This beautiful and architecturally interesting home sits on a peaceful hillside just 10 minutes walk to the center of the sleepy fishing village of La Manzanilla with its family friendly beach on Tenecatita Bay. There are two entrances to the home from the front and back lanes and a large, secured off-the-street parking area and illuminated walkways. The house features a uniquely patterned tile floor throughout, painting details on the walls by a local artist and an open fully equipped kitchen.
The dining area has a beautiful table made from slices of a huge tree and opens into the well appointed sitting area with furniture crafted by Mexican artisans. There is a large ornate glass door opens off the sitting area to allow full access to a balcony overlooking the large private yard enclosed by a high fence of towering bouganvillea and exotic vines. Full time maid service is available (at extra charge) and a gardener is on the job to care for the lovely yard with its many beautiful plants and trees.
On the open third floor you can relax and dine at a small table while watching the lovely sunsets over Tenecatita Bay. On the bottom floor is the master bedroom with a king sized bed and a large second bedroom with two twin beds. A third bed is available by using the new futon located just inside the entry. The spacious master bath features a newly tiled shower and twin sinks.
The owner is a retired physician and potter who has travelled extensively in Central and South America. He and his wife 'discovered' La Manzanilla and immediately decided to make it their second home and very likely there primary home in the future.
Louden Kiracofe purchased this house in 2008
After searching the La Manzanilla area for several days we finally were able to see this home which is well hidden from the street by huge bougainvillea plants. We were immediately impressed with the large enclosed and well protected terraced yard and the artistically designed home with its many unique features. The town of La Manzanilla is charming, peaceful and friendly. Tenecatita Bay is calm and great for swimming, kayaking and walking. There are several excellent restaurants to choose for dining. This is a small and peaceful undiscovered treasure!
This home is located close to the beautiful and tranquil waters of Tenecatita Bay where the swimming and kayaking are wonderful. Fishing in the right season is great! The town of La Manzanilla features excellent choices of restaurants, has a fabulous beach and is an easy drive to neighboring villages of Cicuatlan, Melaque, Barra de Navidad, Tenecatita, Careyes and El Tecuan - all of which offer interesting opportunities for sightseeing, dining, shopping and water sports. Freshly caught seafood is brought in daily at beach.
We loved our 10 day stay at your beautiful and peaceful home. It is very unique and comfortable. The little town of La Manzanilla was perfect for us - great restaurants and nice people. We hope to return for a month - at least - next time.
Home was a challenge due to many levels and moisture. Slippery steps up to house powered washed 2 days before leaving but lots of water inside afterwards. Also rainfall had small stream flowing down stairwell and large pool inside kitchen area underneath door. Walk to town was excercise enough when you do it a few times daily so all the stairs in home too much. In need of basic upkeep and repairs. Town was fun and beach fabulous!
This is a very nice little house in a nice little town. My second visit to LM and we loved it again.
The owner and caretakers were very nice and accommodating.
I travelled here with my older parents so just a heads up that the house is up on a hill and also has lots of stairs so it's a bit harder for the older/slower folks. But any reasonably mobile people can manage it no problem.
Laundry was not serviceable however it is very cheap to drop off in town. Less than $1.00 per load and they do it all for you. Support local businesses.
This is small town Mexico so if you're looking for a "Cancun like" experience this is definitely not it. If you like authentic experiences and a nice place check this one out.
We enjoyed perfect weather for our two week vacation in February staying in this beautiful home. The home is accurately described in the advertisement and was very clean and well maintained. Our entire experience was positive. People were friendly and helpful, restaurants were plentiful and reasonably priced. The pace is very low key , no large resorts or hotels , just a fabulous beach on which to relax and enjoy. We felt very safe. Prior to leaving, the owner was most helpful and supplied information to us by email and the contact person in La Manzanilla was most accommadating. We will likely go back next year. You can enjoy watching the crocodiles in the enclosed mangrove area at the north end of the main street in town. There are always several there to be seen.
