This beautiful Luxury GROUND FLOOR 2250 square foot beachfront condo opens out to a very spacious covered terrace and its outdoor kitchen (including gas BBQ grill) that connect directly to the kid friendly pool/large deck, and then to the beach and Pacific ocean only 100 feet away from our door.

Suitable for couples & families with kids and seniors. Kid friendly. 24/7 Security.

Inside, BOTH master suites have new wood style tile flooring, king beds and very large walk in showers with the finest stone finishes and chrome appointments. The third bedroom has new wood style tile flooring, two twin beds and full bath with large tub as well as shower. The large indoor kitchen has top of the line stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops. Kitchen adjoins the very large, open dining and living area. Exit directly from the kitchen and living areas to the stone terrace/deck, and from there to the pool deck and pool looking out at the beach and Pacific Ocean.

Nearest airport is Liberia International about 20-25 minutes away. Walk to restaurants/bars on the beach. Near local grocery stores, with larger and many shopping, banking, tours, casino, bars, restaurants & night life in Playa Coco about 10 minutes away.

Sol Y Mar is a small beach front complex of 4 buildings with only 12 units. Gated with 24 hours security on the premises.

This unit is very suitable for couples, families, and children.

A local telephone is available in the guard shack for guest use if needed for emergencies. I brought down a Vonage phone to call back to the USA & Canada but can't be used for local calls.

Located in the small beach side community of Playa Hermosa, the 'Sol Y Mar' property has but 12 beachfront homes surrounded by single private residences and a few locally owned hotels, bars and restaurants. Only 3 floors high with few owners on site at any given time, Sol Y Mar is private luxury right on the water. Our ground floor unit #3C, has top-of-the-line and tasteful furnishings throughout. Each bedroom has a bath with porcelain tile and chrome fixtures. The living and dining area is spacious and opens out to the huge 'L' shaped, tiled terrace with outdoor kitchen and comfortable furniture for relaxing and dining. From the indoor kitchen with its stainless steel GE Profile appliances, gorgeous cabinets and granite counter tops, guests can step directly on to the terrace, and from there to the pool deck. Walking by the magnificent three tier swimming pool and hot tub, the Pacific beach is only 100 feet away. Inside and out, every area has ceiling fans and great lighting.

SHOPPING & BANKING: Small shops, grocery stores and ATM are near our home in Playa Hermosa. Larger stores, greater variety and BANKING, are 10 minutes away in Coco Beach.

About Scott Burch

I have been happily married for the past 18 years. My loving wife Joan and I have one child named Charlie who is now 17 years old. I was in Commercial Video Post Production business around 30 years, I have resigned from my company so I could pursue other ventures but still freelance a couple times per week. My future endeavors include helping better our environment, volunteer for my community and possibly get involved in health care as well as spending more time with my family. I have been on the east coast, in and around NYC my entire life. 11 years ago we went on a vacation to Costa Rica's Gulf of Papagayo, we loved it so much we purchased a condo a month later. Vista Bahia condominium/hotel (A Monarch Resort Property)of Playa Panama was a perfect place for us because of the location to and from the airport and the privacy it offers. After vacationing in this area for years we found & bought this Condo at Sol Y Mar in Playa Hermosa. It was spectacular and larger and more luxurious then the first condo we bought. We vacation here at least 3x a year. I am considering moving down to Costa Rica someday, hopefully sooner than later. I love fishing, working with my hands and many other hobbies.

The condo is the only one like it, this magnificent, luxurious unit has plenty of space for large families. It was built with incredible detail. I have always been a beach person and love to fish, exercise on the beach, swim and just relax. There is everything and nothing to do here, the choice is yours.

This is a new and modern home, a rarity on the beach in this small oceanside community of Playa Hermosa. Staying at Sol Y Mar is fun, relaxing and refreshing, and only a short distance from rafting, hot springs, mud baths, repelling and canopy tours through the tops of rain forest trees. A short distance from local surfing spots! Even the restaurants around the area are phenomenal! Our unit is on the bottom floor which is perfect for those who have mobilities issues.

