About Peter and Diane

Chocolate Moose Lodge is our home away from home. We were introduced to the Blowing Rock area a few years ago and decided we needed to own a piece of heaven for ourselves. Since we are a career family we knew we needed to share the beauty and magic of Chocolate Moose Lodge. A home this beautiful and peaceful should be enjoyed everyday of the year! Our families wish is that you to capture the beauty, peacefulness and magic that Chocolate Moose Lodge has given us.

Peter and Diane purchased this house in 2012

Why Peter and Diane chose Blowing Rock

The beauty of these mountains and the area cannot be duplicated. Entertainment, hiking, dining and shopping at a 'relaxed pace' is something we look forward to after the hecticness of every day life. We wanted a home that was in close proximity to our main home, so we can properly take care of the maintenance and care of our homes.

What makes this house unique

Long peaceful walks or marked hiking trails are right out the front door. When you return enjoy a relaxing conversation around the fire pit while making yummy smores! If you want more activities sking at Appalachian Ski Mountain, and Grandfather Mountain are ten minutes away. In the summer months you can laze down a river upon an inner tub. Hawksnest provides the longest zip line and the largest snow tubing park on the East Coast. Chocolate Moose Lodge is conveniently located off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, adjacent to the Pisgah National Forest Between Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain, five minutes from Main Street Blwoing Rock, Moses Cone Estate and West Glow Spa. Julian Price Park and Lake are two miles from your front door, whether you want to picinic, fish or just rent a boat. If you wish to stay in enjoy a smart T.V. surround sound, or melt your stress away in a salt water hot tub. A regulation pool table will allow you to hone your skills or just have fun with family and friends.

Lovely lodge

Truly a magnificent stay. The rooms are decorated beautifully. The kitchen has everything you could want and need. Lots of time spent by the fire in the den. The hot tub certainly a bonus after a day of skiing. We hope to be back!

Can't Ask for Anything More!

Loved loved loved everything about the Chocolate Moose Lodge! We are frequent renters of VRBO properties and this home by far is one of the best vacation homes we have ever stayed at. It was more than just a house to come back to after a day of exploring, but a welcoming home retreat that we all looked forward to come back to. It is obvious how much love and care the owners have put into this property and we sincerely appreciate their willingness to share it with others. Everything was perfect! From the personal welcoming note to the fully stocked kitchen and the added bonus of a beautiful snow filled New Year's! We will definitely be returning.

The second time we have stayed here for my wife’s birthday. We are going to make this an annual trip

  • 5 of 5

The house is situated in a very private setting only about 10 minutes from the quaint town of Blowing Rock, NC. The house is well provisioned including pool table, hot tub, etc. Go to VRBO for full description, but we love this house!

What an amazing weekend away. We’ve been to Blowing Rock several times and this, by far, was the nicest home we’ve stayed in. Close to everything, well equipped with anything we needed, super comfortable, the list goes on! The owners were easy to communicate with throughout the reservation process and even called the house the day we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. And to top it off, we arrived to a personal note left by the owner herself. The pool table was especially fun for my 4 year old and the fire pit was used every night for s’mores and star gazing. We even dipped in the hot tub. Literally everything we needed was there for us and the view from the loft bedroom was spectacular to wake up to.

The amount of personal touch we felt was unparalleled to any other trip we’ve ever taken. My little one even left her keepsake from Tweetsie behind accidentally (and when she realized she cried her little eyes out) and Diane was kind enough to drop them in the mail to send them back to us. A life saver to my four year old (you’re my hero, Diane!!!!).

We’ll be back next year. Many thanks for a memorable weekend!
