Welcome to Karibu in Seaside
(111 Grayton Street)
Karibu is the delightful guest cottage to Hakuna Matata. Both are conveniently close to the Westside Pool and only a two minute walk to the beach. Karibu opens into a small courtyard with barbecue grill, and is privately accessible by one of Seaside's enchanting footpaths. Like the main house, Karibu is abundant in natural light provided by 3 sets of French doors on each of the 2 floors. Enter the living room from the covered front porch that extends the length of the building. In the open living room you will find the staircase leading to the second floor, a queen size sleeper sofa, flat screen television and a half bath.
The living room and fully equipped kitchen are separated by a bar with seating for four. The washer/dryer are located in a closet in the kitchen. Also, tucked away in a corner of the kitchen next to one set of French doors, is a rocking chair that provides just the place to enjoy morning coffee.
Ascend the stairs to the second floor and find a bright and spacious bedroom furnished with king bed. The bedroom and full size bath, both access the second floor balcony via French doors. Whether looking for an intimate getaway for two or additional space for the large family vacation, Karibu is quite a find!
A LITTLE ABOUT WHAT MAKES SEASIDE A SPECIAL VACATION EXPERIENCE
The idea behind Seaside came from 1946, when the grandfather of future founder Robert S. Davis bought 80 acres of land along the shore of Northwest Florida as a summer retreat for his family. In 1979 Davis inherited the parcel from his grandfather, and aimed to transform it into an old-fashioned beach town, with traditional wood-framed cottages of the Florida Panhandle.
Three decades ago the town of Seaside was established. And that is part of the magic of Seaside. It is a town. A Florida beach town. It is charming, graceful, eclectic, authentic, romantic. But Seaside isn't just a resort town. It’s a place where family and friends can connect with one another and with the beauty that abounds in this special corner of the world.
Seaside is not a cookie cutter beach resort. There are pools and tennis courts and other beach resort amenities, but Seaside is much more. It is a unique experience that not only changes the way a vacation is experienced, it changes the way a life is experienced. Seaside is a simple and beautiful way of life.
We go to Seaside almost every year. We were very much looking forward to this stay because this unit is on the larger side for one bedroom and we have a 4 yr old girl. It started off downhill due to the managing office having issues updating their server with the contract we faxed them which caused a detour to the office in Destin. No biggie though. Hopefully, this was a small hiccup. Wrong....several things about this property will cause us to look elsewhere next time. First, the shower head is so worn out that you might as well be taking a shower outside in the rain. Next, we found several tick like bugs crawling around which is always a concern with little ones, The bathroom is filthy especially around the tub. There are some more minor issues like the stove light not working and the outside wash down closet having a busted hose so hard to clean anything off after a trip to the beach. Lastly, the occupants of the main house had several kids that kept running around, screaming and knocking on the doors and windows of the back house we rented. Again, not really anything huge but lots of little things that add up. Only positives I can comment on are that it is close to the uncovered pool and the air condition is newer.
Loved my stay at Karibu. The house was cozy without being too small. It was clean and had everything we needed. Perfect for a small family. Close to the pool and the beach. We will absolutely be back!
We're just a couple of minutes from pier park, PCB's premier beach mall. You'll find great shopping . . .Chico's, Abercrombie, Hollister and more. Great dining. . .Margaritaville, the Back Porch, Guy Harvey's and more. There's Starbucks, marble slab creamery and more. And the grand. . .a sixteen screen mega movie theater. What a way to spend the time when you're not on the beach!