This ground floor, poolside unit is one of only 12 in a small beachfront community in Playa Hermosa (beautiful beach). All bedrms have new wood style tile floor, and the remainder of the unit, in/out has porcelain tile. All areas, in/out, have ceiling fans (3 on the terrace!). The kitchen has top-of-the line cabinets, granite counter tops and stainless steel GE Profile appliances.The outdoor kitchen has a sink, refrigerator and gas grill, along with storage and new furniture for relaxing & dining. Pool deck Gazebo near terrace. The living and dining area is very large and decorated with high quality and tasteful furnishings. In addition to the front entry porch and doors, guests may exit the interior to the large 'L' shaped terrace through 8 foot sliding glass doors. Step directly from the terrace to the deck and swimming pool, the other end of which is but 100 feet from the beach and Pacific. Views from the interior of the unit, and its terrace, are breathtaking both day and night

Nice condo on the beach!

The condo had a great location right on the beach and the owner, Scott, was super helpful with recommendations on restaurants and excursions. The condo was clean and well stocked with plenty of space. We loved our fishing excursion. The security was very good at the complex but at the same time made us uncomfortable seeing so much barbed wire around homes/businesses which made you think it was not a safe area. Based on our other stays in various countries, the cost of the condo was a bit high for what we got overall. Areas of improvement: AC only went to 75 degrees and it was too warm for us. The shower head in the main bedroom needs to be replaced. It would have been nice if the hot tub was an actual hot tub but we knew this before we booked.

Owner's Response: I am glad to hear you loved the location of our condo, being directly on the beach is a great bonus as there are not any condos directly on the beach in Costa Rica. I am happy to help all my guests on any of there needs, I always provide as much information as I can to make your stay perfect and effortless. Our security is top rate, we do NOT have ugly barbed wire around our condominium, just guards and gorgeous landscaping to keep out unwanted guests and animals. There is a tastefully gated parking lot in the back with a guard house and on the beach side it is landscaped to see the beach and ocean but with low cut Piñuela Bromeliadson to keep out unwanted guests/animals. The sides have tasteful fencing and landscaping. The other businesses and housing are locals who can't afford security and just do what they can to keep out unwanted guests/animals. There is very little crime in our area it is safe, if anything it is petty crime which we have all over the world. The cost was not discounted because of your length of your stay, 3 nights is rated per day, a week stay is discounted for less. We have the same amount of work to do if you stay 1 night or 7 so the fees are the same for each that add up for lesser length stays (As always negotiations are always welcome). We replaced the entire A/C system a month ago. The old system would freeze up into a block of ice (the condenser) when temps and humidity were high and guests would lower the thermostat to low. That put leaks into the freon line so I was told replacing would be needed since I kept recharging the unit. They put in a thermostat that stops at 75 degrees so this could not happen. When the temp outside is 90 degrees 75 is perfect for most, especially with the ceiling fans on. Sorry you were not that comfortable. We will look into replacing the shower head, nothing last long on the ocean. The HOA has not replaced the motor yet on the hot tub and I do not think they will. I prefer not to have hot water when it is alway hot down there but thats just my opinion : )

Beautiful quiet beachfront

We had a wonderful 4 days at this very nice property. We came with 5 adults and 2 kids (5 and 9) and there was plenty of space for all of us.

Pros: The kids loved that the pool was just outside the door and my father loved that the beach was right there too. The condo is very nicely furnished and has everything you need. The restaurants along the beach are great, Robertos was our favorite but the ambiance at Aquasport was great. The pool was kept up very well though what looks like a hot tub is really just a spa tub the same temp as the pool. The whole complex was very quiet and peaceful. Everyone we met was very helpful. Ariel took us for a sunset tour and we had a great time. We also did a ATV tour that the management company helped us arrange and really enjoyed that too. The beach here was not crowded at all and has very few rocks and shells so it is nice on the bare feet. It was fun to head to the nearby beaches and see how different they all are. Playa coco was our favorite town to wander around. Beautiful sunsets right from the condo porch (the main photo really is the view).

