properties we had rented through the years.

From our location you hear the rushing of the breeze through the pines. Our double lot provides extra space, and even though we have neighbors, the lots are situated such that we never see or hear them so the property feels very private.

Very few rental properties match our beach access as you can pour your cup of coffee and walk a few houses one way or the other to take in the essence of Tahoe.

We have a favorite coffee-sipping spot we can share with you [works well with a glass of wine in your hand too :)

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks Nancy. We had a really lovely stay. We love the neighborhood - it's really the best we've seen in the whole Tahoe region. We cleaned the cabin and left everything as instructed in your handy check-out list. Thanks for providing all the clear information. J

Notes:
We have super-close beach / lake access - and almost as important we are away from the 'Y' where hwy 89 and hwy 28 junction. This is a rare rental that you don't have to cross the highway to get to the beach! In Summer that can take 10 or more minutes just standing there to cross if your rental property doesn't happen to be at a crosswalk. I know because I've done it!

Loved this cabin, it was everything we wanted and more!

  • 4 of 5

Our first time renting a cabin at Lake Tahoe. Not only was this a great value, it was absolutly a family favorite and will be remembered for years to come.

Everything you could need to feel as if your home. The lake is super close, it was quit and I found that surprising as it was a holiday weekend stay. Stores convienently located, shops and resturants.

The ease of renting, directions and communication by the owner was superb. We loved all of it.

Easy walk to the lake

  • 3 of 5

The stay at the cabin was nice and it is a great location. The stairs in the house were very steep, so I think it is better suited for older children. The owner was nice with the booking, but difficult to contact following the stay for return of deposit.

Owner's Response: Yes, I'm terribly sorry about that. Overwhelming business trip combined with many back-to-back renters... I just missed it. My cell number is pasted everywhere I wish you had just called or texted. I later found your 2 emails in my spam folder. My sincerest apologies. Nancy

More than promised!

  • 5 of 5

Everything at the cabin was as described but better; the pre and post financial paperwork was successfully accomplished with Nancy's helpful guidance; the staff at the North Shore Information Center helped us plan great Fall hikes; we enjoyed the staff and food at The Cork & More deli and the River Grill; our family of four adults had a fantastic time and we would return again should circumstances provide the opportunity. Thank You.
