Fredericksburg was settled by German immigrants, led by John O. Meusebach in 1846. Although the settlement was on Comanche Frontier, the Meusebach-Comanche Treaty established lasting peace. Many older buildings retain traditional German and frontier styles, with over 700 historical structures in the historic district alane. Many are on the National Register of Historic Places. German is still spoken on occasions, and old German customs are regularly observed. Schuetzen Fests (marksmanship), Oktoberfest, Weihnachten, and Kinderfest, to name a few.
Visitors are attracted by the scenic beauty,, European atmosphere, and historic landmarks. Fredericksburg is home to the Pacific War Museum, and birthplace of Fleet Adm. Chester W. Nimitz, Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet during World War II.

Rental on Oak Haven Road, Fredericksburg, Tx
The house was great and just perfect for my 3 grown sons and their wives to join us and have a celebration for our birthday. Each room was decorated well and we really felt the Hill Country feeling. The wrap around porch was such fun to sit and watch the hummers and deer. Beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay so much. So glad I found it on the VRBO website.
Texas Hill Country Treasure
Spent the past three days in Fredericksburg enjoying the food and wine with family. One of highlights of our trip was the Oak Haven Haus! It is a beautiful old home situated in the Texas hill country with twenty mile views! Our last night we decided to stay in and cook just to enjoy the home and its decks overlooking the countryside! Highly recommended!
Photos in listing don't do the property justice.
Lovely, handsome appointments, very clean with all the conveniences needed for our stay. Close to town and quiet. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and we would definitely stay here again!
Property rented for a get together of 4 friends/girls trip.
Awesome Place to Stay
Beautiful house with everything we needed. The kitchen was well-equipped. The bathrooms clean and modern with nice touches. The house is nicely decorated with interesting pictures, books, and furniture. Every thing was very comfortable. The balconies had great views of the sunsets. We also liked seeing the turtles in the pond and deer in the woods. A great place for our extended family to stay during spring break!
The house was beautiful and had everything we needed to make our ladies weekend perfect!
My longtime friends and I immensely enjoyed our weekend at Oak Haven! Would definitely rent the house again if we come back to the Hill Country! We loved the furnishings throughout the house and especially enjoyed sitting out on the patio. Great place!
Spotless and lovely
The house was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, well stocked, and comfortable. It felt like the country living but was close to town. I would stay there again and would recommend the house to my friends.
