Quaint neighborhood with some full time residents. Fantastic views to be enjoyed on the huge covered deck. Outdoor living at its best with full living room set up. Beautiful sunrises and steps directly to the beach. Infinity Swimming pool with views of Ocean. Diving and snorkeling right in the backyard. Dive shop can pick you up directly from our dock.
Great walks around the neighborhood. Nice dinner can be had at Marble Hill Farms. If boating is of interest, local neighbor gives wonderful excursions for a fee.
Very tranquil setting, with outstanding panaramic ocean views. master bedroom is large with great breezes and kitchen is also very large to cook and prepare meals. Walks on the beach are also very nice with some minimal shell findings.
We purchased this home as a future retirement home.
The Owner purchased this house in 2006
Inexpensive and offered us directly on the beach, up and coming islands for investment
Views, peacefulness, community we live in, diving and sailing
My husband and I stayed at this beautiful property for 1 month. We had 10 straight days of rain and yet we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The east end of Roatan is beginning to feel like home and we are so fortunate to have found this gem.
Final days of a great month. Very large comfortable house with everything you need. Pictures really don't highlight the house! Lots of space and a very loungeable bedroom with the TV. Great having satellite for the rainy, stormy days and to watch the Australian open tennis! Internet worked perfectly which was a big deal as my husband had work to do. A few long power outages - but during the day, no drama.
Kitchen well equipped, perfect 5 min drive to marble hill for great meals if we didn't feel like cooking. Planned our shopping to Eldons every few days. Lived on fresh, frozen tuna steaks! Great grocery store with everything.
If Jerry the fisherman shows up, don't pay in advance!
Diving on the east end was great! Dive Pangea Roatan in Camp Bay, easy 20 minute drive down the dirt road. Did one dive with Tropical Island at marble hill as well. Great guys!
Only complaint was trying to sit by the pool or dock in the sun. The neighbours dog wouldn't leave us alone and just barked and barked, even a month later! House dogs were always quiet.
Miguel came and went, lovely guy.
Loved it and hope to return!
The house is lovely....very comfortable and stylish. The TV and Internet service worked perfectly. It was our first trip to Roatan, we came for a month long holiday and can't say enough great things about the island and this property!
We hired the smallest possible car and were able to reach the house easily, as others mention grocery shopping at Eldon's works out really well... The pool and grounds are beautiful, and we settled in and just relaxed. Honestly, it was a perfect vacation!
PS The ocean views are lovely....and if you make a 50% sugar water solution in the hummingbird feeder you will have hummingbirds visiting the deck all day long... And at evening there are lightening bugs!
The house is true ocean front and the caretaker Miguel is on site to help out should anything come up.
Our family of five (kids aged: 13, 8 and 5) spent 3 weeks here from the end of July to mid-August and it was heavenly. Like the other reviewers have said, the photos on the website really don't do the place justice. The views are breathtaking and the property and home are very spacious.
There is a lot of outside space which allowed us to be together as a family or have quiet, individual time as well. And every area is well equipped with comfortable furniture - from the loungers by the pool to the hammock and chairs on the decks.
The house is extremely well stocked - sheets, swimming towels, kitchen appliances, etc. The master bed was super comfortable - slept better than I do at home! Every afternoon/evening a lovely breeze picks up and the temperature sitting on the deck or by the pool is perfect. And because the house sits above sea level - the no-see-ums and mosquitoes were not too bad - although wise to bring/buy Off.
We spent a large part of our time just enjoying the house and the pool although did do a few excursions including a fabulous ziplining adventure with Pirates of the Caribbean. Highly recommend it.
We bought fish and lobster from Jerry - the local fisherman who comes to the private beach - each week. That was a real treat and the kids loved hearing Jerry's stories of wrestling with sharks! Eldon's supermarket (25 min drive) is very well stocked and has everything you could find at home.
If you are planning a trip to Roatan we would definitely recommend this property - particularly if you are looking for a place to wind down and spend quality together time. Honestly, why stay anywhere else?
Staying at this house helped contribute to the best vacation I’ve ever had! Three of us stayed for two weeks at the beginning of July. This house is definitely on the non-touristy side of the island – about 50 minutes from the airport, a little over an hour to West End, and a little bit longer to West Bay. We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle, and we definitely did! We were able to stop at Eldon’s Grocery store for most of our food items, about 30 min. from the house. (We also stopped at the Bulk Gourmet for some of our meats and hard-to-find items).
The pictures on here do not do this place justice. The house was cleaned and pretty well stocked with whatever you could think of. The breeze was pretty much constant. The house has tons of windows and doors with screens and it really does a great job of maximizing the wind. Even when it was hot out, it always felt good on our deck or in the house. The master bedroom quarters are separated from the main house by a set of stairs so it’s very private. There is a sliding glass door that leads out to a separate deck. We spent most of our time on the outside deck off of the living room, which was perfect. It had comfortable furniture and it’s completely covered so we were able to get a break from the sun and the rain (which only happened twice). We actually brought our own hammocks from home and there were plenty of places to hang them up on the property. If we weren’t on the covered deck we were in the pool – it was much bigger than we had thought from the pictures and it was cleaned every day by the caretaker, Miguel. If you want sun there are lounge chairs by the pool. The view from the property and the pool is fantastic. We swam off the dock just once – there is sea grass and sand, not much to see. The reef is visible from the house but too far to swim. One day we rented a kayak from Marble Hill Farms (visible from the house) and paddled out to the reef, but even that was a bit rough due to the waves out there. The beach at the house is not one where you’d typically go and lay out, if that is your thing, but I don’t think you’d need to with the beautiful pool area. And if you do want some sand, there are plenty of great beaches on the island.
You do not need a 4x4 vehicle to rent this house (unless maybe its rainy season, but I would just confirm with Cynthia). We rented a little Hyundai Elantra from Caribbean Rent a Car and it worked great for us. We drove further east past Punta Blanca to e
Renting a house based on pictures and reviews can be stressful but let me be the one to say that this rental is beyond what you could ask for. Not only did we breathe a sigh of relief but we giggled with 40 year old enthusiasm when we saw how truly private and beautiful the house and location were. The house has every amenity that one could wish for on vacation (except perhaps a cabana boy?). We enjoyed the luxury of our own kitchen, the relaxing deck and furniture to hang out on, the pool to relax in and around, and the sun rise as soon as you open your eyes! Even the breeze up on the hillside was a welcome respite from the sun and heat of the day. We were looking for an escape from the more touristy side of the island (we live in touristy ski country) and never even made our way to the west end. Everything we wanted in a vacation was right there. Diving with Tropical Island Divers was fantastic and we never saw another group of divers! Rum punch and chicken wings at La Sirena further east became a regular outing. We will definitely return to Total Devotion for another vacation soon!