Cons: Hardly any. No screens on the windows, and although there were very few bugs I still did not feel like we should leave the windows open without them (probably a personal preference).

Overall I highly reccomend this property. Thanks Scott for letting us stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Anne, I am so happy to hear you all had really great vacation! It really is a great vacation spot, so much to do or just relax. My unit is set up perfectly for families with the pool right there and beach in front. Those are two of my favorites restaurants too! Ceviche is to die for at both. Aqua Sport has a new chef and makes a killer upside down ceviche : ) The local people are all very helpful and polite, very approachable. I will let Ariel know you enjoyed his tour, he always likes to here that. Having a friend taking care of my guests needs on water tours is part of the Costa Rican experience we provide. Our beach is exactly what its name means "Beautiful" (Playa Hermosa), sunsets, sunsets, sunsets are incredible. The sandy beach is perfect for walking, running, playing with no rip tides in site. The A/C in the unit usually stops people from using the windows but it can always be turned off for guests to open them. Like you said very few bugs in our area (very dry). Have a great Summer! Beautiful beach, close to restaurants, has all the amenities!

We are family of 6 with 4 teenagers that have travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean. Sol Y Mar 3C was perfect for us! Enough space for everyone, yet open concept so that we always felt together as a family. The outdoor patio has comfortable seating for 12 with an outdoor patio table that was perfect for evening card games. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for making breakfasts and lunches. We ate dinner out every night as there were so many fantastic restaurants within walking distant - all very relaxed and laid back atmospheres. The beautiful soft sand beach is steps away from the condo - great for beach walking and watching sunsets. The pool was kept spotless by staff. Driving around in Costa Rica is very easy; we rented a car for the week to take in the sights. Visiting Tamarindo to see the beginning surfers is a must-do, as is the Cortez Waterfalls. Day trips for fishing/snorkeling/caving are right off the beach - we went out with Ariel of Ocean Adventures and caught red snapper, tuna, and Jack Grouper. Groceries are located close by, making it easy to keep the fridge stocked. Overall;

Beach - soft sand, length, gentle surf- outstanding

Condo - size, amenities, location - outstanding

Pool - clean, warm, size - excellent

Water activities/ boat tours - good

Our host (Scott) gave us lots of great information about the area before we came, including driving directions, which made the travel in from the airport so easy. Would definitely recommend to stay at Sol Y Mar.

Outstanding location, the proximity to the pool, the beach and surrounding restaurants is perfect!!!

This was our second stay and we will certainly be back for many more. The location at Hermosa is great. Right on the beach, very secure but honestly that was not an issue at all.

The condo itself has everything you see and is extremely comfortable for 6-8 people. Kitchen has all the necessary functionality to feed a crowd. Plenty of indoor and outdoor comfort space.

The property is meticulously maintained and the staff are very helpful. The owner Scott is fabulous, he has well prepared directions, activity material and many contacts for fishing, boating, restaurants, zip line, tours of all kinds.

Situated right near playa Coco, Plata Panama and Papagayo, you are right in some of the best Costa Rica has to offer.

We always go with 3 generations and there is stuff for everyone to enjoy.

Nothing like a day at the beach and the night under the stars is worth seeing by itself.

We went out fishing and within a few hours had a feast of fresh fish which the local staff helped us prepare.

Close local shopping and in Playa Coco there is even more shopping and nightlife 10 minutes away.

All the electronic entertainment and wifi/ phone communications worked flawlessly for those who need to do a little work remotely.

We drove out from San Jose and this time I noticed all the main roads were all newly refinished and a few major highways were completed making it an easy comfortable ride.

Relax, unwind and enjoy!!!! Or get out and do something you've never done like see the Arenal volcano and melt in the volcanic water parks, visit a tropical rainforest, explore more secluded beaches then you have ever seen.

Great stay.

We stayed at Sol y Mar unit 3C for a week in February, 2017. There was six of us (4 adults, 2 children) and there was plenty of room. The unit allows 8, I believe. I'm not sure where those other 2 would sleep, unless you put more than 2 people in the king beds or used one of the air mattresses on site.

