Saltbox house sits atop a ridge on seventy acres of untouched wooded land looking over Squam Lake. Its large deck runs thirty feet across the front of the house affording great opportunities to relax or entertain. Wake up to the sun rising above Red Hill and eat breakfast at the table on the deck. Informal gardens surround the house and the woods are fun to explore. Sandy beach is a four mile drive, and kayaks and canoe are stored by the lake two miles from the house. The Squam Range (Rattlesnake, Morgan, Livermore Mountains are a five mile drive to trails). This is the perfect house for a relaxed family vacation.
Four bedrooms (two rooms each with a queen bed; one room with one twin bed; one room with two twin beds) and a 'common room' on second floor provide places to sleep or rest. The kitchen is well appointed and is open to the dining room and living room. The dining room table comfortably sits eight people. Additionally, round table on deck sits eight people. This is a great house for families to reconnect and spend time together in the Squam lakes region.
My husband and I are school teachers who built this house as our summer retreat. Each summer we try to do more work in the surrounding woods, clearing the view, and planting more blueberry bushes. It has been a great place for us to raise our family.
Katherine Weymouth purchased this tower in 1991
Likely one of the most beautiful lakes in the world!
Visitors catch their breaths when they first see the 'million-dollar' view of Squam and the mountains, including Chocorua. Many think the view rivals the view of Squam from Rattlesnake. See for yourself!
Our family obtained this rental from the Weymouth's this past summer 2010 for two weeks.
From the moment we entered the driveway to arriving to the home we were in amazement. The VIEWS cannot be described. Most peaceful, tranquil setting you could ask for. We had glimpses of deer and a owl in the early PM hours as well.
We found the owners to be very accommodating as well as everything inside and outside of the home maintained well and as the posting on VRBO stated. We were very pleased. Our 94 yr. old father in law traveled with us. This home suited him well with a bedroom on main living area with his own bathroom as well with a built in shower seat. The owners moved the TV from the upstairs common area to the main level for my father in law which he really enjoyed.
There is complete privacy in this setting and plenty of room to enjoy family and friends to gather. We could not ask for more.
We enjoyed a drive to the White Mtns. We also enjoyed boat rides and kayaking and swimming at Squam Lake. Dinner out at Walter's Basin was delicious. Myself loving to cook and entertain, this home had a very workable kitchen and large dinning area. It was a wonderful vacation spot .