We really enjoyed the location on Playa Hermosa. The beach was a good size, not too crowded and the waves were present, but manageable for our children. There were plenty of good restaurants for us to walk to each night for dinner. The condo location was a great jumping off point for some excursions to adventure parks and rafting trips.

The condo itself is large and well-equipped. We cooked some and found everything we needed, although some of the kitchen ware were bit dated.

We found Costa Rica easy to navigate (the roads are not as bad as we heard), relatively inexpensive and with plenty to do (or not!).

As others have commented, Scott is an excellent host. He was very responsive, both before our trip and during, when we had questions. He provided helpful information and recommendations. We used his contact with a boat, Ariel, to take 3 separate boat rides. Ariel picked us up right off the beach and structured trips according to what we wanted to do (fish, sunset, snorkel, etc.).

Owner's Response: It sounds like everyone enjoyed themselves! You are correct about the unit allowing 8 guests. Usually 2 kids sleep on the 2 mattresses I supply or sometime kids will sleep on the couches. Infants will sometimes sleep in the king size bed with their parents or my mangers can supply a Pak N Play. I love our location too, perfect location for land and water tours and many walkable locations to choose where to eat from. Thanks for letting me know about the some of the kitchen ware, we always update things that need replacing, I will contact you about what you think is worn. I always try and help out on everyones vacation as much as possible to make it a memorable vacation for all, it is my pleasure. I will pass on the comment to Ariel too, he loves hearing that.

Great place for family. Wonderful beach experience and terrific accomodations.

We stayed February 2017. I have been to Costa Rica numerous times but this was the first time we brought the family including our three daughters ages 13, 11 and 8. First off, the complex and the units themselves are top notch quality. Additionally, you will feel secure. In many ways I feel the security measures exceed what is necessary but the peace of mind that comes with it is nice. the pool is excellent. The location is great.

Hermosa Beach itself is a perfectly sized village. It is small enough to easily feel comfortable but large enough to include all you need for provisioning and for restaurants. I don't know if there is a night life as we never made it out past 10pm following all of our activities each day.

The owner, Scott, was exceedingly generous in providing information on local restaurants, guides, tours, driving directions, etc. If you decide to stay here, do yourself a favor and take advantage of Scott's knowledge. We did and it really paid off. My family unanimously voted this our best vacation to date.

This small 12 unit development, known as SOL Y MAR (Sun & Sea), is located right on the Pacific Ocean beach in the small community of Playa Hermosa, a 20 minute drive from the Liberia International Airport. It is near a few giant national parks (Santa Rosa national park, Rincón de la Vieja National Park and more) and many Volcanoes (Arenal Volcano, the country's largest volcano, Rincon, Orosi and many more). Nearby tropical forests present many opportunities for canopy Zip Lining & walking bridge tours, rafting, tubing, repelling, spa/hot baths, as well as exploring and sightseeing. The nearby community of Tamarindo is a surfing Mecca, just one hour's drive South.

Other Activities: Boating, Health / Beauty Spa, all types of tours. Shops Shops Shops in Playa Coco! Plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Golf: There are many types of Golf courses. High end and low end.We are set on a 1 mile long beach which is never crowned except on the major Holidays (Christmas/New Years). We are beachfront, you walk out of our door and you have the pool then the beach. The pictures on the website are from my units terrace. Our door is less then 50 yards away from the beach. We have tours leaving our beach to goto surf, scuba, fishing, snorkeling areas Etc. All other tours can be arranged, just let me know. All the water sports are within walking distance and many land tours as well are within a short ride (depending on which tour you choose). The rain forest is about a 3 hour drive from our condo. Variety of indoor games for enjoyment and entertainment may be found in the TV cabinet. Several pool floats and toys, including two floats with self contained water guns. Four beach chairs are also available, as well as flashlights for evening beach walks. Canopy, Zip lines, Volcano, National Parks, Mud and Thermal Baths, Rain forest, Bird, wild life, all the tours of Costa Rica.
